Congratulations to your team for a great finals series

Ok, I wasn't going to bring this up here and I know you can't live in the past and I've been catching a lot of flack from other boarders on other boards bout the whole Crosby Snubbing thing and all but what is the Pens excuse for losing to the Wings last season?? How do you expalin winning a series in 1 less game than this one. I'm not trying to be rude or bitter. I'm also not trying to make excuses for the Wings. They simply didn't bring their game in the last round. Franzen was absent on the Scoreboard along with Hossa. Z was to busy trying to shut down Crosby and Malkin which neither of them did a whole lot in this series, Brads Stuart played a crucial part in the last game basically gift-wrapping the First goal of the game in Game 7 for the Pens. I mean just because you have the Cup now doesn't mean ya need to get high and mighty. Yes you're on the top of the mountain now but that also means you have the targets on your back all next season. So while you can be relieved that you have the Summer to enjoy this Stanley Cup which is a great accomplishment by the Pens Team and Organization don't forget the past. Pens players certainly didn't forget the past and that's what helped them in the Present so I say to you fans just beacuse you are the best team this season doesn't mean you'll be the best next season. So please don't tell me that we are making up excuses when you all did that last year. Thanks.

How sweet would a Wings/Pens finals be next year?

I was really hoping to see a Bruins Vs Wings Finals. That I think would have been way better than this actual series.

Congratulations to your team for a great finals series

Congrats to the Pittsburgh Penguins and to all thier fans. You defintley were the better team and deserved it. The fans in the Igloo remind me alot of the fans in Phoenix in 98 when the Wings Faced the Yotes in the opening round of the 98 Playoffs with how loud and faithful you were and the White-outs you guys were able to do. Great job Fans in cheering your Pittsburgh Penguins to the 2009 Stanley Cup Championship.

How sweet would a Wings/Pens finals be next year?

Anything is possible but I don't see it happening. If it does I would pick the Pens again simply becasue the that would be to much of a chance for the NHL help Pittsburgh and Crosby become the first Post-Cap team to Win the Cup and that would give Crosby and the Pens that much more hype. I will say the Wings didn't help the Conspiracy Theory by their play in the finals and running out of gas. I just don't see both teams making it to the finals for a third strait time. I think the make-up of both teams will be changed to much to see both teams for the Cup again.

    draft?

If we resign Hossa why do we need depth at forward, Helm will come up permanantley and Abdelkader as well as Leino, even if we have to part ways with Sammy, Huds, and someone else I think we shoulds still be ok with forwards? We're not going to have to get rid of all our forwards, I imagaine we'll keep Filps and probably Cleary. I think we'll be ok. I honestly don't see any huge holes we are going to need to fill in this years draft. But I guess I do agree we may need a forward here just to be safe. We are going to have to look at goaltenders come 5th or 6th round to make sure we have a goalie of the future with Howard and Larsson uncertainty. Can Darren Haydar come up this season?? If so will the Wings bring him up to help fill a forward spot??

LOL, I love AI. That was Funny as hell.

    draft?

The question is do the Wings need a top 10 pick?? We all know that the Wings bring their players up as slowly as possible to be able to develop them to the fullest and be better prepared to make that step to the NHL when it comes time. If the Wings draft within the top 10 that player may not need as much devopment and than we have to think about giving him and NHL roster spot. I mean I don't see the Wings going for like a top 3 pick and getting Tavares or Hedman and I'm not sure the Wings would try for a higher pick. I'm not saying I wouldn't like to see the Wings be able to go higher in the draft but I just don't think it's going to happen. I mean I was a bit suprised the Wings held on to their 1st round picke last season and got McCollum, I was thinking that Detroit may trade something to get like a higher round pick in the 2nd or 3rd or even deeper in the draft last draft. I really think Holland is going to want to see what his Cap number is going to be before he makes a major move during the draft. I would expect the Wings to be pretty quiet again this draft. We have plenty of young players ready to move up next season to the big leagues that they won't need to go high in the draft. Staying low and haveing the 29th Pick in each round is going to be fine for them. If anything the Wings will make a move deeper in the draft to maybe get 2 picks in one round.

Keep Hossa, Give him another chance.

    Wings fans listen up

It's not even been a full two days since the Wings lost, there is going to be alot of this talk. I agree we do need to move on and think about the next season. However being that it's still so close to it happening the pain is still ther for a while and it may stay in some of us for longer. We all have to handle this a different way. What got me through it is the fact that the Pens scored the first two goals and that got me out of it right then, it's not as if we scored first and they came back or it went to OT and we lost. I think if either of those would have happened I'ds still be in bed. It's just to fresh in our heads right now, it's going to take a week or two or even more for everyone to stop thinking about it, and even then our minds will linger back to it from time to time. I for one am excited about this off-season that is what is going to help me get through this tough summer. See it's worse for me because I absolutley HATE Summer with a passion but I do look forward to seeing what moves are going to be made around the NHL and right here with the Detroit Red Wings. When it comes time we will move forward and put this behind us but as of right now it's going to tough for a while.

    Jay Bouwmeester

I wouldn't, not chance in Hell. Bouwmeester is a great D-man and can put the puck in the net. Our problem was not defense this season our problem was just being tired and beat up and just didn't have the fire we had last season. No reason to be making hasty big changes just becasue we lost the Cup. Remember we made it to the Finals and 7 Games. If our problem was on defense we would have been out in the first round.

Who is worse to lose to

Everyone is different and it takes all kinds to live in this world. If you don't understand it's no big deal it's just how we are as individuals.

Get a new goalie- Get a good goal scorer

Even the best Goal Scorer isn't always going to score. Pavs can get the puck to whoever he wants whenever he wants doesn't mean it's always going to be a Goal for the Wings. Also I'm not concerned about Ozzie right now at this point. Once he starts showing his age I think than I will be worried. I think that when it comes to that point he will need to retire. I don't want to see him do what Hasek did; Hasek didn't even need to do what he did. We are all looking at Hossa as the big let down here, yes he didn't produce in the playoffs but a lot of players didn't produce in the playoffs or in the Finals. Pittsburgh's D was WAY BETTER than it was last year and eliminated a lot of our top goal scores from even touching the puck. Maybe Hossa thought that the rest of the team was going to be able to carry him to the Cup, I don't know if I believe that or not but I don't think we need to kick him out just yet. I know we are all analyzing this team like crazy right now becasue we lost the Cup but give it another week or two to settle in and let's get back to really thinking about what can be done and what should be done. No matter what we say it's up to the Wings organzation to make the moves and hopefully they will be the right moves, I don't know. Let's just stop all of this for a little bit sit down think about everything and let the fact that the Pens won simmer for a bit than come back refershed and with a clear head.

Who is worse to lose to

My way of thinking is if we can't have the Cup than I don't wanna get close to it. I know that in a way that sounds carzy because winning only means more home games and more games to watch and a shorter off-season for the Wings but getting that close to the Cup and not getting it hurts. It would hurt for any team. the Sens in 07 the Oilers in 06 and so on and so forth. To get so close that you can taste it and not having it work out makes a player and some fans wanna stay in bed for a month and not talk to anyone. I would scarfice a little success to be able to see something like Pronger nail Crosby and or Malkin. I would rather know it's not possible sooner than to know it's not possible later, either way you lose.

    Training Camp 2009?

Will they release the Prospect Camp tickets the same day as the Training Camp Tickets are released? Also when the in-person and online ticket release dates are announced can someone please post them. I will be checking the Centre Ice website daily but in case we miss it. Thanks.

    Marian Hossa, merged

I can't see the Wings letting Hossa go this off-season. I thnk the Wings will sign him to at least a 5 year but I hope it's more like 7 or 8 year deal. I think the Wings keep Hossa. No a one year deal won't work again for Hossa.
  16. Dimaline312000

    Pittsburgh Penguins cap situation

I think it's safe to say that we won't be seeing Pittsburgh or Detroit in the Finals next season.
  17. Dimaline312000

Who is worse to lose to

I personally would have taken the loss to Anaheim in Game 7 to Root for the Ducks to go to the Finals and kick the crap out of Crosby and Malkin. Even if The Pens still won the Cup I would just love to see Pronger end Crosby for a while.
  18. Dimaline312000

    Marian Hossa, merged

I would give Hossa another playoff chance before I start throwing him into the Lions Den. Yes he didn't play well at all in the Playoffs but I think he deserves another chance to prove that he can shine in the playoffs. There were a lot of dissappointments this season in the playoffs, a lot of players didn't play to their full potential. Doesn't mean we should break up a good thing. I say let's get rid of the players that we need to but keep the core of the team as intact as possible and keep the guys that are top grade, high quality players Hossa being one of them.

Draper ticked that Crosby snubbed Lidstrom

Forget about Crosby not shaking hands with Lids, how the hell do you explain Crosby snubbing Babcock. Crosby just turned his back on him before Babsy was even don payin him a COMPLIMENT. That really shows Maturity on his part. Crosby shouldn't have been doing any friggin interveiws until at least that formality was over.
  20. Dimaline312000

    looking way ahead

First I would like to say that I hope we do keep Hossa, I know he bobbled in this series and really wasnt offensively active much in the playoffs but I think if he was given another chance he'd be able to learn from this past season and playoffs and be more prepared for next season. Now once Lids retires I don't think Holland will go after a big name goalie. Tom McCollum is going to be in GR next season and if he continues to play as well as he has in the Juniors this season. Helping his team to make it to the Memorial Cup Finals. I think on defense we will be ok. Big E will develop over the years and I think he can fill a void on defense and Jakub Kindl I believe is going to be able to come up soon unless we move him and he had a pretty good season in Grand Rapids this past season I mean he was on the AHL All-Star Team this season so if Holland and Babsy think that he is ready than we will be able to have another D-Man in the line-up. Don't forget depending on what happens this season or next season we still have Kronwall who is a great Defensman along with Sturart, Rafalski who will probably be lookin at the end of his career in the coming years and Lebda and if Lils can get healthy and come back that would be great. When it comes time for Ozzie to hang up the pads I think Tom McCollum will be ready to make his way into the NHL I know the Wings like to develop their players slowly but if he can keep playing this good maybe they won't have to which would be a big relief. I really feel that in the coming years Detroit will be fine. Now I wish I could predict when the Wing ARE going to Win another Cup but no one can do that we may need to build on small accomplishments at a time and move forward making changes when necessary. I really feel that we will be fine and I don't see going after a big name goalie would need to be done unless something drastic happens.

    The Mule

There were alot of players that were a disappointment this series for the Wings. I said first and foremost that when I knew the Pens and Wings were going to face each other again for the Cup that Hossa had to take this series personal and I don't think he did. When you take something personal in most people it drives you to play harder than you have ever. Hossa I must say was the first disappoitment. I know that there is a thread on here that says Leave Brad Stuart Alone but he did have some giveaways that did LOOK like they could have been avoided a couple to a few times throughout the entire playoffs and a couple times in the regular season. Sturat was another disappointment. Franzy I believe was a disappointment but not as big as some others. As someone said you Win and Lose as a team and it's not right to single out players but there were a few players that I thought could have brought their game to that upper level. It didn't happen and that's shame and it's time to move on but you are right The Mule and a couple of others were a little disappointing.

Draper ticked that Crosby snubbed Lidstrom

I'm sorry I just have to laugh at that Username :SteelCityDynasty: Give me a F'ing break already your'e letting this Cup go to your head. Don't forget last season Wings beat the Pens in LESS games and also Crosby and Malkin were watching Zetterberg and Datsyuk skate circles around them all series long last year. I was going to Congratulate the Pens and their fans for being so good and I was also going to say the Fans in Pittsburgh was a huge inspiration for the Penguins liffting the Cup this season but now I think I'll just say Congrats on having the Targets on your back for all of next season. I hope I can catch an Anaheim Vs Pittsubrgh game next season just to see if Pronger can plant Crosby's face into the boards.
  23. Dimaline312000

Draper ticked that Crosby snubbed Lidstrom

I was not happy about that at all and I was also not happy that Crosby also snubbed Babcock in the line as well. As Detroit Coach Mike Babcock was congratulating Sidney Crosby and telling him that he showed great leadership; Crosby turns his back and skates away before Babsy get's to even finish his COMPLIMENT to Crosby. I'm sorry but now I want Crosby's head on a platter. Complete disrespect for a person in his role or by anyone for that matter. It makes me sick.

    USA Today article

I hope he's right about everything except the 2 OT's. Although as someone said I'll take a 2 OT Detroit Red Wings Winner over a Regulation Loss. If it goes into OT I'm taking about 3 or 4 shots of Jim Beam.
  25. Dimaline312000

    What will..

I was actually debating doing that at least 2 or 3 to help calm my nerves once the game gets going. I'm still not sure if I will or not.
