So..... Your argument is that a fan should only be a fan if the team is doing well?? Welp... this is the EXACT reason we have all been poking fun at you, and sure enough, you don't disappoint. Actually, maybe that other Hawks poster in the other thread did you a favor. 2 days ago you were the biggest troll on this site... now with this new guy, he makes you seem like a genius and a saint by comparison. (I said BY COMPARISON, sheesh.) Also... I literally laughed out loud when you used the Wings past couple of decades of success as a reason why our fanbase is unknowledgeable. I really wonder if you have any awareness of how dumb you come across in your posts. Its not impossible to have a good, intelligent argument against the Wings and their fanbase, but you are doing a ridiculously poor job at it.

12/19 GDT: Stars 4 at Red Wings 3 (OT)

Can't say I'm wild about splitting up Pavs and Z, but hey, Babs knows better than I do. Ozzie gets 400!

    Change of lines

I agree! We should roll out more lineups alphabetically. To the OP, sorry I just don't really like your lines. The D pairings could work. I still want Pav and Z together, I don't even care who the third guy is.

Unfortunately, whether true or not, you citing a source who is "in the know" is not exactly going to be enough to persuade a Wings forums that Hawks fans are universally classy for booing one of the greatest players of all time while he was wearing a Hawks jersey and talking about how much he loves Chicago. I will say this though: Being at the game, I didn't think the booing was that bad, maybe it looked worse on TV. To me, there were more people cheering than booing, and anytime they'd start booing louder, the cheers got louder too. FIBS, I think all of your points in this thread would have been taken much more openly if it wasn't for this other "fan" who is embarrassing himself pretty badly. Its the old 'guilty by association', unfortunately. And that said, I agree with you about painting a fan base with the same brush, every team has their jerk fans, and the Wings are no different. Actually the Hawks fans behind me and my dad at the game were really very friendly, talked hockey with us, told us to "keep our chin up and brush off the insults", and were open and welcoming us as fans. Sadly, the people TWO rows back threatened to piss on us. Yes, PISS on us. Sigh.

IMO, I don't see the point of booing Fedorov either. He gave us some great years, and was ALWAYS a bit of a dramaqueen, even before he left us. I still recall that whole thing about him not playing during the beginning of 97-98 for those contract reasons. I guess I just don't understand booing someone simply for leaving your team. The only time I think it is warranted to boo a particular player is if the player being bood has done something prior ON THE ICE to your team. IE Claude Lemieux for Wings fans, etc. I just don't see the point in booing a player for simply doing his job. He supposed to retire 10 years early cause his hometown didn't want him anymore?

I agree about it being a really questionable heritage night, especially at this point. Him EXPECTING to be bood, is very VERY different than DESERVING to be bood. Of course he is expecting to be bood, he knows as well as anyone how classless and ignorant that fan base can be.

While most of this post is true.... I just cant resist pointing out the absurd depth of irony in you attempting to give us a lesson about respect based on your post history and some of the comments you have made on this board.

hmm... I have a pet snake I could bring. Maybe if I cut him into 8 pieces.

    Tomas Kopecky

I watch every single Hawks games, and Kopecky is still awful. He cannot hold onto the puck, is entirely useless defensively, and who's only offensive production comes from extremely fortunate linemates and flukey bounces and deflections. All three of his goals came when he was playing on the top line with Toews and Hossa. If you honestly think Kopecky is a capable 2nd line power forward, well.... I laugh at you.

Not too lucky for the Yotes if he actually has to play. He had a 14-51 record in college? lol

Colaiacovo getting up from the ice

Lol I missed this at the time, that is awesome. Also, I have seen MUCH closer penalties be awarded a breakaway. If the defending player has to DIVE forward and only then can barely reach the skater a fully extended stick... that pretty much means the said skater is on a breakaway.

    Friday's Game in Chicago

I think im in 307! I'll be there with my dad, I'll be the guy in a filthy beer-stained Datsyuk jersey. I've had all kinds of mixed experiences there as an opposing fan, but in general, its just a hockey game and only the true idiots get out of line. As others have said, just ignore the many stupid things you hear, the constant "Detroit Sucks" chants, and you should be alright. As for me? Its my dad I'm worried about...

Soft Euros..... jk, that was awesome! Those dance steps seemed pretty well rehearsed, did the Coach have anything to say about devoting so much time to off-ice activities? Great work, thanks for showing.

    Tootoo's HUGE hit

What a hit! I never understood all the Tootoo hate. He's the kind of guy you'd love to have on his team, he's actually a pretty interesting guy.

    Standing seats at United Center

I believe there are two "bars" on the 300 level, there might be 4 even, they are located on the corner sections of the ice, I know one of them is around section 307 if that helps. You'll notice them cause they are an actual bar in the hallways as opposed to the normal concession stand. The actual bar area is all standing room with TVs, but on the other side of the bar is a large balcony that overlooks the ice pretty well (better than the normal standing room seats from what I'm reading). Its not a huge area and can get a little crowded with all of the bargoers (remember a lot of the fans are only there to go to the game, not to watch hockey), so if you choose to stand here, get there early. I watched the game once from this area a year ago, and it was pretty good if I recall.

    Standing seats at United Center

Does it say where they are? If its the 300 level, I think I know where they are, though have never sat in them myself. If they are what I think they are, its somewhat of a balcony right outside of a bar area, and there are few sections spread around. Its possible this is something separate than the standing-room seats and just part of the bar. I expect it'll be pretty packed since its the Wings, so I doubt you'll be able to wander and find any empty seats. Edit: Just did a quick search for ya and here's what I came up with: The bar section is different, but a lot of people suggest just watching the game from the bar section anyway. Everyone suggests getting there early to get a good spot (they mention the center ice section). Hope this helps. Oh and have fun at the game! I'll be there too.

    Datsyuk in the Hart conversation

Lol. I like your honesty. I agree with you that Datsyuk should win it if he winds up 10 points behind Crosby, but I don't see that happening unless Crosby misses a lot of games.

    Kane likely out for weeks

Wings fans use it more as a reason to brag than an excuse. All of those injuries and to still finish the way we did would be impressive for any other team. There is a DIFFERENT excuse all together that we Wings fans use as to why we got knocked out by the Sharks.

    Datsyuk in the Hart conversation

Look, I don't mean to go all Carman on you here, but have you seen Crosby's numbers this season? Have you seen his numbers compared to his teammates? I love Datsyuk all day long, but hands down Crosby is the MVP right now, and it has nothing to do with a league bias or crush on him.

12/8 GDT: Predators 3 at Red Wings 2

I'll be at the Hawks game tonight, and couldn't agree with you more. Guess I'll be missing this one, but I expect a big bounce back effort by the Wings tonight. This is not the same Nashville team that has given us so much trouble in the past, no excuses here.
  25. hooon

    Kane likely out for weeks

More like we used it as motivation, as the Wings had the best second half of the season than any other team (including your Hawks), and still managed a good playoff spot, and a second round appearance. You think the Hawks will do that? Also, you have only two injuries right now. This is what the Red Wings injuries looked like during December of last year: DET Henrik Zetterberg (separated shoulder) out, Jonathan Ericsson (knee bruise) out, Dan Cleary (separated shoulder) out, Niklas Kronwall (sprained left MCL) out, Jason Williams (fractured right fibula) out, Valtteri Filppula (broken wrist) out, Johan Franzen (torn ACL) out, Andreas Lilja (concussion) out If its sympathy you're looking for, you aren't going to find it here.
