I think a very telling stat would be the PK% for each goalie. Assuming the whole "your goalie needs to be your best penalty killer" angle is true. I don't even know where to begin to figure that out... but I think it would be interesting.

Well, if you were to read a majority of the posts on this forum, you would believe that there are no bad goalies... only bad D-men. Or is that an anomaly that only exists in Detroit?

It's just a huge pet peeve of mine to hear anyone label any goalie as a "career back-up". I hate that term with a passion. Especially with regards to any goalie that isn't finished with their career yet. It's very presumptuous.

I love armchair analysts that presume to know everything about everything... they are funny. How about you ask Conklin how he feels about being a career back-up. He has all the tools to be a solid starter in the NHL. More tools than Osgood, in my opinion. Especially at this point in Osgood's career.

Still a funny as hell visual. Call me a Conklin homer but I have a lot of confidence in him for some reason. I think he's underrated and knows it. He has a lot to prove to a lot of people. If (when) Ozzy falters, I have a feeling Conklin will rise to the occasion. It's basically all he's done for the past two seasons. Ask the Pens.

It's fairly simple. He's complacent. He shows zero drive and zero passion. Granted, he's never been the most openly passionate person to start with, but he acts as if he has nothing to prove. That does not bode well for the team as a whole. It doesn't help matters that he can log on to this site and read a slew of posts propping him up and talking about past glory as if it has any bearing on the current season. All this talk about how Osgood is a starter and Conklin is a career back-up. What a joke. Osgood has always been better as a back-up (last season, anyone? Hellooooo).

Babcock, for whatever reason, seems intent on squashing a square peg into a round hole and continues to force feed us and his team a steady stream of Osgood mediocrity. Maybe he is a genius and knows something that isn't as painfully obvious as the obvious. I don't see it. I see a mediocre goalie with no drive and no passion. On the bench, I see a young goalie with better stats, more confidence and something to prove. But what do I know? I can only hope that it's some master plan to dangle a s***ty goalie out for Conference rivals to key up on, only to pull a bait and switch just before playoffs and f*** everyone up. That seems a little far fetched... no?

Agreed. The whole team is pretty much pissing me off but I refuse to hand Osgood a free pass because of it. If the goals that went in were unstoppable, then I would feel just fine laying all the blame on everyone else and propping Osgood up. Fact is, his positioning is horrible, his glove hand is more than suspect, his rebound control is nearly nonexistent and his puck handling is dicey at best. This isn't a new development. We've been seeing it all season long. This game and the Calgary game were HUGE games. Both against Conference rivals that we have a very good chance of facing in the playoffs. Inexcusable.

Osgood has played solid for the entire game maybe twice this ENTIRE SEASON. If he played solid for the "entire" game, as you claim, we wouldn't be down by a goal with 6:00 left.
