What about Helm in 08, was he on there? As far as I know he really didn't play other than in the playoffs, and was a big part of our 4th line, hitting like crazy.

You may dare... its certainly not out of the realm of possibility. The obvious key with Mule is staying healthy. If he plays in 75+ games this season, I don't think he should get any less than 40. 2nd line has been great, and the thing they're doing that the other lines aren't is finishing. The Datsyuk line has been making a lot of plays happen but they're not quite burying it yet, but it will happen. Glad to see Bert looking good. Keep it up!

If he was beat out by LEBDA I'm not sure we'd want him.

Sure its frustrating when Howard comes up with so many stops in the shootout but... Its the the first SO of the year and only the third game. Not time to panic yet. We have plenty of talent in terms of the shootout, simply just didn't get it done tonight in that regard. The poor shootout performance is not why we lost that game. We lost because we let up a two goal lead through sloppy play and turnovers.

Sadly, no. Not at all. I don't even think the rivalry was still going in the 08 playoffs when we played and beat them, even though they tried to market it as such. In fact, the rivalry is so dead, that I actually occasionally find myself rooting FOR the Aves in some games, whereas there was once a time when I hated them with such a relentless passion it would have been inconceivable to ever think of not hating them. Looking forward to this one, no excuses tonight, period. I'm pissed that we let the Hawks back in the game the other night when we had such a good start, just want a full 60 minutes tonight. Looking for Howie to maintain that GAA and save %.

I've never agreed with this. Everyone points to our age and injuries but.... Big E is young, not old, same with Abby. Most of our injuries last year were young guys too, our old guys are actually surprisingly resilient. I'm so tired of the age excuse, especially in regards to our injuries because its just not true.

Call me crazy, but I'm not that psyched for it. Sean William Scott is obnoxious as hell and Kevin Smith hasn't made a decent movie in 15 years. That its shot in Detroit is incidental (heard it wasn't SET in Detroit), and it is supposedly about a fictitious minor league team. Maybe this criticism is all too "filmy" but I'm not sure that Smith's comedic strengths and affinity for the sport can make up for his inadequacies as a writer and director.

I like Fil and everything he brings, but I am yet to be convinced of his offensive upside. He has had plenty of opportunities on offense, at times playing with some of the best offensive players int he game. He was supposed to have a breakout season for the past three years, and until he does, I will remain unconvinced, though he is perfectly capable of it. That said, he is in incredible defensive player and works his ass off in every game. Glad that he showed up on the scoreboard last game. I really hope he can keep it up and make a consistent go of it on offense this season.

Myself and some friends have worked on a script for a hockey movie and are currently working on finding a studio suitor and some funding from various outlets. The working title is The Production Line.... now that is a REAL hockey movie.....

This. Even if its not suspension worthy.... wtf are the refs looking at? Every year the reffing gets worse, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this year is any different. The one on Datsyuk was just so obvious, I'm SHOCKED they missed it. The NHL never ceases to embarrass itself.

I couldn't believe they didn't call something on that hit on Datsyuk. He got rocked pretty hard twice in that game, the 2nd of which was definitely a way late hit, blindside, and up high.

He was on their first PP unit the other night too.

I'd like to see Datsyuk fight Kane.

Datsyuk definitely got the better of that fight. Typically classless by the Ducks, but we beat them like usual. Let them goon it up, they simply embarrassed themselves tonight. Perry a supposed tough guy gets beat up in a fight he initiated against a 3 time Bing winner who has never fought before? Pathetic.
