Why is Cleary still on the team?

Cleary is definetly not as effective as he used to be, he could be used as trade-bait during the draft or something or just not offered a contract at the end of this season. With all the new young prospects coming up they need to make room and Cleary would be an ideal player to move not sure what we could get for him in a trade but even a 6th or 7th round pick would be better than how he's played of late. This team has a lot of depth and if Eaves can come back from injury by at least next season, we'd still be plenty deep without Cleary. Plus I'm sure we'd find someone to replace him if we didn't offer him a contract and keep our depth. This is one of the reason's I'm actually a bit excited for this off-season, becasue I have high hopes and expectations that the Wings will have a roster shake-up in July whether it's a major shake-up or minor one.

Babcock is making a huge mistake

I want Jimmy back as soon as possible but I don't want him coming back too soon. We're in the playoffs and anything can happen yes we need a healty team going into the playoffs and I'm sure that if Howie is ready come Friday he will play. Looking at this team, and how it's played this season it doesn't look like a Stanley Cup Championship Team at least IMO. Babsy is a very smart and very wise coach and know's how to coach this team. He'll play his players if they are ready, yes 4th place would be better than 5th but in the playoffs anything can happen either way a series Vs the Preds will NOT be easy.

    Quincey vs. Stuart

I'd really love to be able to keep both of them. Stuart has been a quality guy since we got him in 07/08. I don't think he will stay but it would be nice to keep him if we can whether Liddy stays or goes. As for Quincey we have given up way to much to get him back and I'd hate to see him go after this season, he's a good young Defenseman with a lot of talent and skill and still has youth on his side. So both of them would be great to keep however for some reason I just don't see us being able to keep Stuart, I hope I'm wrong but based on some of the stuff I've heard whether it's just rumors or not it seems he may go back to California next season.

    Howard vs. Schneider

Howard for sure. He's already proven he's a quality goalie, Schneider doesn't even come close to Jimmy's skill and effort!!

    Patrick Eaves

Agreed he's not a dinosaur at all. He just keeps getting injured, I know that's not his fault but it just isn't good for him or the teams he plays for. I'd almost rather see if we can deal Eaves in the off-season to make room for our prospects, obviously we can't trade an injured player but it just sucks to see the Wings lose so many young players who spend all that time in Juniors and GR only to be traded or waived before they get a chance to make the Wings roster. I get what most of you are saying about Emmerton and somewhat agree but each player develops at his own pace. Yes Emmerton needs to be more productive and more physical but perhaps he just hasn't found his game yet, this is just the first season he's supposed to be up. Give him an off-season to improve and if the Wings don't see much of an improvment by the halfway point of next season than deal him but don't lose him to waivers or trade him before he really gets a good shot to prove anything.

    Nyquist needs to stay here

Congrats to Gustav for scoring his 1st Career NHL Goal!! This kid is a good, smart, young player, can't wait to see him fully developed!!
  7. Dimaline312000

    Patrick Eaves

It would be great to have everyone healthy for the playoffs but Eaves returns would probably mean Emmerton or Mursak would see a significant cut in ice-time and I for one would rather see the Wings give their younger players as much ice-time as possible so they can develop and become proven players on this roster. Eaves is a great player but the Wings need to start giving their younger players a better look and bring them up whenever possible.

    Happy Turtle Day

That night was about making a statment and I think the Avs heard it loud and clear. What a night that was, I didn't go to sleep till after 2AM that night becasue I was still so hocked up with adrenaline. That was just so great to see, I don't have to see any fights in a game to call it a great game but that night was special and it NEEDED to happen!! The Road To The 1st Of 4 Stanley Cups in Recent History!!!! Go Wings!!!!

    Dallas

Whether its Chi, Nas, or Dal their all going to be a tough opponent, yes I agree that Dallas would be the most physical but Nashville and Chicago have some bruising guys to, not like the Stars do but close. Any opponent will be tough for the Wings espcially if they don't get healthy before the playoffs. They also really NEEED to get their Power Play working becasue a team really needs their Special Teams to be good to go far in the playoffs, so I don't really see it making a difference who we play it won't be easy. Now out of those 3 I would definetly rather see the Wings play the Stars in the 1st Round because I think we can beat them but I've felt that way before about teams and they've ended up beating us so what happens happens I guess. Go Wings!!

    Needs to be said

I'd rather just see the Wings do what they can do. I said it in July when we did all of our signing of players that I just wasn't impressed with. I really don't see this team going very far and I don't see this team being a Stanley Cup Championship Team. I hope I'm wrong and I still have high hopes for this team but not high expectations. I'm at point where I'd rather see the Wings get some new blood in the line-up with bringing up players from GR and bringing in some big name players to help us out. This team has been one of te wort teams I've seen on the Power Play and while I know we can't have a #1 Power Play every year it would be nice to at least have a top 10 Power Play. You don't go far in the playoffs if you can't run your special teams well, so it really doesn't matter where we finish the regular season and who we play in the playoffs what happens happens and the Wings will have to be ALOT better in the playoffs to go deep.
  11. Dimaline312000

Which team would piss you off the most if they won the cup?

Pens first and foremost simply becasue I'm sick of hearing about Crosby and Malkin. I really wish the Wings had one more game against the Pens this season before the playoffs becasue I'd love to see Crosby get Kronwalled and be DONE so I wouldn't have to hear about him anymore. Secondly any Canadian or Californian team would piss me off to see them win the Cup.
  12. Dimaline312000

    Nyquist needs to stay here

It would definetly be a good idea to keep Nyquist up with the Wings for as long as possible and even into the playoffs if we can. Maybe a small youth injection is just what this team needs for a late season spark and a good run in the playoffs. Not sure if he's a top 6 forward on this team but who knows and if he's given the right amount of ice-time on the 3rd or 4th line he could still prove to be very valuable.

    Crosby

The question HERE is is Crosby the best player in the NHL not is he the best of all time. So to ANSWER YOUR QUESTION no I don't think Henri Richard is the best player of all time. The way I define the best player in the NHL is being a team guy. This is a team sport so despite all of Crosby's accomplishments he's only led his team to 1 Stanley Cup so far. In the end the Cup is the only thing that matters, not your money made or all the goals you score or records broke. When a player looks back on their career their going to see how many Stanley Cups they won or didn't win. A player can win numerouse individual player awards in their career but I bet if you ask 90% of the now retired players that never won a single Stanley Cup if they would give back all of their individual player trophies they've won througout their entire career for 1 Stanley Cup I bet they'd say yes that they would give all that up for 1 Cup. That's how I think. I'm not denying that Crosby is one of the greats right now and I'm not even saying he couldn't be the best player in the NHL but I SEE The Stanley Cup as being the ultimate prize and the ultimate goal in a players Career. Yes it matters the kind of team you're on to win a Cup or multiple Cups but this is a team sport and no one player can do it all.... Not even everyone's favorite little boy Mr. Face Of The NHL Sidney Crosby. Does he have the ability to be the greatest player of all-time in the NHL yes I'm sure he does, he's a special player with a ton of talent and skill but there is a long list of players that have already proven they are or were one of the best in the NHL. Crosby can most likely lead the Pens to multiple Cups in his career and be defined as one of if not the greatest players in the NHL of All-Time or not, right now I say he isn't. Lidstrom has 4 Stanley Cups and yes has been on a great team to win those 4 Stanley Cups but as I said this is a team sport and no one player can do it all and win the Cup for his team. What I'm saying is I've seen a lot of great players come and go in this league that have and haven't won Stanley Cups but have broke scoring records and won player numerous player awards and such that in my mind Crosby isn't there yet. Right now in my mind Pavel Datsyuk is a greater player in the NHL than Crosby becasue he's got 2 Cups. So the way I see a great player is can he be a part of a team and help lead his team to One or More Stanley Cups and that the Cup is the Ultimate in Hockey. That's just how I see this topic. I don't appreciate being told my way of thinking is flawed. I'm fine with someone not agreeing with me or having a difference in opnion and discuss it intlectually but how a person thinks is just how they think wether it's right or wrong. Now I'm done with this topic if you want to discuss it further you can message me or whatever but now that I've spoke my mind I'm leaving this alone so I won't be checking this one again.

    Crosby

My Logic is MY LOGIC, You can think it's flawed but that's the way I think and the way I feel. I may be wrong about Lidstorm being the best player but I don't believe that Crosby is the BEST PLAYER OF ALL-TIME. I can't think the way I want and feel the way I feel and I'm somewhat offended in your wording becasue it's MY PERSONAL OPNION. It may not be a fact but the way I mesuare a player is by Stanley Cups whether it's a team effort or one player doing it all. I know that one player can't win a Team a Stanley Cup just because the Wings have won the most Cups in recent history doesn't mean that I think the Wings are the BEST TEAM OF ALL TIME. Motreal Canadiens have 24 Stanley Cups so IMO The Habs are THE BEST TEAM OF ALL TIME. My logic is not flawed my logic is my logic and that's just the way it is like it or not that's the way I feel and that's the way I mesaure a player is by Counting Their Cups!!

Did Holland build a BMW instead of a Chevy?

I agree with your statement F.Michael!!!! So the real question we sould be asking is..... Is Holland The Problem and is he getting to old to do this job??
  16. Dimaline312000

    Crosby

I can't vote on this but I'll speak my mind. Crosby is an AMAZING player there's no dout about that. The way I mesaure a player in this type of question is by counting Stanley Cups, to me the Cup is the Ultimate. A player can score 100 Goals in a season and even amass 150 to 200 Points per season for their entire career and yes the will break records and be a part of Hockey History but in the end what's this game all about?.... The Stanley Cup. Crosby has one already and according to so many people I hear about or talk to believe he'll win numerous Cups in his career and that may be but as of right now dispite Crosby's outstanding come back and all his goals and points in my opnion Lidstrom is the best player in the NHL right now. I'm sure people will argue with my way of thinking but that's just how I am, in the end, at the end of a players NHL Career after all their Millions $$$$ are made and personal records achieved and broken the Stanley Cup is all that matters and how many Rings you've won.

Did Holland build a BMW instead of a Chevy?

I said this back in July after seeing who all we signed and the changes to the roster we made. I don't expect THIS team to do very much. Yes I'm still a HUGE DIE HARD Wings fan and will always stand behind them but I don't see this team winning a Cup this season. I hope I'm wrong and I still have High Hopes but not High Expectations for this season's team. I look forward to next season. I'd say I look forward to the off-season but essentially I don't becasue I HATE Summer and the Off-Season. I'm very interested in seeing what they Wings do this off-season but this team just doesn't seem to have it this season. Hopefully next season!!

    The Rocket

I know this is an old movie and it has very little to do with the Red Wings but I just purchased my copy of the DVD The Rocket "The Legend of Rocket Richard" and I have to say it is one of the best Hockey Movies I've ever seen. In fact 2 former Detroit Red Wings make guest apperances in the film. Sean Avery plays and enforcer by the New York Rangers though I can't remember just who exactally he plays as also Mathieau Dandeniult (sorry for mis-spelling) but he also plays in it and Mike Ricci I think we all remember him in Colorado he plays one of Richard's teammates in the film. The film was made in 05 I beleive and stars Roy Dupius. It is a great movie. They do make a few references to about the Red Wings seein as the time of the film is set in Original Six times. Just wanted to share and let anyone know that is looking for a good hockey movie that hasn't seen it that it's well worth at least renting but even more worth owning. I absolutley HATE the Montreal Canadieans but I do respect them as a team and it's a great Hockey Movie!!!!

    The Rocket

I haven't seen Net Worth, looks like another Hockey Movie i'm gonna have to see if I can find to buy it. I can't believe I have a story about a Canadiean before a story about a Red Wing... Shame on me. Go Wings!!

D Commodore dealt to Lightning for cond. 7th round pick

So let me understand this, Commie has to play at least 15 regular season games and the Bolts have to make the playoffs this season for the Wings to get a pick in the 13 Draft???? So if only Commies plays his amount of games but the Bolts don't make the playoffs we get nothing???? If that's the case than WTF. I understand wanting to clear some space but shouldn't we at least get some type of garuntee for Commodore??
  21. Dimaline312000

Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)

While I'm happy to have Quincey back on the Wings Roster I'm really not happy with giving up a 1st Round Draft Pick. Yes I know the Wings don't really need a Round One Draft Pick but I just HATE to see the Wings give up Draft Picks. With the way the rest of the NHL teams seem to building so well through the Draft I don't think it's wise to give up anything like that especially if we're Detroit who is going to be seeing the remaining players from all 4 Recent Cups be retiring soon. I know we have some great players now and some great ones coming up in the future but it'd be nice to have options espeically with the way we develop our players nice an slow maybe be able to throw a couple good round one drafted players in the line up in case of emergencies. Just my 2 Cents. I don't like giving up any Draft Picks.
  22. Dimaline312000

    Somethings brewin'?

It wouldn't suprise me either way. I don't really expect to see the Wings do anything else but you never know. I really can't see them going after anything big right now. I think they'd rather see what Liddy is going to do and hit the UFA Market in July seeing as there seems to be a lot of big names up for grabs this off-season. Whether they do or don't I don't think I'd be shocked unless is was something big. Whatever they feel is best for the team I'm behind the Wings 100%!! Go Red Wings!!
  23. Dimaline312000

How open would you be to trading Hank?

I would NOT be open to trading Hank at all, he is way to valuable. He's struggling to get a lot of point production right now but I'm confident he'll find his rythm soon.
  24. Dimaline312000

    When Eaves comes back...

First off I'm not completly sure why Eaves was resigned this past off-season. Yes he's a good player but he's also had some injuries and he's one of the players that is replaceable. It seems to me the majority of people on here think Emmerton should go if we do anything as far as trading or waiving this season. My question is have we as fans given him a long enough oppertunity to be better and grow?? I'd say NO. He's young and yes he isn't a top star on this team and may never be a top star on this team or any other team in the NHL but he does have some value. Wings can't keep drating these players than taking so much time and effort in developing them on to waive or trade every single one. Example Quincey, Ritola, even Newbury imo had some value. I'm not saying who I'd want to get rid of because I really don't know yet but I just think that we all should give these younger players a chance to develop their skills in the NHL and see what they can do with the Wings before we send them packing.
  25. Dimaline312000

    Lidstrom on NHL 36!

Definetly gonn have to tape this one!!
