The league wouldn't work real well if players were allowed to play wherever they wanted for whomever they wanted for any amount of money they wanted. Try looking at the bigger picture.

Apparently Scotty wants to throw all NHL defensemen under the bus for the sake of creating offense. I don't approve.

No... Terry... Scotty got rid of him before the Cup runs. If I remember correctly, Yzerman wasn't too happy at the time. He was quoted as saying something to the effect of: "All he did was play great defense for us." Of course, this was before the team bought 100% into Scotty's defensive scheme and two-way play... so... plus Yzerman was a little disgusted at the time. He was fresh off the trading block himself. He almost went to Ottawa for Alexi Yashin. Lmao. Thank God someone (JimmyD, Ilitch?) pulled the plug on the trade. Anyway, Carkner was a solid stay-at-home defensemen. I liked him. Great shot blocker IIRC.

Uhhh... huh? Terrible, terrible idea. You think big, mobile, puck moving defensemen grow on trees? Besides... we already had Carkner in the mid 90's and he was average at best.

Comparing what happened between Dino and Richardson is just stupid. Neither were in a Red Wing jersey at the time. Why even bring that up? Not to mention that Dino caught WAY more abuse on a nightly basis then anyone else you have brought up. Less surprising that he would snap. Fine. Keep it on the ice. So why take it off the ice now? Wasn't one of the major knocks on Howard when he was in GR was that he would become complacent? Maybe management feels he's showing signs of that.

Which is probably why he's coming here looking for pointers on how to learn. I'm just not sure where pointing out the obvious is helpful here. Obviously he knows he's gonna suck at first. @nate Don't listen to this guy. Just play one shift at a time. After a while of sucking bad, you'll do something good. Then it's pretty much all good from there, but you'll still probably suck pretty bad for a while. Eventually, you'll catch one of these 'leaguers' being lazy and you'll make them look stupid. It's only a matter of time and effort.

You're making skating out to be A LOT harder than it really is. I'm sure he's not planning on competing for a spot on Team USA. It's no different than anything else, with enough practice and dedication and smarts, you can be a solid hockey player no matter what your age. And "missed the boat" on what exactly? Playing hockey and having fun?

I'm sure he's well aware that a bottom feeder will be interested. Question is, can he turn down all other offers?

Learn with a stick in your hand. It will encourage you to lean forward and it will also add balance... and it could save you last ditch from a nasty fall. Good luck and have fun. The only way to get better is to keep doing it. Sometimes if I haven't skated in a while, I'll put my inline skates on in the house. Just to get the feel of having skates on and keep my feet tough.

Crawford is a good young goalie and Turco has a NTC. I don't see what they would gain.

You took that WAY out of context. I actually despise Chelios more than Claude overall. And I despised him more in the Winged Wheel. But I would be a lot quicker to give Chelios some respect. At least he gave back to the community and to the organization. Claude is just here to sponge twenties.

I agree. All I'm saying is that Claude's conduct on and off the ice and his indifference towards Draper during that whole thing makes him pretty much impossible to respect. For me. He doesn't deserve any respect from a single person involved with the Wings, fan or otherwise, imo. I'll never give that clown a dime.

Um... no. Hockey players are human too. And some of them are ******* pieces of s***. I'll respect Chelios before I respect Claude. Respect him all you want, but he doesn't respect you... he just wants your money.
