I was actually thinking just yesterday why if this has ever happened. Classy by Miller.... remember in the 08 off season when there was speculation the Wings might sign him? sigh.
-
Kudos on spelling the word 're-sign', rather than the popular and incorrect alternative which I often see as 'resign'.

I do read the threads. Actually there is one going where many posters claim Datsyuk as the best defensive forward in the league. You make it seem like every Wings fan is bashing Datsyuk, and that just is not the case. You have stated he is struggling because of his linemates... well there are already about 30492323 topics on this... or maybe you haven't had a chance to check those yet seeing as how you have been a member here for less than an hour, and have spent your time creating baseless threads about how us fans aren't complaining enough about Zetterberg. Also, the title to this thread is tactless, we don't want to see that and worry for a few seconds that another star player is hurt.
-
ok so your argument is that we should create more threads complaining about Zetterberg, our leading point scorer? Noted.

I have a Datsyuk and Yzerman myself, and I am in the market for a Franzen or maybe even a Helm. Maybe even a Dmac throwback.

I think the most fair way to compare Crosby and Ovechkin is to count the amount of hats thrown on the ice after all of their career hat tricks. Sadly, Sid is winning now.

Hell, how about alphabetical order? Abby-Bert-Cleary Datsyuk-Draper-Eaves Helm-Holmstrom-Maltby May-Miller-Zetterberg

Absolutely a terrible call, yet not the least bit surprising. Also the early whistle in the 2nd period was equally as terrible. The refs are pathetic.

WTF. Worst. Medics. Ever. Looks like a pretty vicious hit by mess. Like you said, not necessarily against the rules, but he should still know better. The EMT personel are the real badguys here.

I agree. I have been suggesting for a few seasons that he is awful defensively but everyone always tells me that his other strengths outweigh this... im not so certain. He turns the puck over constantly. He is inept at holding the puck in at the line, even on the most basic passes.

Kane played with Havlat for most of those 2 years. That being said, Hossa looked as good as ever tonight, and the Hawks will be tough to beat. To be fair, the Sharks played as bad as I have ever seen them play, terrible passing, turnovers, not moving their feet. The first 3 goals were shorthanded. I disagree about that line being the best in the NHL, there are some pretty strong ones out there, and 1 game isnt enough of a sample size to judge what this line can do, on BOTH ends of the ice. The thing that is troubling me the most about the Hawks is their supposed 'awful' goaltending and mediocre defense. Their GA is the lowest in the west, and they are allowing very few shots. Scary if they keep it up, yet I remain optimistic that they wont.

To me, all of the young guys with the exception of Leino (who really isnt that young), have been right about where I expected them to be. None of them have blown the roof off yet, but I don't think any of us really expected them to. They are learning the game, playing their roles, and overall, I am satisfied. Leino hasn't produced as much as any of us would have liked, but he still has plenty of time to build chemistry with some of the guys, especially when we get some players back. Not sure if Eaves and Miller are considered 'kids', but I am quite happy with both signings. Eaves works really hard, and his chances will come. Haven't seen nearly enough of Miller to judge, but hey, that goal the other night was a beauty, and he stepped up at a time where nobody on our team was stepping up, so that is a good sign. Overall: They are looking as good as I thought they would. No better, no worse.

I dont mind seeing crosby and ovechkin on this list, even though their role is entirely post-lockout. Call me crazy, but the only person who I think should not be on this list is Scott Niedermeyer, thats just me. I understand why guys like Lecavalier and crew don't make the list, they have had good seasons, and they also had some just OK seasons (which is also my argument for Niedermeyer). Sundin makes some sense to me, but overall, a pretty good list I think.

Time in. Yes, I've watched nearly every hawks game, and if you'll refer to my post the first thing I said about Kane was that he got immensely better through this season and the playoffs. However, he still stands around defensively, and on many occasions causes turnovers, many of which lead to goals. I'm not going fishing on youtube, but I remember one particularly humorous one against Samuelsson and the Canucks this season. Just because a player has improved offensively does not mean that he has become a defensive force as well. Im kinda with Miller Brew on this one... how many of you hawks fans are lurking in the depths of LGW? I know for a fact there are hawks forums.

I agree completely. I didn't realize they were using NHL sized rinks for the Olympics this year... that really kinda frustrates me... my favorite part about olympic hockey is how open the ice is.

This is great. Thanks a ton for putting this up and going through the effort!

i love it! Not to start a debate here, but what McCarty does right after the hit strikes me as very similar to the Bertuzzi incident, only with different results.

Lol. wow. I never said Hossa would hurt the hawks... what an absurd assertion. My words were "Hopefully hossa's return ruins their chemistry.... i can dream can't i? ". If you cannot translate the inflection in that statement then, well... good luck in life and beyond. Also, missing from my rant about the hawks was the fact that Quenville is their coach.
-
lol good story. While the jerseys werent as dizzying as the striped ones... the ones tonight pretty much looked like minor league baseball uniforms. Way to go babs.

heal quickly kronner. Seemed to me like a damned filthy play by Laraque. Blatently stuck his leg out because he was beat, a malicious and idiotic move. Terrible.

First of all... Kopecky is NOT playing well... at all. He has 3 points in 20 games (before tonights game) and is a -6. Not to mention the amount they are paying him for this production. He is playing worse than he did on the wings, which is saying a LOT. Good riddance. I already noted that the hawks are playing well without hossa... but still, I am not convinced they are as good of a team as people are saying (though as i already mentioned, they ARE playing well at the moment). So when he returns, all bets are off. Their defense is essentially the same as it was last year, but with far weaker goaltending. Their young forwards are maturing, but for as good as Kane is getting offensely, it almost seems he is getting worse defensively. Also, the Hawks have one of the most lackluster special teams game in the league. They box up and stay stationary, an outdated approach to the PP or PK. I predict this will be a very streaky team all season, currently they are on a hot streak, but I don't see it continuing on a consistent basis. Maybe I'm just jealous/biased, but that's just my take on it.
