I don't understand how a team can be fined draft picks for something when there was no precedence. So is this gonna be the standard punishment for someone trying to circumvent the cap? I can see charging them a bunch of money to recoup legal expenses etc. But draft picks too? I find it kinda ridiculous.

It's readable... you just gotta bounce around a bunch to do it.

I'm thinking that being the captain of an NHL team is a much bigger deal than you are giving it credit for. As a professional, I'm pretty positive that he took that role very seriously. One less thing for him to think about. Goaltending is a lot of mental prep. Now he can focus on goaltending and goaltending alone. Great move by him. Now he doesn't have to worry so much about being a leader and an example. He can just play goal. s***... even being captain on one of my cheesy rec leagues was a major hassle.

If things are going well, I predict Bert. Just because he is what he is and anybody (including myself) that expects Bert to start not taking bad penalties and start playing with two hands on the stick is going to be disappointed in him to a degree. He's the easiest target. If things are going badly, Howard. Let's face it... if the Wings are struggling, there is a hefty contingent just waiting to gloat and point the finger at Howard. Cleary is my dark horse. If he isn't playing well and the Wings are losing, the dog pile will be enormous.

Right but saying $75,000 buys some happiness is no different than saying buying a Snickers buys some happiness imo. The point he was trying to make is that money can't solve a majority of problems. Financial problems, sure. But that's only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the potential problems one can and will face in a lifetime. His point is valid. His delivery sucked.

If you are earning over 1 million dollars a year for four years, you are rich. Not wealthy, but rich. If after that four years, you are broke and have to worry about money... you are dumb. I do agree with his sentiment that money doesn't buy happiness. He's spot on there.

I like Lilja and all, but I don't feel sorry for him one bit. He made his bed. It's his own fault for not realizing that salaries are going to be affected in the NuNHL. I don't even play and I knew that players were gonna have to settle for less to be on a contending team. Especially a player like Lilja. He's a fool imo.
