Homer was supposed to be past his prime 3 seasons ago and surprised everyone last year by becoming one of our leading scorers. The past couple of seasons I have always thought of Homer's production as a nice little bonus to whatever line he's playing on. To me, whether or not he pots a goal is irrelevant as long as the line he is on continues to produce. The great thing about Homer is that he always occupies at least 1 defensemen (usually the #1 guy), sometimes 2, and the goalie. Doesn't matter if he gets tips or goals, his job is very clear and he does it very well. Take up space, screen the goalie, piss off the defense, draw penalties.

They have a case with the Perry call, but its laughable to assert that its because its the Wings or at the Joe. The Wings have gotten screwed by the refs PLENTY of times, both in our barn and others. If you don't want to go shorthanded, don't take penalties, its that simple. Pretty ridiculous for the DUCKS of all teams to cry foul when they are one of the most notoriously dirty teams of the past decade. They went for Franzen's head in this game (fortunately missed), and got beat, not by bad officiating, but by a solid comeback by the Wings. I haven't seen a replay of the Kronner hit since the game, was it dirty? Didn't think so at the time, it was clear shoulder. I know that while Kronwall HAS left his feet a few times, he also has the unfortunate habit of letting his skates leave the ice AFTER the hit on the follow-through. Now, for all I know, leaving your feet on the follow-through is just as illegal, but I don't think it is. The refs were looking right at it and didn't call it.

You can't start off by saying you haven't even read the article, and then call us out for getting riled up over it. I GAURENTEE you, if you DID read the article (don't though), you would be just as riled as we are.

Yeah that's the thing. There ARE plenty of arguments one could make as to why its easy to dislike the Wings, and I have even read several articles that talk about this in an educated manner. Its just the way she writes, gets all of her facts wrong, outright lies, and simply showcases jealous bitterness rather than a healthy rivalry.

I was in Tucson last spring, and didn't really look for a Wings bar, though. Was forced to rely on iphone updates. It'll probably be tough since its not nationally televised, so you would need somewhere that has Center Ice, which I'm guessing isn't a huge priority in Tucson. Hopefully someone else can help more than I, but I will say.... YOU'RE ON YOUR HONEYMOON! Surely there are some better things you can be doing than watching Wings Ducks

For me, the Anaheim rivalry has faded. Hard to be rivals with a non playoff contender. Personally I see our rivals as the Hawks, and the Pens (though that one will fade over time unless we see them again in the finals).

Also the depth thing comes back into the equation. Last year they had so many combos they could roll out, and always had 3.5 really solid lines. Other teams really had to spread out their own talent to defend them. This year its a lot easier to corner their talent, as they essentially have only 4 talented forwards, the rest are either mediocre or placeholders.

I think Chicago gets it done against Columbus. Pittsburgh has been pretty solid of late.

Not sure how that makes him a "shadow of his former self", especially when we are SIX GAMES INTO THE SEASON. I've seen him look pretty good, despite being moved around on various pairings. He has been hitting, leads our defense in goals, hasn't looked terrible defensively. Not sure how you can present an opinion as truth, but I DO disagree.

EVERY team thinks they have a rivalry with us. The Blues, Stars, Hawks, Ducks, Aves, Preds, Jackets, Pens, Leafs, Flames, Hurricanes, Kings, just to name a few.

Agreed. Sharp and Hossa have both been beasts, but otherwise their team hasn't done much at all. Seabrook still looks terrible and Kieth isn't playing anywhere near he was last year. I haven't seen Kane do anything all season other than on the PP, he's been turning the puck over a lot too. Toews looks like hes trying hard, but other teams have been all over him. Turco continues to let in some really soft goals.

Turkey lets in a shot thats barely moving. Pretty dumb penalty to take by Polak right after he scores. Just pounding away at Kopecky for no reason. Terrible time to take one, good kill by them.
