It is a big deal. I'm very proud of the teams I've run and coached in the past. And I never said you were wearing a prom dress. Reading comp. is tech on message boards. You act like the Wings being favored to win the Cup is some new development. Lol. I'm sorry, but the people saying that they are bored watching the Wings and are watching other teams just sound like spoiled, entitled brats. Jmo.

Two teams that have an elite goaltender. Think about it. The team is slumping, obviously, and they faced two great goaltenders. Lol... one of the top teams in the top conference. Ok. Really? Riding the top 3 spot in the conference all season is somehow just as frustrating being on the bubble all season? This just keeps getting better. Teams in the NHL lose. Sometimes <gasp>, they lose two in a row. You sound like a Chicago fan.

Not sure what you mean with that first line, but you can't tell me the loss of any of those guys listed made a significant difference on this team. You guys wanna hold on to and cite Drake as our last savior and it's pretty hilarious. You guys act like there are so many tough guys that would fit our system out there. I bet that 90% of these so-called 'bottom six team savers' would be thrown under the bus on this forum 10 days into their new contract.

NOT gonna get into a toughness debate with you... but McCarty was next to useless on his last stint. Lilja is wrecked. May as well not bring him up again because the player you are referencing is gone forever. The new, stripped down version of Lilja is on the Ducks. Downey... lol, Downey. Oddly beloved by some, nice guy apparently... waste of a roster spot come playoff time. Drake... was good... was NOT instrumental. That team would have won with <insert any rugged bottom six player here>. But I do agree with the notion that seeing some fights and ugliness would have made tonights game mildly more interesting.

Ya. I hate going to this well too often because one of these years, they really are gonna suck, but we've got a great mix of seasoned veterans and hungry youth. Datsyuk is out. Stuart is out. Flip is still nursing a little I'm sure. Same with Cleary. I think Modano is still going to have a big impact. He should be back in time to get his legs and he was showing signs of nice chemistry before going down. By biggest concern is goaltending. Looks like we are just gonna have to hope and pray that Jimmy gets hot at the right time.

I'm not getting this attitude from some people that this team needs some kind of major roster shake-up. This is pretty much the same roster that just saw a Championship, a SCF's appearance and overcame huge adversity last season only to be pimped in the second round. Some of you need to chill. Wow.

I realize the comparison is obvious given the 5 goal game. And I also realize that Fedorov had a much deeper skill set but Franzen is reminding me of Fedorov in a LOT of other ways... 1) Stud in the playoffs 2) Sometimes I feel like he just doesn't give a s*** 3) I feel like Franzen could just turn it on at any second and take over a game if he wanted to 4) Makes impossible things look easy and almost looks bored doing it sometimes (not in a Fedorov 'freak of nature' way, but that skate to stick goal was ridiculous)

So every other time, Yzerman's word is gospel... just not this time. Lol.

It was great having all those guys on the team, but it was an honor to have Fetisov on the team and part of the Russian Five. That guy is Russian royalty for gods sake. Funny unrelated story, met Fetisov at the Westin in Toronto after he left the Wings. Devils were in town for Hockey Night.

Those two come to mind. I'm tempted to throw Vladdy into the mix of raw talent but he was more of a throwback talent, but god he was sick. Lidstrom is like Fedorov's opposite. Fedorov had raw talent that was nearly unrivaled, but a weaker will. Seemed easier to distract. Sometimes got carried away and tried to do it all by himself. Lidstrom on the other hand, seems to rely more on a superior intellect. Makes zero mistakes. Is rock steady on and off the ice and is much more of a role model type player.

Ya. I was trying more to illustrate how Franzen seems to be annoying me in the same fashion Fedorov used to back in the day. Guess I failed. Beyond the annoyance factor, there is no comparison, really.

Based on that data, I'd say that's a stretch. And wasn't Lids and Pav's day off last season for skipping the ASG count as a suspension? So there's two in the perp column for the Wings. Not a bit surprising that the Wings are +7 on that list considering that every team and their brother tries to take out the Wings and the Wings don't employ goons. I am a little surprised at the Rangers numbers though.

Nothing is a streak until it hits three imo. You lose one... you lose two in a row... next, you're on a three game losing streak. Even three barely qualifies as having any significance imo. This is really reaching for a negative... In response to the title of the thread... no importance.

Ya, but he also had another gear or two. I never considered him lazy. Granted, maybe it's unrealistic to expect him to always perform at those top gears, but he made the rest of it look so easy, you couldn't help but wonder. Fedorov could have been the Michael Jordan of hockey... as much as I hate that comparison. Besides, despite the regular season accolades he accumulated, I always viewed Fedorov as a tournament player/playoff performer. Kinda like Franzen.
