LETS GO WINGS! I expect another game like the first one against these guys. Keep up the good work, Howie!
-
He's only had one shutout. Last night he let in 2.
-
Very nice 2nd goal by Perron. This ones a hard hitting game.
-
She needs a sense of intelligence.
-
Or the goalie.

How is it not even close? The question is "Who would you build a team around?" Not "who is your favorite goalie?" "Who is the best goalie?" or "who wears the most absurdly gigantic pads?" When building a franchise, as the question states, other things need to be taken into consideration, such as cap hit. Lunk is making almost 7 million a year. If I'm a GM and building a team, there is no way in hell I pay 7 million for ANY goalie, let alone one who has never had any success in the playoffs. As I already wrote in this thread, there are too many goalies available for 1-2 million that are perfectly capable starters.

Yep. Thats exactly what I got in response. Amazingly, she somehow managed to FURTHER embarrass herself with that response.
-
Are you thinking of Larionov? I remember them going at it at one point in the Fight Night game.

Not quite as bad as hers, but not the rebuttal I was hoping for. Speaking of rebuttals, I sent her an email and this is the response I got in return: "Another Contributor, Sherri Thornhill, has sent you the following message on Associated Content: Listen dork--it was an assignment from AC/Yahoo that specifically said to "talk trash"about the team you hate the most in the NHL....whcih I did, and was paidto do. Besides,I really do hate the Red Wingsand couldn't care less if you like it or not. Write your own article..and don't give me BS about being a Stars fan--no self-respecting Stars fan would defend the dead wings. No buzz off back to Detroit..." Apparently she thinks I claimed I was a Stars fan, which I didn't, but rather stated that I would be embarrassed to be a Stars fan based on her article. And ughhhhh... someone PAID her to write this? I REALLY hope she's lying about that to save a little face. Othwerise.... mankind = fail.

The comparison is not in regards to being a storied winning franchise, but rather the fact that the Yankees have never had to deal with a salary cap and have always had the ability to offer any amount of money to any player that they wish to get on their team, and they usually do get them. The reason we have a problem with this comparison is the obvious fact that Wings have never "bought" a championship, but rather have drafted remarkably well and made great moves in the off season.

Tried to warn you not to read it... Since no one has posted it yet:

Bases on this article I'm putting Dallas over Pittsburgh any day.
-
Lol. ONE game where he wasn't awful isn't quite enough for me to start beggin Kenny to bring him back.
-
Well she starts by saying that she has been a hockey fan since she was 8 years old. Based on the quality of writing and information she presented.... that would make her about 9 years old currently. So lets give her a break.

Not even worth it to finish reading. All of the comments at the bottom say it all. That is probably one of the worst examples of sports writing I've ever seen, not because it bashes the Red Wings, but because it is so thoroughly ignorant in every single argument it tries to make. Thank you Sherri Thornhill, for confirming the obvious: Journalism is dead.

I'm not sure what difference that would really make. Helm is faster than Mo, but Mo isn't exactly slow himself. Mo has better hands, set-up ability, shot, and finish. I'd rather see them put Hudler up on the 2nd line to get him going, and bring Bert down to the 3rd to get that line going as he creates a lot of space out there.
-
I heard yesterday that two of them got 6 games, including Mike "The Shoe Shiner" Milbury, and one of them got 8 games. Who knows what it would be now...
-
Does this take into account Cap considerations? If I'm building a team, I'm sure as hell not putting 7 mil into my goalie when there are many perfectly capable goalies available for a third of that price. I'm going with the Wings system of signing goalies.
-
Yeah, I agree. Not that I really care either way, just seems like it should be a few more, if not based on the incident itself, then based on how STUPID Rypien is to even let the incident happen.
-
Are you serious? Hudler on the 4th line? The problem is that none of the 3rd line players are 4th line players (in fact, on most teams those three guys are top 6 players). Absolutely NO way should any of them be put on the 4th. As Babs has said, every line has one moveable part, Homer, Bert, Hudler (or was it Cleary?). They don't have to completely shake up the lines, just move these guys a bit. I wouldn't mind them simply switching Bert and Hudler, letting Bert bring his point totals down a line.

SHOCKED the refs didn't call 5 minors for excessive celebration and unsportsmanlike conduct.
-
For me, the question is not how many goals he will score, its how many games he will stay healthy for.
-
Lol did you even read the article? The article is written by a Ducks writer. Other teams ARE envious of the Wings success, that is fact not opinion.
