I agree. It is supposed to be every team's goal and obligation to try to get deep in the playoffs every year, and I hate to hear it used as an excuse.
-
Didn't the kings have another jersey style before the Gretzky era? With those big crowns and gold jerseys. Those were sweet. I agree with you on the Whale, miss that team.

Don't feel like fishing through all these pages, anyone hear why Hossa was scratched today? He hurt?
-
Actually he has already been suspended once this year and received a game misconduct today. Dunno where this 'NHL refusal' is that you speak of.

Kinda surprised Guerin isn't on there.

So much depends on what our veterans decide to do/demand in salary. I don't think Bert would demand 3million. He has bounced around for the past 7 years or so and has recently stated that he would love to finish his career in Detroit. He is valuable as a 20 goal scorer and a veteran presence, however this is barely offset by his downside. He takes too many stupid penalties and is losing his touch offensively. I think one or two years at 1.3-1.5 would be reasonable. Same for Homer. As a whole that roster isn't terrible. The Hudler piece is still a big IF. Also, the majority of our players have shown themselves to be injury-prone, so while that roster may look decent now, if a few players go down it looks a lot more sparse. If we could afford it I would like to make an offer for some kind of goal-scoring forward.

Love it. I know for the past 40 games or so people have been saying "most important game of the season", but this games IS important. A win is a big pull ahead to securing a spot and potentially making a push for a higher seeding. Lets Go Wings!

I didn't think I'd miss him as much as I do. I'd love to have Hudler back

So somebody actually took the time to hack this site? So... they literally studied computers and technology for years of their life, all leading up to the point where they could... hack the LGW forums? To post a picture of a black chicken? I cannot even possibly imagine a much more pitiful and pathetic existence than one where you would feel compelled to take the trouble to hack this site. What a world we live in.

I really hope he stays here. He is a fun player to watch.

Maltby took one for the team here. We needed the cap, he needed the surgery. He is a valuable part of the PK unit but there are also good replacements for him. It would be a shame to think that his career is over, he has been such a huge part of the team for so long. I'd like to think they could sign him for minimum next year and he can play in GR and some games up here when we need him, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was done too. Best of luck with the shoulder Maltby, thanks for all the good service.

Lets Go Wings! 21 games to go!

Kane can disappear for large stretches of time during games. He did have a good run at the Olympics and looked more defensively responsible than usual. He's still a hawk.
-
I'd rather spend a day with his wife.
-
They had Valiquette in net for a while at the beginning of the season but I think they sent him down a couple months ago. Dunno who the backup was since then.
-
Strange.

Anyone know what time the gold medal game will be? Can't find it anywhere.
-
I remember watching a Wild game once and the announcer said something like "and here's Clutterbuck, the most dangerous man in sports for broadcasters"
-
Hmm, looks like a decent deal. While I don't really think he would have fit into our system at all, I was kinda hoping the Wings would take a look. Oh well, best of luck to him.

Anyone who thinks Kopecky is good at all is simply fooling themselves. Especially whoever said he had promise to play on a checking line. Really? I think Kopecky is probably the worst checker I have ever seen play in over 20 years of watching hockey. Until the game yesterday, I literally have not seen him win a single check. He gets knocked over on every single hit attempt, which goes to show his weakness. He is a terrible skater with absolutely no scoring touch. What does he bring exactly? What is this 'all around talent' of which you speak? The fact that this year he is on one of the top offensive teams in the league, and last year was on one of the top offensive teams in the league, and he STILL is unable to put up points with any shred of consistency speaks volumes about his ability. Him playing one decent game against a team that was asleep and scoring a gift of a goal on a wide open net is not enough to impress me, sorry.

I was more surprised that Williams is a great scorer.

This news is kind of ideal. I love Malts, but we really need this cap space and I'm sooo happy that Lilja will be back. For some reason I was under the impression that the surgery would require Maltby to miss the rest of the season and the playoffs. The fact that he could be healthy for the playoffs is great.
