One year, 3-3.5m and I think it is a perfectly fine deal. I sorta doubt the Wings had any plans to go after any of the top forward FAs anyways, and would have had to overpay to land any of them. I hope they can now just focus on defense.

Report: NHL to have 5 outdoor games in 2014-15.

How original..... This event has officially run its course. -
Let's convert Lashoff to a shootout specialist. Or Gustavsson.
-
Don't tell LeftWinger but I hear the Wings are scouting European super forward Fabias Leinstrom from the EHSKDHL. He's 5'4", 108lbs, and had a career season with 3 points in 4 games. Its rumored Holland promised him top line minutes.
-
He really should find a place somewhere, he can be a decent player if he can stay healthy. I'd like to see him go to a rebuilding team that needs offense (I know, Nashville didn't work) so that maybe he has an expanded role offensively. He has a good shot and is/was a pretty good skater. I've been saying for years, as have a lot of you, that having both Miller and Eaves on the team is extremely redundant. I was usually in the Eaves camp until the injuries started to pile up. Wish him all the best, though.

How big were the Wings that year? Cause they had just been to the Cup finals two years in a row...

Signed Detroit re-signs Gustavsson 1 yr $1.85 mill

Yeah, I like it. Cap space isn't a concern, and considering the injury bug to the goalies last year, it is good that there are three capable guys who can step in net. Hopefully Jonas is healthier this season and earns himself a solid starter job somewhere next year when Mrazek is ready for the full time backup role. (Have we fired the training staff yet? The groin injuries last year were absurd.) -
I hear ya, and I want to believe it. But I still have that shred of worry that he will find himself on the team. Even if he is on GR, he could be up as soon as the first injury, potentially over one of our prospects like Mantha or Pulk. I'm not saying it is the worst move ever, but still... I don't like it.
-
Because he doesn't score 5 goals a game like he did that one time. Therefore he is lazy and he sucks and he is overpaid.
-
It isn't hard to grasp, it is just hard to 100% believe - considering he beat out Nyquist last season when he had absolutely no business being on the team in the first place, it is not out of the realm of possibility to believe they might inexplicably give him a spot over some other youngster to start this season as well (Jurco, Mantha maybe). I think that's what is worrying most folks. My other issue is, I don't even particularly want him taking up a spot on GR either.
-
People aren't calling him that. One person is.
-
Leino - traded for some picks. Brunner - helped us immensely in the playoffs that year, and one of our better goalscorers that season. Brunnstrom - played like 6 games. Which one of these signings hurt the team again?
-
He was talking about the Sharks... was there anything at all untrue about what he said?
-
This kid is definitely something special. I'm excited to see him play, and I think the GR/RW system is the best possible development system for a player like him.
-
If you told me a year ago that Emmerton would be playing in Sochi in 2014, I probably wouldn't have believed you.
-
Pretty funny. A lot of work went into that, whoever made it.
-
Every other team passed on every one of those players too at some point in these drafts, it isn't unique to the Wings. Its easy to look at drafts in hindsight and think how much better the Wings would look, but when compared to all the other teams and considering their draft position the past 20+ years, its hard to make an argument for any other team having a better track record than the Wings when it comes to drafting (and developing).
-
I hate to pile on here, but BARF. You honestly think Niskanen and old man Boyle are better than Kronwall is right now? Brodeur and Mrazek??? Is that even serious? You would give us the worst goalie tandem in the league... while we give up the BETTER goalie (for...nothing, apparently) who makes less money?? AND you're giving Brodeur a TWO million dollar raise? Then you have Bolland on the top line??? He wasn't even good enough as a 3rd liner for the Maple Leafs, and you are going to throw him on the top line? And why is Mantha an extra forward? That would be the absolute worst possible decision for his development... have him play in 0 leagues instead of having him tear up the one league he should (and will) be playing in. Where is Nyquist? Where are these guys going that you are just giving up... without a single non-FA player coming back in return? This is the single worst Wings related capgeek roster I've ever seen, and I've seen quite a few (even made a few bad ones myself).
-
I think I only got to $3. Pretty sad. I sent $15 instead, hopefully next year is a big one!
-
I guess I didn't specify WHICH team had to get the shutout. So there's another dollar last night.
-
These are amazing guys. Keep up the great work.
-
Being more employed this year than I have in years past, I shall partake! 1 dollar for every goal scored by Nyquist, Tatar, Jurco, Sheahan, Glendening, DeKeyser, and Smith. 1 dollar for every shutout. 5 dollars for every goal by Cleary.

Detroit says Weiss "Not Getting Better", likely done for year
hooon replied to WingsAlways's topic in General
What is unfortunate about this news is that it affects our off seasons plans quite a bit, since we still don't know what we have in Weiss. It particularly could affect the re-signing of Legwand. Hopefully he can actually recover and become something of the player we hoped he would be. -
Mitch Callahan takes selfie after puck to the mouth (GRAPHIC)

Someone should photoshop that into the "Buzz's girlfriend... WOOF!" meme from Home Alone. -
Both guys will be back by the playoffs, so it shouldn't matter. Such a shame that Duchene is out for the Avs, otherwise I could definitely see the Hawks losing in the first round. I don't think they repeat this year anyway, there's way too many other good teams in the West.
