I don't hate Hossa though... aside from the fact that he's a Blackhawk for life.

That's the great thing about hate... it doesn't have to be rational.

Not to mention we already have Janik. Not that there is redundancy between Janik and Schnieder, but aside from not having a clear heir apparent to Lidstrom, I like our defense just the way it is.

Hate is such a strong word. The only player that comes close to getting hatred from me is Kane. Just because he is such a weasel. But in the spirit of the thread I'll say that I hate: Tootoo Niedermayer (even more with the grey beard) Perry Malkin (strong Dbag factor) Leino

Because there needs to be two passes made to help ensure that Ville has the least possible amount of coverage. 1) Player 1 goes into the corner to get the puck that will eventually make it's way to Ville's golden hockey stick 2) Player 1 passes the puck to Player 2, who is hopefully double covered, who then finds a sneaky, uncovered Ville hiding somewhere 3) Player 2 does everything in his power to draw every defender and shovel the puck to an uncovered Leino 4) Leino, uncovered, scores a goal Problem solved. Wings get a goal and Ville doesn't have to actually work for it.

Leino needs someone to set him up. He also needs someone to dig it out of the corners, so they can pass it to someone that can set him up. Plus he needs a couple people to police his immediate area so nobody lifts his stick or pushes him right as he's about to shoot. The Wings aren't giving him the proper environment. It's their fault.

I know. It's killing me. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would be making a post like that about Nik. Now I'm just waiting for the moon to turn red and for locusts to start devouring the earth...

I don't agree with what seems to be the prevailing sentiment around here that Lidstrom deserves ANOTHER big payday for past accomplishments. He's already been paid for that. And paid EXTREMELY well, I might add. If this season is a snap-shot of what we can expect from him in the near future... I hope he retires.

So all the Red Wing scouts, Kenny, Stevie, the entire GR coaching staff, the entire Red Wings coaching staff, Ken and Mickey, Gary Thorne and Bill Clement on my NHL10 game... EVERYBODY... has overlooked Helm's offensive dominance except you. He's been given his chances with good line mates. He may develop great hands someday. Just not yet.

It's not the 'not scoring' part that troubles me. It's the 'not hitting the net' part. And it's not like he's barely missing either. Most shots, the organ player is running for cover.

As expected. Yes he has the tools. We all know this. He doesn't show the desire. You rarely see him make that last lunge to lift the stick on a backcheck. He's content to pass off or dump the puck in one on one situations. He more or less throws his body into 2 and 3 on 1 situations and almost always ends up coughing the puck up. He's awful right now. I would much rather have what Newberry brings. Even the penalties.

Fixed I thought he did fine. Did a good job on draws.

The sad part is, it's true. He's playing incredibly lazy hockey right now. Or he is so far out of position that he looks lazy. Either way... lazy. I've seen him give up on so many plays and on so many backchecks that I can't believe Babcock is still icing him.

How is Leino in the lineup better than Newberry in the lineup? I don't get it. Newberry may not be stellar, but he brings a lot more than Leino. Surely a number cruncher out there can come up with a stat that justifies Leino over Newberry... but I just don't see it.
