WCSF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Sharks 2 (OT)
Broken 16 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
When you have to resort to factoring in which teams play in which division during the regular season in order to prove your team is better... it isn't. -
So wait... I'm not allowed to pick on trolls?
-
What guns? Kesler? Ok. The Sedin's are pea shooters. Nashville nearly upset one of best offensive teams in recent history last playoffs. Don't be surprised if the Sedin's do next to nada.

Happens every game for every team. Tons of missed and blown calls. They are not special in that regard by any stretch. Do you have any idea how many times a night Datsyuk gets dragged down with no call? Canucks need to stop blaming the refs... and the flu... and whatever else they can come up with and just win the game. Holmstrom gets brutally mauled every game and Canuck fans are gonna cite a broken stick and a punch in the face as missed calls? LMAO!
-
Preds because I don't like the Sharks offense(ive potential) or their time zone.
-
It can happen... they just have to win game 7. Otherwise the cap is bulls***.
-
Tell ya one thing, if this is a result of league parity, then I'm loving the salary cap right about now.
-
So why even have powerplays if the refs are expected to even them up? How about stop diving and gooning first. What a joke that franchise is. Holland coulda took the podium a hundred times in the past 15 years to ***** about the officiating. Glad he actually has some class.
-
Why does he deserve a spot? Because he is Mike Modano? He deserves to get his chance to show that he deserves a spot over someone else when the Wings are healthy and he hasn't really done that imo. Given a choice between him and Eaves and/or Miller. I take the two latter right now. I definitely wouldn't sit Draper for him. Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing Hudler ride the pine for a couple games to give Mo a legitimate shot.
-
He looked way better than I expected him to look. He even threw a couple hits. Way to go Mo!
-
They go all the way. And anyone who says they won't is too realistic for my liking.
-
Ya. I agree. I don't see 30 goals, but I can see him piling up a ton of assists just from hard work and digging.
-
Hmmmmmm... yes. I guess I just hate when eva does it. I didn't mean to sound so harsh. Sorry. But you do have a tendency to extrapolate small stat samples into huge proclamations.
-
No offense, eva, but spare me your stats. I hate the way you manipulate them and I don't have the time or the inclination to pick em apart. I never understood how someone can sit in front of a computer screen and assess the entire future of an NHL player.

What was the question?

Honestly, I see a lot more upside in Helm. The only reason he hasn't matched Kesler is because of the development the Red Wings employ. If his hands continue to improve and his speed remains top notch, I see no ceiling to the goals that kid can score. He's already exceeded pretty much everyones expectations with no signs of slowing down. Then again, I'm not one to put ceilings on potential. Success and trophys are a result of hard work first, then talent. Helm has the hard work down pat and with examples like Datsyuk and Zetterberg and Lidstrom, etc, etc... in the locker room everyday, he could be ridiculously good. With his speed, all he needs is a few killer dekes and he'll score a lot of breakaway goals imo. You can practice dekes.
-
This should be interesting. 90% of this forum thought Helm would never be much more than a Draper 2.0 six months ago.
-
Not really though... nobody really expected much from Mo.

I assume a bunch of you guys are on Facebook. Well, there is a really cool app. It's called Dynasty Hockey. I highly recommend it. They use players from all eras of hockey and I've even seen some CSKA Moscow players (drafted Valeri Kharmalov). The only reason I bring it here is because there is an enforcer debate on the message board and I thought of this place. Lol... anyway, it's a fun game. (BTW... Probie is my enforcer)
-
I was thinking the same thing. Sometimes he just lays on the ice. That cut is nasty though.
-
Milbury calling for octopi. I hate when he makes me like him...
-
I don't know about floating being part of a "scoring line player's" game, but it sure seems to be a big part of Modano's game. And it doesn't work well on the third line.
-
An award voted on by peers is better than any award voted on by the retarded media. I guarantee you that award means more to him than any Selke.
-
Agreed. I'm trying to give Mo the benefit of the doubt a little, but I don't think he will ever be able to bring what this team expects from the bottom 6. It's all about hustle, and determination and hitting and being defensively aware and cycling and grinding. If the bottom 6 was about floating around looking for a scoring chance, Mo would be my first choice.
