Steve Yzerman named TB's new GM

I really can't understand why anybody would be sad to see him go. It would be more sad to see him rot in Kenny's shadow for the next X amount of years. Good luck Steve.

    History Will be Made

"What if Leino didn't have drive?" Lol... that's an easy one to answer. He'll get sent out of town on a rail. We know... we saw it. Lmao! *Queue the Finnish turds and the neg button*

    LOL at the Sharks

Part of me wants Chicago to win just so we don't have to keep hearing about your dad every other post... nah, GO FLYERS!
  4. Broken 16

Why would anyone want MTL to win.

Yes... but imagine the satisfaction of witnessing the fans make complete asses of themselves on a national level.

    If you were Brian Burke

Oh, I'm not saying the Leafs are screwed or that they should dump Jiggy any time soon. I'm just speaking in general. I think the way of paying huge goalie salaries is slowly going out the window in the NHL. The Wings have proven that you can win without a 5 mil goalie two seasons ago... and everyone left is proving it this year. That's kinda how I'm seeing it anyway.

If Wings faced Hawks in 3rd Round

    I'll buy that...

    If you were Brian Burke

Right... how many top tier goalies are left in the playoffs? Wasting a ton of money on a goaltender is becoming more and more a suicide mission as parity sets in. How is Huet's, Luongo's and Fluery's salary looking right about now?
  8. Broken 16

Why would anyone want MTL to win.

If it means that Chicago doesn't win, then I want Montreal by all means... or Philly. Today anyway, my opinion could change tomorrow.

    The Curse of Marian Hossa

That was a different era. Apples and oranges. What round was Gordie Howe drafted in?
  10. Broken 16

If Wings faced Hawks in 3rd Round

Ya, but the games I was watching, the Blackhawks won a majority of the crucial offensive and defensive zone faceoffs. Those are the ones that will kill you quick.

    A little conspiracy in Montreal?

    lol

    The Curse of Marian Hossa

Honestly... I think the pressure is getting to him. I remember seeing him against us in the Finals and thinking he was the best player on the ice. I've always liked him. And I was beyond happy when he signed here. I'm really starting to think that this whole playoff thing is just a monkey on his back. I mean, think about it, he's averaging around .75 ppg in the playoffs for his career (not bad). We all know that he has strong two-way skills. I'm almost starting to think that he is just gripping the stick a little too tightly in the playoffs since he left the Penguins. Maybe his psyche is out of wack?

    The Curse of Marian Hossa

Actually, you made a sarcastic comment to my sarcastic post... since we are splitting hairs and I have a few minutes. And since we are going to delve into the past, I'm glad we took Franzen over Hossa. But not because of any silly curse.

    The Curse of Marian Hossa

Slow down Doc... If I didn't know any better, I might think that you think that I think that the Hossa curse is real. I know you love to argue over anything, but I'm not really game on this one. I'll be sure to add sarcasm tags in the future to make it less confusing for you.

    The Curse of Marian Hossa

    Why?

If Wings faced Hawks in 3rd Round

Depends of face-off proficiency. Wings need to either work on face-offs big time... or learn to cheat better. That's the most glaring thing to me.
  17. Rest is overrated in the playoffs, imo. Especially for the Hawks, who aren't really nursing anything major. I hope Montreal wins to extend the series just so the Hawks can sit around and read about how awesome they are. Doesn't matter what you mean... still a huge oxymoron. Crazy enough, I think the Flyers (or Montreal) will actually have the advantage in this series. They've both had to weather insane offensive teams to get this far (Montreal moreso) and both teams play a stifling defensive system and block a lot of shots. They both clog the game up. This could easily be another Detroit/New Jersey Finals. Whoever comes out of the East will still have their legs and could easily split in Chicago. If that happens, anything can happen. I think either team coming out of the East will give Chicago fits. Especially the Flyers.

If Wings faced Hawks in 3rd Round

This. Faceoffs killed us more than anything and Chicago is better at faceoffs than San Jose. I'm glad we lost to San Jose too, because it leaves that little shadow of doubt in the Hawks as far as them beating us. But I think we would have gotten schooled.
  19. I was responding to that... The West was equally stronger than the East last season. The East won the Cup. I flip-flop daily on who I want to win. Just the other day I was saying that I want the Hawks to win. Today, I don't. Go Pronger. By the way... "Easy Stanley Cup Championship" may be the biggest oxymoron I have ever read.

    The Curse of Marian Hossa

The only curse attached to Hossa is the curse of him not scoring goals when his team makes the playoffs.
  21. Broken 16

    A little conspiracy in Montreal?

Liquid Heat in the jock straps would be way more effective.
  22. Right... And the Sharks were weaker than the Wings... and Montreal had no chance against the high powered Capitals in a 7 game series... and Pittsburgh was gonna ballerina dance into the SCF's... and Vancouver was the 'Team to Beat' for a while... and Chicago can't get deep with Huet/Neimi/Cambell... oh yea, 'The Hossa Curse'... and Leino sucks... I like the Flyers' chances. A lot.

    Tomas Kopecky

So many 'ifs' with you. You tend to spout off statements as if they are facts but there are so many 'ifs' attached, they are fiction. Try dumping 75% of your 'ifs' and then we'll see how your 'facts' hold up. I could, very very easily, point to a time in every players career when they weren't producing, extrapolate it and make an argument for why they should never make more than the league minimum.
  24. All the people saying that it's impossible for the East to win the Cup are probably the same people that were mad at Washington for getting eliminated in the first round because the Penguins would have a cake walk to the SCF's. Heh. Philly can beat Chicago.
  25. Broken 16

Who do you cheer for now?

I changed my mind. Go Hawks. I don't want to see the East win two in a row. Plus I wouldn't mind seeing Hossa win a Cup. Even though he is basically choking worse this year than he was last year. I'm just sick of him, to be honest. Let him get his Cup so everyone can stop the 'Hossa Curse' nonsense.
