Gritty beard (mine looks HORRENDOUS when fully grown), my unwashed Datsyuk jersey (I wash it once a year in the off season, almost a religious ceremony) I wear it on every game day. If we really need a win that night, I'll also wear Wings hats and t-shirts. I have an autographed Gordie Howe picture on the wall, and if the Wings REALLY need a win, I'll ask Gordie to help us out. He always does.

Williams hasn't done a damn thing for us this season. I understand the logic behind having a right handed shot on the point on the PP, but what good is it if that right handed shot is terrible? As per the topic: I think the OP is right in a lot of ways, but I think he'll play most games. Might depend on the matchup. I wouldn't mind seeing even May get back in a game or two if the opponent is right.

Ok folks. Had a chance to drive by there today and check it out. At first I was concerned I missed it, maybe its hard to see, but kept driving on just in case. Sure enough... there it was in all of its splendor. Impossible to miss. I literally nearly caused a violent pile-up because I was laughing so hard that I couldn't see. I regained control of my car and start at the painting in awe. The mural towers impressively at least eight stories high, Jonathon's nose taking up nearly half of those floors. Folks... pictures do not do this thing justice. It has to be seen in person. Like the grand canyon or the Eiffel tower, this monument is a true spectacle to behold.

I had high hopes for Leino, but alas, it never worked out. I think if he were still on the Wings it would be a lot more of the same disappointment he displayed earlier this season.

Having a couple of superstars and 1st overall picks is the real difference here. Also, Phoenix hasn't been THAT terrible. They've been bad, but not as bad as the Pens were several years back. Also, if the Yotes lose in the first round I feel like the minor hype that surrounds them now will evaporate pretty quickly.

Have you been to any other NHL arenas? What you describe is widespread, not just in Washington. Try attending a game in Chicago, or Anaheim. Your entire argument makes no sense to me. You are angry that the Caps have a substantial fanbase instead of a half-full arena. This entire baseless tirade screams of inane jealously more than anything else. You use false examples like the 'fans' (as if they are one singular entity, every single person shouting together [yet also say all the bandwagoners are on their blackberrys not paying attention])screaming for diving on a high stick. Did this actually happen? Or are you just creating the context of an overgeneralized example of the things that happen in EVERY single NHL arena? As I said in my earlier post... stop going to the games if you are this sensitive about fans being fans. Get over it, man.

As great as he has been, he's still a question mark in terms of playoffs. Everyone knows that the playoffs are a totally different beast. I think you're right in that he probably will be good for us based on his recent play, however that doesn't make him a guaranteed playoff performer yet. It all remains to be seen.

Having that much hatred towards anything involving sports is just sad and pathetic. I live in Chicago and deal with the absurdity of Hawks fans, as well as years of terrible management. I claim to "hate" them, because they chant DETROIT SUCKS and have no hockey knowledge whatsoever... But seriously man... calm down. It is a sport. A game. For entertainment. They aren't even 'your' team, as you have displayed yourself to be a Wings fan. You just gave a lengthy analysis of every way the Capitals aren't the Red Wings. There are 28 other teams who aren't the Red Wings either. You failed to mention where this blinding, hysterical rage comes from. Because their management isn't as good as the Wings? I suggest you stop going to Caps games. Stop watching Caps games. Stop watching hockey. Clearly, it has a major negative effect on you emotionally, even leading you to become violent. Just remove yourself from hockey all together if your disillusions have angered you to the point of hatred and potential violence. Jeez.

As happy as I would be to beat the Hawks and shut up their ignorant fans.... I'd be equally depressed and devastated if they lost to the hawks in round 1. I'd rather face the Hawks in round 2 when their goalie problems have manifested and the inexperience starts to show.

This. Best player in the league, an original 6 team, two teams who HAVEN'T BEEN IN WC BEFORE. Yankee Stadium, Meadowlands, plenty of venues and two huge market teams. Also for those of you who have used the "if it was the wings no one would complain" argument... That argument is soo ignorant. The fact is... its NOT the Wings. Why even bring that up? Attempting to use foolish reverse psychology and false hypothetical scenarios is just dumb. "What if it were the Wings?" Well, its not the wings... its the pens... again, and again, and again, its always them who get the breaks, more than enough evidence to show that. Also I don't see how this gives any more 'exposure' to hockey than any other good matchups. If there is one team that casual or non hockey fans DEFINITELY already know about, its the Pens. They are already ridiculously overexposed, how would they bring anything in terms of new exposure? I hate they sacrifice quality for money/exposure at the expense of the fanbase that has been supporting the NHL for years. Does the NHL really expect to attract more 'new' fans than the number of 'real' fans that it already has?
