In 1999 my favorite Minor League hockey team was going for their first Championship and one of the players that was the biggest part of a game 6 and Cup Clinching Vitory had played with a broken leg I'm not sure how long it was broken but through the series his leg was broken and he played but the reason he was able to play is the Dr.'s and Team Medical Staff froze it so that he couldn't feel the pain. With the Cup on the line I'm just wondering if that is an option for Dats wether his leg is broken or not.?.? BTW: The player that had the broken leg scored 3 goals in that game and helped the team come from behind in the game 5-2 to win the Game and the Cup 6-5

I hope that Dats would be back for Game 3 and the rest of the games. I just hope he can come back close to 100%. I know that is close to impossible but if he can come back and have a postive influence for the Wings I think this will be good. He's a great player and even though the Wings have done well without him it would be that much better to have him back and become an offensive threat again. I had to respond to this thread becaus the title couldn't fit me better. I'm hoping that a 2-0 lead won't be a false sence of security for us and we can fight through our tiredness and pull out 2 more Wins. Yes we need to at least take one game in Pittsburgh in game 3 or 4. I perfer taking it in Gam 3 but that will be very difficult. I'm still so nervous I can't even enjoy things in my life right now. I can barley eat and my mind is constantly on this series, my stomach is turning nots right now. I'm so focused on this series no one knows how bad I want this Stanley Cup back in Detroit at least one more time this season. It's going to take a lot for me to get through this series and when it's all said and done hopefully the pressure can be lifted in a good way, but until then I have to endure. Holmsy is getting up there in age and I think you probably will see some kind of decline in his play. I think he is still effective and has a great role on this team. You know there's going to come a time when a thread like this will come up and it's going to have our Captains' name on it. Some of our guys are getting older and I think that's why we are bringing up some younger players to help fill the holes. I just hope we can concentrate on this Finals Series and hope we can keep the Cup in Detroit. Let's Go Detroit Red Wings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pavs is a tremendous player and this time of year it doesn't suprise me that he will be playing through a lot of pain if he does come back for Game 3 and on. I'm sure a lot of players are probably playing through some amount of pain but as they say this is the Stanley Cup and you do what you have to do to win. I'm more concerned about passion and how much gas is left in the tank for everyone. I know the Pens are hungry for a Cup after last season and I'm hoping that the Wings are that much hungrier to keep the Cup. I can't say what this means to me right now.... I traded them for 2 players that are not real players they are game created players but they had an overall ranking of high 80's and a 1st Round draft pick to Anaheim. I was getting pretty nerveous about it because every trade I was trying to put together was either getting rejected or was a violation of the Cap. As to your comment disappearer yes I do have a lot of stars on my team and the reason for that is I'm into my Dynasty mode by about 8 to 10 seasons or more and each year on the game the Cap goes up so I just make my trades wisley and I make sure I never pay any free agent what they want I either up the years by 1 or 2 years or a drop my offering price $200,000 or more.

Ok anyone that knows me knows I'm very supersticious when it comes to hockey I have my Playoff beard and I have a Day of Game Routine and many other things that help me get through these playoffs. I am playing NHL 09 for PS3 I'm in Dynasty Mode and I'm about 10 to 12 seasons into it I have on my Detroit Red Wings roster Evegeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby. Now when the Real Red Wings were playing their series between the Blue Jackets I didn't do anything because I didn have anyone from their current roster on my roster. Next series when the Real Wings were playing aganist the Ducks I had signed Ryan Getzlaf as a free agent so I traded him and we won the series. This past series Chicago Vs Detroit I had Patrick Kane and I traded him and we won the series now against the Pens I have Malkin and Crosby and I need to get a census on what I should do. Now before anyone makes any comments consider the follwing. Malkin is one of my highest point getters. Crosby is just on my 2nd line and isn't really a scoring threat for me. I'm about 4 or 5 weeks away from the trade deadline so If I play anymore after I did trade them if I do then I might not be able to get them back after this series no matter what happens. So my question is Do you all think I need to trade Malkin and Crosby until this series is over? Thanks to everyone who replies in advance.

Congrats to Windsor but I was going for Brampton because of Thomas McCollum. However being a finalist is pretty good too.

Well I wish I would have read this before this Game 4 of the WCF after Hossa has scored two goals in this game. What I think Babsy needs to do if he hasn't done it already is put Hossa on the spot go to him and say that he needs him to bring his game up a level after all he did leave Pittsburgh to com to Detroit to Win a Cup this is his chance. Now one player can't win a game or a Cup but this is Hossa's time and he along with the over Big Guns on this Detroit Roster need to step it up more on offense. I think that if Babsy hasn't done that already that is what he needs to do and not to just Hossa. Zetter,Dats,Liddy,Holmsy all of them have to step it up to be successful becasue even if Detroit gets past the Hawks the Penguins are going to be even more tough this season than they were last season and that worries me alot. I'll be honest I really don't want to play you guys again. Because I have seen so much improvment for Pittsbugh this season. From going from a team that looked like they were going to miss the playoffs to a team that looks like it's going to make a return trip to the SCFinals. Your team has improved so much over this past season and I do believe in my team and support the Detroit Red Wings to death I'm worried about playing you guys again. Last year was a great series and I think it will be again as long as these two teams return to play for the Cup again. I'm hoping for the same outcome as last season only in fewer games and i'm sure that you and the Pens are hoping to reverse the roles. With the type of team that you have again this season it wouldn't surprise me if you guys did. I have to say no matter what happens I think you and the Penguins can expect a Stanley Cup in the Steel City soon. I'm hoping the Wings can have one more season in the sun before the rest of the league get's their fair crack at the Wings. As much as I want to keep Hossa I just don't know if we can. Out of those three mentioned I'd be most willing to suffer the loss of Filppula. I think we are going to have to look at the cap right when it is addresed by the league and see how we can structure it. Goaltending I think is going to be a bigger issue that keeping or not keeping 3 great players. Holland said before the game on Trade deadline day that we were going to lose players no matter what and that he doesn't expect the cap to change much. Osgood we have locked in Howard won't be able to go back down so the bigger question is what to do with him many people and when I say people I me fans think Howard can't be a quality back-up or the Wings goalie of the future. I haven't heard much talk from any of the players or office staff of what they think about Jimmy. Conklin I'm willing to bet that Conklin is gone after this season. I personally would like to see them give Howard an chance and maybe by the time Ozzie's contract is up or by the time he retires we'll be able to bring McCollum up because from what I've heard he turns pro this coming season and will be in GR for the start of next season. McCollum has be a great goaling in Juniors his team did make it to the Memorial Cup Finals and he was a big part of that. Maybe he will be able to get into the system faster and be brought up faster. Jim Howard didn't develop as fast as the Wings could have used him which in a way is fine because they made do and brought in goalies as needed. How much can we plan on spending on a back-up for Ozzie if we keep Howard how much is he going to want if we trade him and get a different goalie how much are we going to have to spend on him. Sammy I think will be gone after this season. That may open up some cap space to sign Hossa remember Holland did say he wanted to lock up one player before this season was over and he did that in Franzen and than see what happens after the season is over so the Wings may still have a chance at keeping Hossa if they really want him. As of right now Hossa looks like he is as good as gone because he's not producing the way we need him to this last in the playoffs. Franzen has been consistent again in these playoffs so it was a much better idea to sign Franzen first. Let's not forget the draft not that we need anyone in a hurry and with the log-jam on Defense we shouldn't need anyone but maybe the Wings work out a deal to get a high drat pick in the 1st round or a high pick in the other 6 rounds. We need to star thinking future as well Liddy isn't going to be here forever and Holmsy won't either the Wings need to find another play that is willing to go to the net like Tomas has done throughout his entire career. When Lidstrom does go I'm confindent that the Blueline will be good and yes with players like Z, Dats and the Mule our offense should be good. Chelly I would't keep Chelios if he was willing to play for just $100.00 we don't need a part time defenseman and to me that is what he as become this season for the Wings. Stuart and Rafalski are also in question to. Maybe not so much Rafalski leaving next season but in another season or to and Sturat looks like he may also be good trade bait or something like that. Another question we could address is how physical is this team going to be in the future. Granted we still ended up beating the Ducks with I think so far has been the most physical team in the playoffs but do the Wings need some size to be able to through the body around and have someone who can take care of the scores so that the big players on the other teams don't mess with them. Right now I'm personally favoring keeping as many young players as possible. Alot is going to be determined once the Wings find out what the Cap is going to do Forgive me for running on but this off-season to me is going to be the most intersting one in a long time for this team. Also forgive me if I coverd a topic that was already coverd.

I don't really hate or dislike any member of the Blackhawks like I do the Ducks. Every player plays the way they play and I really haven't seen very much if any dirty stuff done in this series like the last one. I will say there are some players that I don't like just cause of their offensive threat but that's not just he Hawks. I think this series is looking very good and even if there isn't very much emotion it can still make for some great hockey. I've wanted to see and orginal six matchup in the Confernece and or Cup finals at least in the West for a long time and I'm glad to be able to watch this one. This series is far from over no matter what anyone thinks and I think it will be better and better hockey for us fans to watch.

Hopefully Dats is not injured and he's just a taking the day off to prepare for the game in Chicago. He has played a big part in your physical game but hasn't seen the score sheet recently. A lot of our big guns haven't been able to produce points like they have in the past. If we are going to get past the Hawks our big guns are going to have to start getting it done. While it's nice that the other guys are chipping in but Hossa, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg all need to find twine soon so the Wings can get the W's they need for hopefully another Stanley Cup Championship.
