The anticipation is killing me...

Assuming he clears and it all goes through... does definitely mean the Wings will have dump some players? Hudler? Miller? Prospects? How does this work?

Was on a flight with Scotty Bowman a couple years ago and talked with him for a while at baggage claim. He was still with the Wings at the time and said he was on his way to a connecting flight to Russia where he was going to see a player. Great guy, didn't mind chatting it up about hockey for a few minutes. I saw Kopecky at the grocery store last year (at least I'm 99% sure it was him) but I decided not to say anything. Otherwise, I think thats it for me. Impressive lists from you guys, though.

Yeah Jimmy needs to really take the reigns here. He almost got outplayed by our THIRD string goalie. One of the main reasons we were able to get through our big string of injuries last season was because Howie was excellent in net. I'd feel a whole lot better going forward if we would stop letting in 3 or 4 goals every single night.

McCollum now too? This is absurd. I'll be happy with a win. Also I'll be happy if we can remain healthy through the game.

Yeah no doubt about it, Bert is hilarious in interviews. He is always a little shy and awkward and at times it seems like he is seconds away from MURDERING the interviewer. Even when they ask him about movies or music or off-topic questions, its always the same thing with Bert. I always wondered what the protocol was if BOTH goalies did happen to go down with injury in a game. I'm sure most of those guys have grown up playing between the pipes now and then. If you grow up playing hockey a lot, inevitably you had to spend a lot of time between the pipes. Now it would be VERY interesting to see how anyone did against NHL skaters though, lol.

It sucks but our depth options are much better this year. Last year we had to play with Newbury and Janik and Lebda and Meech. I much prefer Mursak, Kindl and Tatar.

Its definitely surprising but I do think he will bounce back. He is one of, if not the, most talented hockey players in the world, but his drive and work ethic do not even come close when compared with Crosby and other players. He needs to stop expecting things and start working for them... and to WANT to work for them. I don't think Bruce is the right coach for him, and I could easily see him gone after this year if they disappoint in the playoffs again. And from the glimpses I saw of 24/7, Ovechkin seems like a pretty piss poor captain.

lol yes. That's when it was first announced. There's one other article I can't find, possibly by someone else, about the leaf's chances preseason, touting Lebda as the reason they will have a fast jump on the blue line. But lol... if Lebda is Burke's best move to date, the guy seriously needs to be fired from hockey.

Can anyone find the article where Eklund (I think that's who it was) praised this move in the offseason, saying it was one of the best signings of the summer? He predicted Lebda was good for "at least 40 points" and that Detroit would sorely miss him. Honestly we could lose about four or five more defensemen and I still wouldn't miss Lebda.

Compared to last year: DET Henrik Zetterberg (separated shoulder) out, Jonathan Ericsson (knee bruise) out, Dan Cleary (separated shoulder) out, Niklas Kronwall (sprained left MCL) out, Jason Williams (fractured right fibula) out, Valtteri Filppula (broken wrist) out, Johan Franzen (torn ACL) out, Andreas Lilja (concussion) out Not sure which is worse, but with two goalies out... I'm thinking this year. Ugh.

Glad to see Abby in. Am I the only one who wants to see Helm and Mursak together? Eaves-Helm-Mursak Draper-Abby-Miller Thats what I'd like to see, but there's a reason Babs is the coach and I'm on the internet.

Agree with all these reasons. Goaltending is huge. No blue line. Also their stars aren't playing like they want it at all. Couture is the only one on that team who has impressed me, but I don't watch all their games. Don't mind seeming them struggle at all, so long as it doesn't giftwrap a playoff spot for Chicago.

IMO, Miller should never have been signed this season. It always should have been Miller OR Eaves, and Eaves is clearly the better choice. I have nothing against Miller, but he is soo useless on a team that already has Eaves, Helm, Abby, and Draper. More Mursak please.
