Unfortunately, yeah. It kind of is. Howard has been OK, he's had some great games and there have been some close ones. He needs more support but yeah those numbers are pretty unflattering. Real tough stretch of games coming up, and the Wings need all the points they can get, especially the 2 points tonight.

Shame this guy got so unlucky with injuries these past couple of seasons, always loved his speed and energy during the call ups a few seasons ago, but because of injuries/full lineups he never really got the shot he deserved. Best of luck to him, I'd love for him to clear and play in GR, but if not I hope an NHL team takes a real shot at him.

This brings up memories of that officiating travesty playoff round against San Jose a few years ago. Remember when Setoguchi high sticked Franzen in the face, drew blood, and they gave the penalty to Franzen instead of Seto? This guy is a POS, its a shame the rules in the NHL are so pointlessly written that when a player gets fined the "maximum amount" it equates to less than a slap on the wrist.

He's been pretty awful. I know we are riddled with injuries, but giving him this much time on the top line is just too much. Its time to call up Nyquist, this team needs people who can actually be effective top 6 scorers in the top 6. Maybe we can trade him for a pick, some team that doesn't watch the Wings might not know how awful he is.

Don't the Wings have a tendency to make no-name 3rd string goalies look like Vezina caliber superstars? Hope that doesn't happen tonight. The injuries are getting a little ridiculous but you gotta battle through it. I'm not pleased that Nyquist STILL hasn't been called up, but I guess it is what it is. Is this the last time we play St. Loiuis this year? If we get a lot of shots on net, play decent defensively (stop giving up so ****ing many breakaways and odd mans) then I like our chances. Tootoo was awesome last night, exactly what I had hoped for when we got him. The reason for his ice time being so low is obviously because of the penalties. There were something like 36 minutes of minor penalties called, over half the game. (Also, none of those minors were taken by Tootoo, a complaint that this detractors were concerned about when he was signed). I expect him to get around 10 minutes in a more evenly officiated game, and I think when our lines are back to normal, and he is playing with Abby instead of Emmerton, that line will see even more ice time.

It is pretty funny how we all bitched and moaned about Bert and Sammy and Colaiacavo being on the roster, and now Bert and Sammy and Colaiacavo aren't on the roster. We all new Gus would get a shot up this year when injuries hit. This is a big opportunity for him, that 2nd line has not looked particularly special, I'd love to see him develop some chemistry with Fil and Mule.

Actually kinda nervous to see them play again. I'm not a doom and gloomer but the way they played the other night was one of the worst overall performances I've ever seen them play. I hope it was a fluke, and they just play with some heart. The injuries are brutal, but its giving some new faces a look at the NHL. LGW

GDT looks amazing, I know a lot of work must go into making all of that, so thanks! This will be a tough game, the Blues are a good team and have very well balanced lines. Having Helm out is pretty significant against a team like this. I miss #5 already, but I'm excited for the new era. Things I'm most looking forward to seeing: Pav and Z back together. Brunner on the top line. New special teams. Tootoo fight. LGW!

I've loved the Tootoo signing since day one. Best of luck to him, I think he'll be great on our fourth line.

Not trying to discredit the OP, but I can think of more than 2 players. And neither Matthias or Rivers fulfill the 82gp requirement stated in the OP. A little confused about this thread TBH....

Early wins will be extremely important this season. I'm curious to see how the whole schedule looks.

The Franzen buyout talk needs to stop, its a little ridiculous. Yes, everyone wants him to be a 40 goal scorer, but he just isn't. What he IS is a reliable 25+ goal scorer at very reasonable price. With the cap going down, his contract becomes one of the most valuable on our entire team. I get that several years down the road he might not be worth what he's making, but right now it would be asinine to get red of him, especially when one of our weaknesses is reliable top 6 goal goalscoring... Anyone else there interested in Rob Scuderi? Every team in the league will be making a pitch for Edler, and ultimately I see some team offering him way more than he's worth (he's good, but to call him great would be a stretch).

Yeah 50 is insane. No one will get 40 either. Even 30 is a lot. I think maybe only 1 or 2 players get 30.
