As a (failed) TV/film writer, this does kind of piss me off. Hire me darnit! I would have at least used Hudler.
-
Ever since the 08 playoffs when Helm got the call-up I was amazed by his speed and defensive skill. His points have improved every season, and I expect that again this year. 20 goals is possible, might not happen this year but I do think he'll hit 20 sooner or later.
-
Now let the off-season begin.
-
I de-negged you but you're still at -1. I want to see what Bruno can do, but I just assume Babs won't shake things up unless we get a loss or an injury, and hopefully we don't get either.
-
Because the Wings are 3-0 with two straight shutouts. Its early, Eaves and Bruno will get plenty of games. LGW!
-
There were some bad calls in the game both ways. Don't look up the hip check by Ballard if you don't want to be sick.
-
I wish I coulda seen the fight. The Abby quote is awesome too. Even more pathetic that Lappy was the one who challenged him, then turtled and only tried to hit Abby when there was 3 refs in between them.
-
The difference might also have been that the Canucks had like 3 decent shots on goal in the last 40 minutes of the game. Wings need to get the PP going, it looked decent at times, terrible at others. Didn't the Bruins win the cup though with some remarkably horrible PP%? Maybe this is the "new NHL".
-
I loved seeing Pavs and Z on the same line last game, hope that continues. The Canucks looked pretty bad for the first period and a half last night, I didn't watch the rest. I just want to see a win and a solid 60 and hopefully some improvement on the PP. GO WINGS!!!

Good on JR. For the record, its obviously not Crosby's fault that they are doing this... But JR is right, enough is enough. There is a freaking season being played at the moment, come on.
-
Malkin said to be out tonight too. Surprise, surprise.
-
Wings are 0 for 9 on the powerplay?? That'll need to change.
-
It would have been nice if he had just kept it as an update-able list of all the lineups used instead of turning into yet another "here are the lines I want" thread. At the very least he could have put his "lines I want" in a second post in this thread.
-
Hudler already has more points than he did in the first 20 games or something last season. No reason to mess with that quite yet. Flip might be great on Pavs wing, but he has been excellent so far on Z's wing as well.

I loved the new top line last night. Seeing Pavs and Hank out there again was magical, and Cleary is a great compliment because he will go into corners and battle far harder than Homer ever could. Obviously Cleary is nowhere near as good as Homer in front of the net, but honestly, who is? The great thing about having 3 centers in the top 6 is that we can mix things up at any time. The Wings were playing pretty terribly in the first period. Turnovers, laziness, bad passing. Sometimes you just need a shakeup midgame. I do expect the lines to go back to the way they were, but its much better to do the juggling early in the season and figure out what works and what doesn't. Bottom line is we are 2 and 0, and have played pretty well for the most part. Definitely room for improvement, but it could be a lot worse. Thursday against Vancouver will be a great test, we won't be able to get away with some of the sloppiness of the first two games against them.

All I want is a win, boys, but I would love a full 60 as well. I would like to see: -A bit more Datsyuk magic than last night. -Flip buries one of his chances, he's played well. -Franzen starts to play like Franznen. -Bit more discipline form White, and no more kicking in own goals! -Helm shorty. -Stay healthy LGW!!!
-
Hmm wonder if I get in Chicago on RCN. Not that it'll matter tonight, since my remote control broke and the stupid cable box doesn't have any buttons on it so you can't change the channel without the remote. Grrrr. I love the future.
-
Awesome GDT!!! Go Wings! I just want to see hard work, consistent play, and oh yeah, a win! LGW!!!
-
Yeah some seriously bad goals so far.

An insanely underrated player at only 22 years old. He was rushed into the NHL onto a travesty of a team and his numbers suffered. On Philly he could thrive, he is a very talented young player. It was a good game, both teams played hard, good goaltending, good chances, fairly clean play. I love having hockey back!

Flyers are proving me wrong here. Their chemistry woes appear non-existent right now, they look good together.
-
Pretty interested to see how the Flyers do tonight. Their team has a pretty different look this season. A lot of analysts are hyping them quite a bit, but I'm really think they might have some chemistry/identity issues in the coming months.

Can't wait for hockey to start! Its been a loooong off season.
