He does shoot more... but he shoots wide.

I'm actually pretty let down by him this season. I expected a lot more from him and he doesn't seem to have the skills and abilities that I thought he would show by now. He has proven himself to be an egregious goal scorer.... nobody gets as many wide-open nets as he does, but he always finds a way to miss. His goal yesterday was cool, but it was lucky, his initial backhand wasn't even on net. He is good defensively, but for the amount we are paying him and the role he was supposed to play this season.... I'm pretty disappointed.... yes yes, I know EVERYONE's points are down, etc., but I wanted to see a whole lot more from Fil this year.

I really wanted to see Leino work out for us and the wings. I still think that he is a better player than his performance this year indicated, and its too bad that he didn't at least maximize his trade value. I wish him the best and hope that he can find some kind of groove. Also hope Tollefson works out. Looks to me like they're definitely getting ready to get rid of another D-man.... or maybe two.

Wow looks like a great time... I'll be moving to LA in the next year, hopefully I can join in on the fun!

Sweden makes it seem like the Wings have purposely done poorly this year, all in an evil attempt to thwart them come the Olympics.

I've been wondering this for a while, but I haven't heard anything since the initial incident where the NHL said they would be investigating. My guess is that no matter what they found, we wont be hearing anything further about it. I really don't think the Hawks will get Kovi, they don't need him and there are other teams that do. If Tallon was still in office, he'd probably do anything possible to try to get Kovi, but I think Bowman is smart enough to know that his team is good enough as it is without the need to give up depth and future.

Not really Hitch's fault on the season. Oh well.

lol I saw that article this morning and that was the first thing I thought of.

Meech is terrible, but to a lesser extent than Lebda. Meech always seems to be trying really hard out there, even if his skillset is low. Last night's goal was pretty flukey but he worked hard for it. There have been at least a few games this year where I thought Meech looked quite good.

I would spring for nicer skates and a nicer stick. Better skates will make it an easier and less painful transition for the first few times you get on the ice. Sticks are somewhat difficult to choose cause you never really know until you go out and skate with it. Maybe try just borrowing a friend's stick for a while and trying out various friends' sticks until you find one that seems comfortable. Also, this might sound paranoid and motherly but... get a cheap moldable mouthgaurd. My front two teeth were accidentally knocked out years ago... and its just nice to have all your teeth.

Not sure if the number of dives being called is down... haven't been watching many Pens games this season. Its rare to see the diving penalty called without another 2 minute minor on the other guy. I know its been talked about, but this still makes absolutely no sense to me. Its one or the other, it cannot be both. This is so beyond obvious to me, I can't believe this is STILL how it works. Even announcers and analysts go crazy about this rule.

I think we should trade Franzen. Seriously... this guy been pretty invisible out there this year. Ever since he got hurt against the Hawks its like he never scores goals. Anyone else agree with this? We are nearly halfway through the season and he's tied with Doug Janik in points. While his production has dropped this year, I still think Franzen has trade value.
-
Pretty sure nobody suggested that.... Also someone asked you earlier in the thread: What would another team possibly give us for either/both of these guys?
-
Horrible deal for the flames, they definitely got the worst of it. The Rangers will continue their mediocrity regardless.

I had said: oops.

I would have put Williams in the 4th or 5th spot personally, but who knows. When they showed the 'on-ice' view of his shot... it looked pretty bad. He literally shot it directly into Fleury's glove, Fleury didn't even have to move his arm to catch it. There was definitely some room there up top, he just missed. Zetterberg has been missing those on the shootout as well, and Cleary/Fil haven't been spectacular either.

Hard not to go with Howard. Lidstrom definitely deserves consideration despite his drop in points. There are a number of guys who have performed well above expectations, notably Homer, Bert, Eaves and Miller. Of course there are guys performing well under expectations as well.

After the game they mentioned that he was fine, but I haven't heard anything since. I think it was Pierre who basically immediately declared that Kronwall would not only miss games but miss the entire Olympics. NBC is terrible.

Remember when our team was this: Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Leino-Abdelkader-Eaves Draper-Helm-Miller May-Newbury-Maltby Lidstrom-Meech Janik-Rafalski Lebda-Stuart ?
-
Didn't we lose to them also?

Agreed
