No way would I want Joey in net as our starter, but with Jimmy back, I wouldn't be surprised if Joey looked better than Osgood right now. We all keep waiting for Osgood to 'flip the switch', but if he never does, Joey isn't a bad option for a backup. That'll put more pressure on both him and Jimmy though, so it's really hard to say.

Lol... why is he an idiot? I'd bet money that McDonald's form is better than Osgood's right now. Seriously, have you been watching Osgood? His positioning is horrible. He swims once a game. His reaction seems about half a tick off. I don't see how McDonald could be any worse at this point.

Wow... what a coincidence...
-
Lol. I hope Ritola does well but lets not go crazy.
-
Ritola scored a goal. Fire Kenny. I heard Knuble scored a couple goals since the Wings released him. Another epic failure and stain on this organization.

So does anyone else hope Lidstrom comes back next season?
Broken 16 replied to Reilly's topic in General
Lidstrom could play with a walker instead of a stick and I'd still like our chances. -
Lol... I see the rational, clear thinking mindfly is pushed back deep inside. Hello other mindfly. You do realize that we are 2 points short of first overall in the league with 4 games in hand on Chicago and two games in hand on everybody else.

Don't look now but the Wings are winning a lot of games. A lot of different ways. A very good sign.

Electrophile started it.

You can't be serious. I've been observing butterflies since the early 90's and the Zebra Swallowtail is obviously more beautiful.
-
Not the butterfly debate again...

I tend to agree. Ozzie is looking better. He's more aggressive and seems to be a little more in control. His positioning still stinks but hopefully that'll come around too. I can still dream.
-
I know, but you just gotta wonder when enough is enough. We all (well not all of us) expect Osgood to find form again but this has been goin on for a LONG time now. Osgood as a backup seems to be an issue in the early going here. I'm still praying he finds former form, I'm just becoming increasingly pessimistic about the notion. And I hate it.
-
His positioning is still awful Doc. I'm not an Ozzie basher... but seriously. You can't NOT notice how awful it's been. Even though pucks were hitting him more in the second and third, he really never made adjustments to fix his positioning.
-
Osgood looks terrible. He's looked terrible for too long now. It's moved way beyond anything that could be considered a slump. Most nights, it's literally painful just to watch his positioning. He leaves massive gaps everywhere. 08 was 08. Those days are gone. Ozzie sucks now. It's painful to say, but I have ZERO faith in him.
-
Seriously. Pyatt looked like he suddenly went blind. Hilarious.
-
I'll take -3.

The main problem with the third line is that it isn't getting any sustained pressure. They are getting decent chances every now and then but it is usually one and done with maybe a quick swipe at a rebound. That's a chemistry issue imo. It might never fix itself.
-
Don't ignore everything he says. Sometimes he presents some pretty compelling analysis and some interesting stats. You just have to unskew them a little.
-
You can't just ignore a horrible third line just because you are winning.

First person I'd sit would be Hudler. Only because he has less of an excuse for sucking than Modano. Hudler knows the system way better. Plus, him and Cleary should be able to put something together, at least. Cleary has been the brightest spot on that line.
-
Lol... Eva must have went into major damage control mode as soon as he saw the thread title. Gotta try and keep the gnats off Hudler. Sorry eva, but Hudler is almost as bad as Modano but worse than Cleary on that line.
-
Agreed. I'm curious to see how Modano responds to this. Imagine how pissed Willa will be if he gets benched.

Yes. It's very cool. Very few fans in all of professional sports have the luxury of maintaining an "oh well, we'll get em next year!" mentality regarding the Stanley Cup year after year. It's quite a gift. Which brings us to the reason for all the blind hatred and why I like to bask in it.
