Bertuzzi states he will either stay with wings or retire
Broken 16 replied to Lidstrom for life's topic in General
That would be nice, but I can't see how anybody could justify paying Bert 800K less than Homer. -
Another completely uninformative post game interview from an NHL player. They could just use the same interview forever and change the names. None of us would ever know any different. "So what's going on?" "We have to play better." /interview

Leino just got rocked. It brought back memories seeing him on one knee catching his breath.
-
I'd root for a hat trick if we could still get some curly fries out of it...
-
I agree. Everyone likes to shoehorn Cleary into the second line because of his salary. I think he should start on the third line this season. Injury or not, I don't feel like he deserves to be handed a second line spot based on last season. Cleary is much better when he has something to work towards.

Nice story. Way to go MacLean!
-
The tag-up rule really isn't a change. It was was brought back because the change to auto-offsides was actually slowing the game down. Tag-up offsides is an old rule. /nitpick

Nice. And right at the beginning... at the 8 second mark, there is evidence of grit beyond grit. A double snot rocket. Seriously, how could he be any grittier?
-
Lol... I played them at the same time. They compliment each other.
-
I couldn't think of any other way to word it. But the guy is very, very gritty. More so than Eager, by a mile.
-
What do you think grit is? When a player is constantly tieing up and lifting sticks over and over on a back-check... that's gritty.
-
Sorry. You are clueless. Datsyuk is the very definition of gritty. Tenacious back-checker, tenacious stick lifter, able to knock the biggest bodies in the NHL on their cans to get the puck, routinely goes into the corners against 2-3 defenders and gets the puck, will throw punches if necessary, has lead in the 'hits' column in many, many important games. The guy IS grit and would knock Ben Eager on his ass without blinking... oh, and take the puck and score. Seriously. Get a clue. Eager is just a plugger that gets a bone once in a while. The only way he can stay in the league is by running around like a chicken with his head cut off hoping for a break.
-
Please, no Ben Eager. We already have too may Ben Eagers.
-
I'm actually rooting for Leino. It's crazy. I'd actually get a certain amount of satisfaction if Leino managed to stick it to the Blackhawks. In fact, it would be awesome. I'm still holding out judgment until next season, but yea, Leino has looked pretty good in a Flyers uniform.

I just happen to think that Lidstrom had a great chance to go out as one of the great captains in Red Wing history. But if he approaches his career off the ice the same way he approaches it on the ice, I'd expect nothing less than for him to put himself in the most enviable position possible.

With Yzerman in Tampa, would he trade with Detroit?
Broken 16 replied to Red Storm's topic in General
It implies that a deal is possible. Just kinda misleading. I would think that any blockbuster trade between the Wings and the Lightning would be looked at very closely by the league. Then again, I don't know the league by-laws or whatever very well, so I could be talking out of my arse. -
Claude Lemeiux... oh, I don't know... for pile driving Drapers face into the dasher and then leaving it to his team to handle his business. For starters. Corey Perry... seriously, you can't even dispute this. I could go on...

Worst thread title ever. -
Thank god I'm not doing a shot every time Messier says the word "tremendous". I'd be completely wasted.
-
Agitates a team and a fan base just by taking a puck. The man is a genius.
-
I'd have to say Asham too. He'd be a nice fit.
-
Exactly... and I love how everyone piles on Crosby (oh god... now I did it) and Malkin and others for getting their 'fair market value' because it handcuffs their team... but with Lids it's ok. Lots of hypocrites around here.
-
This board will become so polarized next season if Lidstrom isn't putting up points. It'll be worse than any Osgood or Toughness debate.
-
Don't bother continuing... your analogy sucks. You don't win the greatest trophy known to man by working on an assembly line. 6.whatever Meh... glad he's back but I was hoping for a little more wiggle room for a free agent. I hope his slapshot that was largely missing from last season returns for that kind of money.
-
No one said anything about being a team player either. It's fairly simple at this point. 6.5-7+= More concerned about money than Cup= me kinda disappointed in him 6-6.4= Still kinda concerned about money= meh... whatever 5.9 and less= Wants a Cup badly= me happier than a pig in s*** If he lands somewhere in the mid 5 range, that will put him right amidst the rest of the core players on the team, who all also happen to be in their prime. I don't think Lidstrom making 5.5 on this roster is as much of a paycut as some of you would like everyone to believe.
