I don't think that's the case at all. If you watch him close, he is starting to find his areas and he's beginning to pass to areas on the ice with more precision. Which shows that's he's starting to find good chemistry with his teammates. Wouldn't be surprised if he is just beginning to take flight. Plus he was really quick to get involved in a scrum the other night. I like seeing that too.

Rafalski looks great.

Still miss Dino.

Hehe. Right. I just hang till I get tired of it then backstroke back here. I actually go over there out of curiosity more than anything. They all act so shocked that their team isn't playing well. How could they not see it coming?

I don't post. Just gloat.

Went over to HF boards to collect s***hawk fan tears. The pitchforks are out in force.

Besides the point. Completely.

Rushing Smith into the NHL when he isn't needed is totally an "enjoy the moment" move. You are contradicting yourself. Are you implying that Smith should leapfrog over Kindl in the depth chart? Because breaking his confidence in order to rush another player into the lineup is about the stupidest thing you can do as a GM.

So basically, the two things that set the Wings apart from almost every other team in the NHL, patient development and loyalty, are completely lost on you. Yet you celebrate the Cups. Hmmmmm.
-
For the Wings, it's all about sharpening fundamentals to the point of near perfection. That's the goal. Not saying it always takes. Why do you think young players seem to slide into the lineup so seamlessly? Are you really questioning the system at this point? Really? Lol.

Should we risk our future for an elite defenseman?

This. I think we'll see a couple lean and scary years on D until some guys develop. It seems like management plans to lean on Jimmy for a couple seasons until our prospects catch up. I can't see Kenny going crazy trying to find a UFA replacement for Lidstrom. That's a recipe to get hosed. Of course, with Kenny, you can never rule out the impossible. On a sidenote... Kindl's game needs a lot of work, obviously, but based on what little I've seen at the NHL level, he has a good head and good vision. I can see him being a big part of the 'committee' to replace Lidstrom. -

Lol Weber would be my top pick for sure. Be great if we can find a way to lure him over. -
Jesus, Santa and Osgood... all eating from the same trough. Interesting. Screw the HOF, you can't find better company than that.

Hardly. Shanny would be kick ass to sign at the trade deadline for league minimum... but commissioner of the NHL? Surely you jest. The owners would burn him alive and piss on the ashes. Do you really want that to happen to Shanny?

I'm reminded of The Who. Meet the new boss... same as the old boss. Call me a pessimist but I won't be excited until A) It happens B) I see who the new replacement will be.
-
I'm not a basher. I actually have a lot of respect for Osgood and appreciate his time here. But he has worn on my nerves bad the past couple seasons. I'll be glad to see him gone.

Zzzzzz... Zzzzzz... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Good win tonight. Like seeing Salei and Modano get more comfortable. They are looking better and better. Still meh on Hudler. I'm gonna give him more time before I start whining about him. I think he is just having a hard time finding his identity on this team.

Coincidentally, Jimmy D summed it up in a quote back in the day when Primeau was traded. He said something to the effect of: "He wanted to be a big fish in a little pond" At the time, he was being traded to Hartford.

I can. I can easily imagine a Cup for every year of Borque's contract. But, to be honest, it kinda sickened me to see him win a Cup with the Avs after all those years in Boston. He was a great player but I kinda hold the Cup chasing against him a little for some reason. I feel like he shoulda stayed loyal to Boston... or came here.
-
Right... Lidstrom doesn't always pair well with other veterans, but he easily has the ability to make inexperienced/lesser talented partners look better. He's kinda like the Gretzky of defense in that regard, imo. Glad to see Raffi back. My heart rate will be better served with him making break out and outlet passes.

Heh. Enjoy your squeaker against Atlanta. Have fun watching Turco lay on his back like a helpless turtle for an entire season. Look at the bright side, you probably won't have to endure Turco in the playoffs. See? There's always a silver lining.
-
I've been catching glimpses of the game here and there. Turco looks awful. Shocker I know. That Morin kid looks pretty good. Too bad they have to rush him out.
-
Sounds like one of Chicago's prospects got dinged up good in his NHL debut. Morin hurt slightly in the second and now more severely in the third. Is it wrong to gloat?
-
He's gonna take what appear to be dumb penalties because he is a little long in the tooth and is going to get caught out of position from time to time. His salary reflects this and I still like him better than Lilja at this point.
