I'd give Leino another shot with Flip before I'd send him out on a rail.

We need wins. For whatever reason, the team plays better when Howard is in net. More defensively sound. That's the goal for the team right now. Babcock brings Ozzy in for the big games because Ozzy is a big game goalie (when he feels like it). Howard does the lightwork and forces the team to be more cohesive defensively. I like it just the way it is until around All-Star time.

I know what you're talking about and I agree. But I'm talking about deflected shots and broken plays that the defensemen are bobbling and having a hard time with. He'll push people out of the way to get to a loose puck. I like that.

Plus it's gonna be cold as hell. Greektown is your best bet for good, mainstream entertainment. As someone mentioned, check out the Metro Times for activities and shows. If you and your girl are REALLY brave... there might be a good band playing at Harpo's.

The thing that strikes me most about Howard is his desire to battle for loose pucks.

Requirements for next Russian player: 1) Natural scorer 2) Defensively sound 3) Gritty and tough 4) Wife gets along with Pavel's wife.

Second season in a row that Osgood has been mediocre or worse. The Wings can't afford to wait around for him to decide to play. Howard is showing better results right now. That's all that should matter.

The rule puts too much power in the refs hands imo.

I do understand it. That's how I know it's bad. I thought you wrote at one point that you played hockey. If so you should understand how exhaustion can creep up on somebody and force them to not only start reaching, which opens them up to injury, but to also react slower... like when reacting to a hit.

Ok... So lets just ignore the fact that the Wings now have to deal with a salary cap. It's easy to "reload" when you don't have to worry about a cap. I'm not saying that I think they should tank. And nobody said anything about sticking their tail between their legs except you. The V. P. himself gets on the radio and basically begs you to lower expectations for a season and you still refuse. Like I said... machines.

What's ridiculous are fans that think that the players on the team they root for are machines that exist for nothing more than to win games for them. They are human and they are playing a game that knocks your dick in the dirt in one period. They do it for camp, pre-season, an 82 game regular season and the most brutal playoffs in all of sports. The Wings have been on top for over a decade... played more hockey than anyone else... have WON more than anyone else and all you can do is suggest that they have no emotion. Some fan. With the cap space we will have next year, Kenny will be able to basically push the reset button and compliment the core again. Perfect time to give the core a rest if that is what is in the cards. On one hand... sure, I'll be disappointed if they don't make it. Then about 30 seconds later I'll be relieved that our core will be 100% ready to go physically and emotionally with cap space. I'd rather not see the walking wounded heading into the playoffs... again. I've enjoyed 15 years of dominant Wings hockey. One season of mediocrity won't kill me.

Doesn't matter. At the time he said to lower expectations. Now he might just say forget the whole thing till next season. Let's hope Jimmy doesn't speak to the press anymore this season.

You don't deserve to win when your shot selection is atrocious and the quality chances you DO get glide over the top of the net. The Wings deserved to lose tonight. Powerplay is ridiculously bad for all the 'so called' talent.

That might be going a little far. I honestly believe the core needs rest. Best thing to happen to this team would be for them to miss the playoffs and get the core good and rested for next season... when we have cap space to build around a rested core. That's my hope. Flame away LGW'ers.
