I honestly don't think that teams will be going after Datsyuk any more now than they were before. It's not like all the sudden other teams are realizing that Datsyuk is dominant. Teams have been going after him for years already. He's good. That's why they rarely get him. I mean, this is like saying that teams just started to realize that Gretzky was dominant when he joined the Kings. Players know who the great players are long before we do. And great players are historically very hard hit. Datsyuk being amazing and a huge part of the Wings success isn't news that has just surfaced...

The way Ken and Mickey were talking, it almost sounded like the league would be kissing the Wings asses like they do Pitt and Chi but the Wings want no part of it. Or something like that...

I remember what the OP is talking about. There was mention of some kind of agreement the Wings have with the NHL regarding weekend games and such. Can't for the life of me remember what it was but it had something to do with the networks wanting to cover the Wings games more often.

I believe... I believe that a loss from a team who has locked up a playoff spot basically months ago to a bottom feeder that won't make the playoffs means NOTHING once the playoffs start. Go Wings!

I like when fans predict playoff failure like they are being all prophetic. It's the playoffs. It's hard. Great teams fail. Predicting playoff failure is definitely the way to go if you wanna play the 'I told you so' card someday.

Do you have an actual opinion on the the topic or are you here just to police the conversation? Clean hit imo, looked way worse than it was because, like someone else pointed out, he looked confused while he was down on the ice. Looked like he could have been knocked silly a little. I can see why the refs maybe misread the situation. On Kronner... seems like he's been told to back off on the hits a little this season by management. He's playing well enough positionally this season that he could have had a bunch of big ones by now. I think he's been told to play it safe. Of course, I can't back that up.

I'm gonna be the anti-you... I hope he asks for more money. Staunch Lidstrom slappys will love that idea.

How is it absurd to hope when the outcome is unknown? He could very well ask for less than you think he deserves 'just because'. The only thing bordering absurd is your willingness to squash hope. You hope squasher. Don't you have enough power on this board? Now you wanna police hope too?

Exactly. Guys like Cleary, Z and Bert actually score better in coverage it seems. Especially Z. That's what makes him so great in the playoffs imo.

Not really (I mean sorta, but not really). Hudler's skill set lends to better shootout results. Kinda like Jason Williams. Obviously sucks, but was good at shootouts.

Haven't read the thread, but it seems like a lot of you guys assume that each coach is a completely seperate entity in charge of their little realms with no interference from outside sources. It doesn't work like that. Babcock is ultimately responsible. You want to blame a coach, blame Babcock. I do. It's his responsibility to keep this team up and get his message through. He'll find a way. A lot of you are giving McCrimmon credit for a lot more power than he actually has. Lol... if only building hockey teams were that easy. A lot has changed besides just McCrimmon. Like I said, you guys are giving him WAY too much credit for the amount of power he actually possesses.
