Marchand 100% of the time. I don't like either of them, but like it or not Marchand is a very skilled hockey player. Shaw is an uglier Maltby basically.

This season was pretty strange for Tootoo. I thought he played great in the first half of the games, there was even talk of throwing him on a line with Datsyuk before the whole Abdelkader line came about. Then he started getting benched a lot and Babcock seemed to lose trust in him. I've heard from someone who used to play with him on the Preds that he's not the nicest guy in the locker room, and I wonder if his attitude has something to do with it? Just speculation, nothing more. Anyway, I agree with the OP and others, he is an effective player and I wish he'd get a bit more of a chance. I really hope Helm comes back healthy next season, and I would love to see them on a line together, along with one of the speedy youngsters.

You forgot Adelkader. I like that forward group for the most part, but the D needs some work, IMO.

Helm will be playing. I think it is time to say goodbye to Cleary. I'm on the fence about keeping Miller. I like him, but we have Eaves signed and they bring about the same thing. Eaves is a righty. Flip can be replaced by Tatar and Nyquist and eventually Jarnkrok. I feel like the Wings won't do much in FA in terms of forwards, since there are already so many options, for better or for worse. I'm curious to see what they do on D, even the D corps is full, I think Holland goes for an experienced guy like Streit or Scuderi.

What team couldn't use another goal scorer? They don't exactly grow on trees. Who is available who fits this bill?

I actually really like the way you edited it, sometimes less is more. We all know how that play finishes, but in a fraction of a second you captured the entire play. It is a very effective technique and you pulled it off excellently several times in this video. Really, really nice work.

The Wings have to play at least as well as they did in game 3, and I would love to see that extra gear from Datsyuk/Z/Franzen. You have to assume the Hawks are going to be playing for their playoff lives and treating this almost as an elimination game - it sure feels like one somehow. With the shakeup to their lineup, that top line is going to be a handful, hopefully Z keeps playing tall continues to neutralize them. With their main defensive forwards all on the top line, I hope this gives Datsyuk a ton of room to take over offensively playing against Kane. LETS GO WINGS!

A rookie defensemen on a weak defense who makes mistakes? Gosh. Yes he has looked bad plenty of times this season. He still has a tremendous amount of upside, limited amount of trade value, and has plenty of years to mature. Trading him would be absolutely idiotic.

I'm not convinced the Wings could beat any of those teams. Particularly now that DeKeyser is out, I'm not sure the Wings would be able to stop high scoring teams like Pitt and Chi.

I feel bad for Danny. Wings really, really need to play well at home.

Me too I am looking forward to this series, and extremely happy they made it. Congrats boys on 22 years! The Ducks are always a tough team and they love to beat us when they can. I expect some very childish antics from Perry and Getzlaf, but I am confident that the Wings will be very competitive this series. LGW

This argument makes no sense to me. You're using hypotheticals to blame Johan Franzen, of all people, for where the Wings currently sit in the standings? I'll play too for a sec: Datsyuk and Zetterberg.... the past month or so both have been fairly mediocre - at times down right invisible. If they were both playing at their elite level we all know they're capable of.... wouldn't the Wings be in better position? Filppula - he's been down right terrible this season and makes only marginally less money than Franzen. Wouldn't the Wings be doing better if he was playing like he did last year? You can say the same for almost every player on the team this season at one point or another. Then there's the injuries, the short season, etc, etc, etc. My point being Franzen is ONE player (who's actually been playing pretty darn well). To blame the shortcomings of this team on him is just asinine and sums up pretty well the irrational hatred he receives from this fan base a lot of the time.

Franzen continues to be the most undeserved whipping boy ever. He's only led the team in goals every single year since he's had his contract.... and he is making UNDER FOUR MILLION DOLLARS. I love it when people can tell how much "effort" someone is putting in. Even when he is outscoring, outhitting, and outplaying almost everyone else on the team, it is still Franzen who gets constantly criticized, even over the players who are making more money than him. Franzen's been one of the hardest working players on the team all year.

Its pretty crazy how hard it is to see a player's true value until he's not playing anymore. We saw it last year with Ericsson, and Helm is pretty obvious. Bert is certainly not the best player in the league, but he is valuable to the team, especially with how poorly the offense has been doing. I was never wild about his latest contract, but the offense needs him right now and for the final push.

Wow, you are severely overlooking what Helm brings to the team. Scoring is not everything in this league, ESPECIALLY for a 3rd/4th line center who is the most integral part of the PK on the entire team. How many teams have 20 goal scorers for their 3rd line center? Those are very unrealistic expectations for a guy who is essentially the new Draper. (Draper hit 20 goals one time in his career, did that make him not valuable to the team?) Helm will NEVER get traded, as he shouldn't. He holds faaar more value to this team than he would garner in a trade.
