I only caught the last seven minutes or so... but they looked good! Howard made some huge stops that I saw and they did a great job on the 5 on 3. Very glad Datsyuk broke out. How'd Zetterberg look?

I went back the other day and watched all of Franzen's goals from last season and its surprising how many of them were very nice set-ups by Bertuzzi. Really hope we can see some of that today. As others have noted, Pav and Z need to be Pav and Z. I think I'm going to miss most of this one, but GO WINGS!!!

Lol yes. He did it like five times last night. The worst part about it is how he SEEMS to actually hesitate and think about it... "Niklas Kron(m)...well," like he's having some deep inner struggle to say it right but his brain just won't let him.

I wouldn't mind a little more physicality but its not nearly as black and white as you make it out to be. A physical guy in the bottom 6 isn't going to get our star players playing like they used to. He isn't going to motivate the team to play 60 minutes. He isn't going to help defensive zone turnovers or late period goals. I do think more phsyicality would benefit this team, but I don't think its the solution to all of the problems in Detroit.

That is just soo typical. Just like last season, this last minute BS. Brutal.
-
There it is! Atta boy Homer.
-
Abby had three good scoring chances and then got demoted to the 4th line?
-
I like it so far. Niemi really isn't that great, the key to beat him is to just pepper him with shots, just what they're doing. Keep it up.
-
Wow... that wasn't in?
-
Good pressure there! Atta boy Apples!

If I recall, there was a preseason game where Helm ran the PP and they looked amazing. Just sayin.
-
Need less Cleary and Holmstrom.
-
I think its a good idea. Eaves has a very underrated shot too, especially when he has some space to let it rip. I stuck up for Cleary all season so far, but... he's been brutal. I feel bad for Pavel on the top line.

I'd like 3+ games to send a little message that that kind of play is incredibly needless, avoidable, and unacceptable. My guess is that because Kronwall came back into the game and played, it won't be as severe. Two games likely. Stewart is a good hard player, but you just NEVER hit a guy when he is in that position a few feet from the boards. They teach you that when you're a Mite and Squirt.

Pretty brutal game.
-
Glad Kronner is back, but I still think that hit should get Stewart a few games. It was just dumb and unnecessary.

Get it the hell together boys.
-
lol kronwall

Nice bail out Jimmy.

Am I just a homer, or are the Blues clutching and grabbing like its 1999?
-
Yup. That was awesome.

Yeah I don't promote the 1-3-1 and I think its dull, boring hockey, but certain situations make sense. I read an article in the paper that said every NHL team uses the trap at some point or another. Not sure if that's true or not, but enforcing this rule seems like a logistical nightmare.
-
The problem is, many teams in the NHL go into the trap from time to time during a game depending on the score. Few teams use the trap exclusively like Tampa Bay, but its still a very common tactic overall, especially with a big lead. I don't see how they can possibly rule to eliminate this and how it would be enforced.

Okay and for the millionth time, in the NHL RULEBOOK, they are not fair game. Period. Its really not that hard to understand.
