Would love to see the Wings get him and have him in the line-up ASAP!!

I completely agree; I'd much rather see the Wings give Nyquist the spot over a guy like Semin. Nyquist gives our team a good youth injection and we haven't seen his full ability to operate in an entire 82 game regular season and playoffs. I think he'd become very valuable to our team very quickly. We've all seen Semin and his ability to be Streaky. Give the sport to Gustav!!

Homer is one of my favorite players and has been for some time however, I'd personally rather see him and Liddy retire. If we did however sign him it needs to be after we get some UFA's signed and he must be willing to take less money and accept less ice time. Seems like it would be better if Homer retired. We have to start phasing in some newer younger guys on the roster now is as good a time as any.

It would be great if the Cap did increas for next season that way the Wings could still go after who they want in the Free Agent Market and keep Lidstrom if he decides to come back. If Liddy does retire it would give us even more space to make the team even better by bringing in some new blood and bring up some guys from GR. So hopefully the Cap does increas becasue it would really open more does for Detroit and give them more options and that's always good to have.

Amen!! When are they gonna come up with something new that there may actuall be some truth too. It was a tough season now doubt but with the right moves in the Off-Season the Wings can rebound and become a better Contender next season.

I have to admit that I didn't not see this being a sweep. I mean I knew if LA could beat Van and they were the best team in the Regular season than they could easily beat the #2 seed as long as they played as hard as they did against the Canucks. It was a great effort for the Kings. Hopefully if all goes well it will be LA and Phx in the Conference Finals. As far as that goes I hope the Coyotes can come out on top especially since I was hoping it was Stl Vs NYR in the Cup Finals with New York Winning the Cup. Hopefully it will be PHX and NYR IMO and I'd still be rooting for the Rangers but it wouldn't break my heart if th Yotes did win and Shane Doan got his Cup. Nice Work Kings!!

Ironically I am rooting for the same 3 teams to lose and for pretty much the same reason too!! I really wanna see the Rangers win the Cup just becasue I'd like to see the Original 6 Teams Trend to Continue. Det in 08, Chi in 10, Bos in 11, and hopefully NYR in 12 IMO!!

I really didn't like the way this deal went down to get him this season. We had to give up our 1st Round Draft Pick this season as well as Piche and even though it wasn't the same deal we essentially gave up Commodore as well. Quincey was only a 3rd round pick so giving up a 1st for him IMO was stupid. I know the Wings have a good history of being able to pick good players late in the draft but giving up a 1st round pick at anytime kills me, whether we have the 1st or the 30th Overall. With so many questions being asked about our Defense it's really hard to say whether Quincey would be back or not next season. I do agree with Travis in the fact that I couldn't see them getting him back if they didn't plan on keeping him. I do like the options of extending him a qualifing offer that way we'd either get him or we'd get something out of it for him. You have to assume that Smith will be up next season no matter what. I hate the thought of losing both Stuart and Lidstrom in one off-season but I'm at the point that I'd rather see Liddy go now that way we have a good chance at getting a suitable replacement for him in Free Agency. It really wouldn't matter to me either way if we kept Quincey or not, we just need a change so that we can get back into being a better contender for the Cup.

I guess not too suprising, he definelty hasn't been the Scott Gomez he was for the Devils years ago. With such a big cap hit even with buying him out you have to wonder if it would be better to just keep him and find a way for him to get his game back.

Hopefully this helps the Yotes get 3 Games up on them tonight.

He seemed to have a really good camp last September so give him a few more years and I'd expect to see him in a Wings Jersey one day!!

Good article, I agree the Wings need to have more fun and really agree about getting some confidence back. This is a good hockey club and we don't need a major shake-up but we do need some new blood and even som young blood in the line-up next season. Our big guns did not preform at all in the playoffs add to Nashville being a strong team and Rinne being a phenominal goalie... well you saw what happened. Wings need to get stronger on the Power Play that's for sure and depending on what Liddy and Holmsy do we are going to need a big D-Man. Wings definetly need a younger goal scorer to help spark the Euro-Twins and the Mule next season and as long as we have the Cap Space may as well get what we need while we can. I still say the Wings need more of a youth injection. Yes we have to have our Veteran Leadership but our younger guys have that drive and that fire within to help this team so Wings need to make our younger players bigger role players and attempt to get them producing a bit more. However it did seem like our 3rd and 4th lines were producing more in the playoffs than our big guns so I guess that righ there goes to show you that the younger guys can fill those shoes. Confidence is a very tricky thing. I've battled that for 3 years in the Hockey I play and sure you need to score goals and feel like you're producing and helping your team to get confidence but you have to realize that even stuff that may go unnoticed can give you confidence even if it's the smallest thing you have to find some confidence somewhere becuse if you only get confidence from scoring goals or getting assits you're either gonna have to be a top player in the league or you not gonna last long playing this game. Also what's the word on Eaves. I know it's a long ways away but is he going to be able to come back or no? I mean it's a waste of a roster spot to have a player that's injured just sitting there. I mean I know it wasn't his fault that he got injured but can the Wings still keep him on the roster and still be able to get what we need while he's getting better or can we trade him and get something for him, not that anyone is going to be willing to give up anything for an injured player but even if we just got the cap and roster space for him it would be ok. So IMO we do ned to make some changes but I don't think they have to be major changes, just tweaking the roster a bit.

Go Yotes!! I pulling for Phoenix and so far so good at least one game but I do believe that Nashville is a little bit stronger and has a good chance to take the series in 6 but if the Yotes can continue to play strong and maybe get a couple lucky bounces they could do it in 6 so this should be the start of a pretty good series.

Sorry but IMO Luongo is an Overrated Goalie. Granted he is good and has been stellar at times but he hasn't lived up to all the hype I've heard about him. Granted he's had a few injuries and that has held him back a bet but he's still a quality and high caliber goaltender and hopefully whereever he does go he can help that team.

This should be a good series, I'm pulling for the Blues and if they can stay strong than I'll say Blues in 6 possibly 7!!

Wings have already traded their 2010 1st Round Draft Pick to Tampa for Quincey so we wouldn't be albe to make that deal anyway unless they put their 2013 1st Round Draft Pick up for trade. Which I don't think they should do that for anyone. Suter would be a good pick-up if we can get him for a reasonable price no matter what Liddy does.

It's been a weird Stanley Cup Playoffs 1st Round and while it doesn't take the pain away that the Wings are out it does help ease it a bit to know that Chicago, Vancouver, San Jose, and Pittsburgh are all on the Golf Course with us. Can't wait to see what Rd 2 has in store for us. Let's Go Rangers!!
