Yeah I'm puzzled there too. Both Bertuzzi AND Holmstrom are signed through next season anyway, they both have serviceable contracts, and both can chip in about 15-20 goals each. Oh yeah and they both have NTC, I believe. Getting rid of experienced depth players and plugging in inexperienced rookie prospects is not a very safe way to go. See: The Chicago Blackhawks. I think Mursak will be in the lineup, I believe we're out of the minor league options with him, and have him signed anyway. We probably sign Eaves to a similar 1 year deal, and let Miller go. Mo and Drapes retire, leaving us with a couple of spots for either a prospect or FA. This year's FA pool is pretty weak, IMO. Big E has to go, and I'm guessing Salei is gone as well. Like someone else said, that probably means Kindl + plug. I wouldn't be completely surprised to see a rare off-season trade, though. The cap going up could make things interesting too.

A sucker punch is not only from the blindside. Its when one person takes advantage of another's compromised position. In this case Abdelkader was completely tied up by the linesman (not Clowe's fault exactly), and he proceeded to pound away, knowing that Abby could do absolutely nothing to block or return the hits. Text book sucker, imo.

I don't mind the lines, but I think Modano should be given a shot. My problem is that regardless of what lines they practice with, by the end of the game they'll be all shaken up. IMO its going to be hard to develop any consistent chemistry with the lines constantly changing. Hopefully these work and we can go with them. Go Wings!

Me and my friend were watching this and both thought we saw Niemi kick it out, but apparently no one on the ice saw it. Even Niemi had that "aw shucks" expression on this face like he knew it was in. Yeah I don't see how the Sharks offense is better "by a landslide" or even better at all. Referencing the regular season, the Wings outscored them overall, despite having major injuries to several of the biggest offensive players.
