Why boo Hossa when he was just doing what he felt he needed to do? Players come and go all the time, it's the nature of the game. I'm not going to boo Hossa, he was a great player for us and he did the best he could. I know that he said he wanted to stay in Detroit and he would take less money to stay in Detroit but he's gone and he did what he needed to do. I wish hime all the best. That being said I still hope Chicago doesn't get it's first Cup since 61 before the Wings get another Cup.

That sounds like a real good plan to me. I want Hudler to stay a Wing for as long as possible but I'd really like to see Abdelkader be up this season and not start the season with the Griffins again. If the Wings didn't go after any free agents this off-season (besides the ones on our team) it would not bother me at all. I would like to hear something Official soon about the Wings Re-Signing someone but this is still early July and we have a couple more months before our training camp rosters need to be a complete as they are going to.

Wings will re-sign Leino to a 2-year deal
Dimaline312000 replied to Hey Hey Hockeytown!'s topic in General
I will wait for the official word before I get excited about Leino. However, it this is indeed true. That is fantastic. Leino is a great young player and I'm really glad to see him get a contract to stay in Detroit for at least 2 years or however long the Wings sign him for. Damn I wish the Cap would have grown by a Mill or Two. -
I haven't read through this whole thread so I'm not sure if anyone has asked this or said this or whatever but; what happens if we don't keep Hudler? Personally I would definetly like to keep him but he is a Free Agent even if he is Resticted we still may lose him. What do you think would be our game-plan if we did indeed part ways with Jiri Hudler?

While there was a time I did want Hossa over Franzen. I'm glad we kept Franzen over Hossa. Z and Franzy I think are terrifice and I would have loved to been able to keep Hossa as well. I'm very happy and more that content with having the Mule and Zetter. We didn't have Hossa in 08 and we did have Franzen and we won the Cup. I look forward to toasting another Stanley Cup Championship in Detroit real soon I hope.

I was ecstatic last July when I found out that Hossa was coming to the Red Wings and I'm so glad for the one season he did spend here. I too really wish we could have won the Cup with him on the Roster this season but it didn't work out. I wish him nothing but the best. I will say I think he may have a real good chance at getting the Cup with Chicago in about 2 to 3 possibly 4 years down the road. Chicago I believe still has some growing and learning to do. I must say that I think his agent had a tremendous lot to do with him signing in Chicago for the next 12 seasons. For Hossa to say that he will take less to stay with the Wings and that he wanted to stay with the Wings. It seems to me that he would have taken less to stay. I think Winter probably put it in his head that he could get him a better offer with a team that DOES have a shot at getting a Cup soon. While there are no hostile feelings toward Hossa for signing with the Hawks I really hate to see him go becasue I really truly felt we had a great shot to keep in in MoTown. We'll deal with the loss and move forward and be happy wit the team we have. This doesn't take anything away from the Wings; we are still a great team and a great franchise. Good Luck Marian and Let's Go Red Wings!!!!

What kind or Shape for Next Years FA market?
Dimaline312000 replied to Hank Dats 'N Homer's topic in General
If the NHL can make some serious money this coming season. Than I think the Cap will go up for everyone but with the fix that some teams have been in this season, I don' see this happening. I would love to see the Cap go up a little bit for 10/11 but the economy is going to have a huge amount to everything to do with that. Even it is only goes up $1 or $2 Mill that would really help teams like us out. I think the Wings will still be ok down the road becasue I expect next off-season to come with a couple to a few retirments and that could open up our cap space a little bit. -
Aaron Downey and Darren McCarty will not be offered contracts
Dimaline312000 replied to uk_redwing's topic in General
As much as I'd like to keep them both, I think the money would be better spent on someone else. Best of luck to Mac and Downs. -
I'll believe it when I see that he has Officially Signed the Deal. Otherwise I think we may still have a shot to get him.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
Dimaline312000 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I have to say that I agree very much with that statement. I want Hossa back I can't stress that enough but there is no reason why the Wings should keep that offer on the table and wait for him to decide. I say Hossa's deadline is Wednesday at 11:59 to make up his mind about what he is going to do. No way should Holland keep waiting and waiting for Hossa he needs to give them a definite answer ASAP. Hopefully Hossa will stay but we have to worry about this team and what the Wings are going to do to make themselves better if Hossa wants to come along on the ride than great but Holland deserves and answer soon. -

Hopefully at leat this issue will be resolved quickly. I want to know something either way. However, if it means Hossa stayin in Detroit I'll wait all summer long. -
I hate to think of it but I'd have to say bye to Lebda..... Just as lon as they don't do what they did last year and just release a D-man like they did Quincey. Hopefull we'll be able to get something for whoever Holland decides to let go.

Heatley is just not our type of player. I'm not saying he isn't good but there is no way he'd fit into our style of play. I wish him the best but I doubt we'll ever see him in Detroit.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
Dimaline312000 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
For me it's worth it. Hossa is a great player and I was so thrilled when we got him here in Detroit and I was hoping we'd be able to sign him to a long term deal before the season ended but now I just hope the Wings can keep him. All this analyzing Hossa's game during the Playoffs and the Finals it makes me wonder would we still be doing this if we won the Cup. Would we care so much that Hossa didn't score if we got the Cup this season. Let's get over the fact that he didn't contribute offensively in the playoffs the way he should have. He's still a great player and I think it's worth losing a few guys to keep a player like him. But it's not about what I think or what you think or what anyone thinks about Hossa or his game it's about if Holland, Hossa and Winter can agree on a deal and a number. I hope they can. -
That doesn't suprise me that two days are sold out already. In fact I'm quite suprised the entire event didn't get sold out on Saturday. Anyone going to the Prospect Camp that didn't get their tickets on Saturday? From what I understood they weren't selling the Prospect Camp tickets then?

I just want to know something ASAP. I wish they'd announce it either way. This sucks. I hate not knowing whats going on. Hopefully Hossa will stay but I'm seriously doubting it. -
As lon as he doesn't use the Hanta Yo speech in any of the Medal Round Games I think the USA has a good chance. Game 2 of the 98 SCF was the best gameo f the Series 5-4 OT Win. Kris Draper Scored in OT to lift the Wings to a 2-0 Lead against the Washington Capitals. Thank god for that speech Ronnie.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
Dimaline312000 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
When will we know something about Hossa? I guess I should have used my head a little more before I bought that Hossa Jersey at this past season's Training Camp. I guess I'll have to go after and Abdelkader Jersey in September. Damn I'm bummed, but I guess it's not the end of the world. -
On, one hand this is a major bummer considering thet Conks played absolutley fantastic for us this past season. I hate to see him go. On the other had Howard deserves a chance to play in the NHL. As I've said before the only consern I have is that Howard won't be able to back Ozzie up and the Wings will be looking for a new Back-up goalie by the Deadline or something. I wish Conks all the best and I thank him for his great play in Detroit and I hate that the Wings weren't able to give him his first Cup. He deserves to Win a Cup and I hope he does real soon. Bring on Howard; it's your time to Shine buddy. I hope you can shine the brightest when we need you the most.

Drop that ***** like a bad habit.

I honestly don't see all of the Wings Free Agents going but it could happen. If it does that could mean we could go after someone a little bit bigger. Maybe not someone huge but someone who can fill a role or two. I'm going to wait and see what happens with Hossa but I don't think we are going to lose everyone that is a FA this season. Holland may not be able to sign everyone and we all know that but he will be able to sign someone. Maybe if we lose a few more players than planned we can have a better chance at looking at some young kids. Who else can come up from GR or wherever besides, Helm, Ericsson, Leino, Abdelkader and Howard. I haven't payed as much attention to our young guys but if someone else can come up maybe that will be a good thing. Just spitballing nothing solid for sure.

My opnion, I don't see him signing with LA. From what he has said he wants a Cup now and I think the Kings will be good in a few seasons. I don't see them being able to offer him a contending team. He will have to be the biggest star on the Kings roster for them to have any chance. I can possibly see the Kings making it to the Playoffs next season with Hossa but I don't know. Than again Hossa has said he wants to stay in Detroit and he has said he will take less money to do so. So I guess you can't really go by what Hossa has been saying all season long. I want Hossa on this roster. I think the Wings do have the best chance at winning a Cup the soonest. If Hossa doesn't sign with Detorit or LA I see him going out East again becasue I really feel that the East just keeps getting stronger year after year. I am concerned about Detroit's future in Hockey. I don't want to have to see another Dead Wings era and I don't see that happening soon but you just never know. I'm optimistic towards the future, I think the Wings have some good players coming up next season and the following seasons. It is going to take a hit on us when Liddy retires and Ozzie retires but I feel that in the coming seasons McCollum will get stronger in the AHL and be able to take over the starting role in Detroit. I just wish the best to Hossa whatever happens but I would really love to have him back in Hockeytown at least for a little bit longer.
