As it stand right now, it's changing from period to period and there are glaring missed/bad/non calls that are occurring with too much frequency from the greatest hockey league in the world. Good calls, bad calls, bulls*** calls. Whatever. As long as it is consistent. And it isn't even close.

Nice essay but if you've truly been watching hockey as long as you imply, you would know that the on-ice quality of NHL refereeing has been steadily nosediving for years. And it actually got worse when they added another.

The lack of professionalism amongst NHL referees disgusts me almost every game. They are a joke. That's all I'm gonna say.

After much deliberation Zetterberg. I just think he was one of the rocks this season (HM, Lidstrom). Had a very impressive but under the radar regular season and picked up the slack where he needed to. Maybe to a fault.

Agree with eva. I just don't see Modano's game elevating much. He might look ok out there right now but he's doing little more than floating around hoping to get off a one time wrister. Not impressive so far.

I realize all that. I'm still holding out hope. I was kinda pro re-signing him up until he came back. And then Mickey implied that he exaggerated his groin tweak just to get out of the brutal practice he helped earn. That seems pretty cheesy if true, 40 years old or not.

I've never heard anyone suggest that fighting has no place in the game. Just that it isn't a priority in the Wings system. Which it isn't.
