Killer hair-do.

The Wings are 7-2-1 in the last 10 games. The Sharks have a very good chance of stumbling in the last 20 games with everybody fighting tooth and nail for playoff spots. Same goes for the Bruins. It's entirely concievable that the Wings could walk away with the Presidents Trophy when the dust settles. Absolutley SICK for a defending Stanley Cup Champion to be in contention for that prize in the cap era. People like that just piss me off. So-called hockey fans that don't have a clue.

Defending Stanley Cup Champions. Every team gunning for them with everything they have every single night. 1st place in the Division... 2nd place in the Conference... 3rd place in the entire League... ... with 20'ish games left.

I don't think Conklin gets the credit he deserves for being nothing more than a solid goaltender ALL season long. Everyone likes to dismiss him as a career 'back-up goaltender'. Try asking Conklin how he feels about about being a career back-up. Goaltending is very much about desire and I have no reason to doubt he has it. Conklin has a lot to prove and I happen to think he's ready to prove. I'm on board.

A lot more factors into a HoF nomination than just points. Thats kind of the point. It's the Hall of Fame... not the Hall of Stats.
-
Dino was a very one dimensional player and you want him in the Hall of Fame. Like I said, my standards seem to be a little higher. In terms of NHL players, yes, Dino is a Tom, Dick and Harry. That's my opinion. Always has been. Even when he was a Wing. I loved how feisty he was, but that and his points aren't nearly enough to immortalize him in the HoF. Factor in the infractions that he has commited over his career and it's crystalized. Again, MY opinion. Thankfully, also the opinion of the HoF commitee as well.
-
And I just point out the obvious that neither should be in, in my opinion. I happen to set higher standards for someone being inducted into the Hall of Fame for ANY professional sport. Unlike you, obviously, who would like to hand out nominations to every Tom, Dick and Harry.
-
One has an assault on NHL ice and an indecent exposure on his record... the other is known as one of the dirtiest players to ever lace them up in the NHL. So which one should be in? Oh wait... you LIKE Dino, so he deserves to be in. Lol.
-
Well, Dino's 'assault' on Richardson actually took place during a game. I think (that was a LONG time ago... my memory is a little fuzzy on that incident). I'm pretty sure he actually spent a day or two in jail because of it. What Claude did to Draper might be something that the HoF peeps could take into account. Not sure about that one though. I would if I had a vote... I can tell you that much.
-
The only problem is, both players have done some really dumb s*** during their careers that the HoF frowns upon. Dino, arguably, was worse given the police action that took place against him.
-
Like I said, pinhead... Neither are shoe-ins. Neither deserves to be in more than the other. Not to mention, Dino has a couple brushes with the law that the HoF frowns upon. That's his problem.
-
I'm pretty sure Dino has a lot more points over his career than Claude, in the regular season. Claude's playoff numbers are better. Niether of them are shoe-ins as far as I'm concerned.
-
Would you care to rattle off the long list of accomplishments that Dino has? Aside from assaulting Richardson with his stick. Besides, I never said "strictly about playoff accomplishments"... another LGW'er putting words in someones mouth in an attempt to win a debate. Typical. Lets induct Dino because he was a net presence and made the All-Star team a few times. Stellar idea.
-
So is the LGW contingent drawing and quartering Howard yet? Or does he get a game or two?
-
Why would Dino deserve to be in the HOF before Lemieux? Because he had more garbage goals? How many Conn Smythe trophies did Dino win? Oh, thats right, he never won a Cup. Get real
-
I don't really get what you mean by this? We also snagged "The Human Pilon", Larry Murphy from the Maple Leafs (if memory serves). He turned out to be a missing piece that helped lead us to back to back Cups. As far as Andropov goes... Flip>Andropov. We gain nothing that we don't already have. Even if Hossa goes elsewhere (please God... no). Although, a salary dump might be nice.

The Biggest Problem with the Defense and Osgood
Broken 16 replied to Datsyerberger's topic in General
Osgood sucks this year. End of story. You think too much. The simplest solution is usually the best. Osgood is unfocused and/or complacent. As the old saying goes: Your best penalty killer should be your goaltender. Look at our PK... 'nuff said. -
I agree with this post. Chelios was no better than Claude, in fact, he was worse. He was dirty, a coward and said the stupidest s*** imaginable. Whats worse? A lot of his dirtiness was directed at Red Wings. I'm sure everyone has seen the TV interview here he tells the host that he would never play for Detroit because he hates them too much. Of course he said it for the sake of the Chicago fans, but he still said it... moron. Then when he publically talked about how Bettman should worry about the safety of his family. Chelios was the king of f***tards... Claude is just a prince. But now Chelios plays for the Wings and opened a Cheli's Chili, so I guess that makes him a Detroit hero. Defenders of Chelios are sheep... simple as that. Maltby is only slightly better. I hate watching him talk tough after a scrum and the refs have everybody seperated. I can't tell you how many times I've seen an opposing player forced to grab Maltby's jersey because he was trying to skate away unnoticed. He's not upper echelon f***tard like Chelios and Claude... he's just a weasel.
-
Hyperbole is a word that message board posters use when they want to sound smart. I've seen it a million times. Claude is a puss... we all have known this for years.
-
No kidding. I would put Lilja in Lebda's place, personally.

The more I poke around other teams sites and read national hockey media... the more worried I get that Hudler is going to be offered a ridiculous offer sheet from a rival team. He seems to be fully on the radar now, which is great for him. He deserves all the attention he gets. Sucks for us though... the Wings won't match a ridiculous offer. To make matters worse... Hudler and Hossa seem to really be able to read each other well. Based on what I saw going on between Hossa and Hudler the other night against Minnesota, Hudler and Hossa could be just as lethal as Hank and Pavs. Offensively, maybe more so. Yes... I'm greedy. But I would be REALLY bummed to see Hudler go. He's slowly emerging as one of my favorite Wings.
-
It seems pretty obvious to me. He's still playing incredible hockey, but he seems a lot more tentative than he usually is. Not many discussions going on about the D situation with all the forwards bieng negotiated with, but I think there are a couple issues. I'm not in any way, shape or form advocating the trade of Lidstrom. But seeing him hindered reminds me how fragile our defense is without him. I've gone through the season so far assuming that there was a lack of focus because most nights the Red Wings defensive game is far from stellar. I think the D needs new blood. I predict Holland will ship someone off the roster and bring in a suprising name.
-
I said "mid-range" defensemen. Care to name a mid-range defensemen making 6 million a year that the Wings would be interested in. I love how people on this board just LOVE to put words in other peoples mouths in order to create a debate. The undying devotion some of you show to certain members of the Red Wings is amusing to say the least.
-
Who said anything about trading half of the D? Quick answer... nobody. I, personally, would consider Kronwall the most valuable of the D that we can part with. Stuart isn't going anywhere with his NTC. Rafalski isn't going anywhere either. Lebda doesn't carry much value. Chelios has little trade value. Meech hasn't earned much value yet. The more I think about it... I wouldn't be upset to see a package deal with a forward or two to pick up a solid defensmen. I'm not saying that this is something that they HAVE TO DO. I just think something suprising is going to happen at the deadline. I have a feeling a mid-range defensmen will be joining the ranks. Its called a prediction. Despite what you think, I'm entitled to my opinion and my prediction.
