And they all tie for the connsmythe (and Lidstrom never retires)

If Modano doesn't work out... look out. But I don't see that happening. Flip if he lacks that offensive luster for yet another season.
-
Yeah its weird that they didn't spend more money, and if they had gotten Kovalchuck they'd be really deadly. Kopitar is getting better every year, proving himself to be one of the best offensive minded forwards in the league, he's still only 23. Ponikarovsky will fill a spot on the second line, and is good for 20-25 goals. Frolov isn't really a big loss, he is a shadow of the player he was supposed to be about four years ago. I don't see O'Donnel as a loss either, supposedly they have a lot of young defensive talent in the system, but I've only read that I have no idea if its true. As far as Quick, he isn't great, but he's not as bad as some people make out. I believe their backup this season will be Bernier who is a highly touted prospect, so who knows. The Kings are lacking some offensive punch they do have solid 3rd and 4th lines to chip in. I think they still need to fill a roster spot or two, so maybe they pick someone up, though I'm not sure who is still available. I wouldn't be surprised to see them make a trade for a big player. So... maybe you're right in that they aren't much better than last year, but I don't think they got any worse. I would expect them to make the playoffs again and get about 100 points.

Yeah, going for a little reverse troll bating.

Traverse City Prospects Tournament and Wings Training Camp Coverage

Thanks for posting. Looking good. -
I agree. Bert will take over the role of the big netfront body, a body that was previously relegated to Franzen, while Mule will play the role of the sniper/goalscorer. I want to see big things from Flip, and I think Bert is going to have another strong season. The thing to remember about Bert is that in the beginning of the season he hit the post like 4 times a game and choked on some WIDE open net chances. If he had capitalized on even half of some of those missed chances, Bert could have easily gotten 30 last year. I think he is good for at least 25 this year on the line. We REALLY need Franzen to stay healthy this season. We have yet to see a full season from Franzen since he became a goalscorer, but he can definitely get 40 goals, and if he stays healthy could even surpass that. I'm so pumped about our 3rd and 4th lines, I truly believe we have the best 3rd and 4th lines in the league.

LA improved a lot over the season and off season, I don't see how they were over achievers last year, and they're only going to be better this year. I'd say LA has a much deadlier team than Chicago does any day. I agree about Phoenix and Colorado however.

Fedotenko will fit in perfectly with the Rangers.... a somewhat talented player who plays hard about 15% of the time.
-
I think hes majoring in parenthetical.

While I agree with you completely, Hasek DID starts game 1 and 2 against Nashville in the playoffs before being replaced by Osgood.
-
I know he started on D in chicago. But I agree with you guys, what a waste of his value in the first place. With a decent playmaker on his line, he can be pretty good at what he does. He also has a surprising amount of speed for his size once he gets going, and cannot be moved off the puck. I think this is all just part of a move to ensure that Atlanta moves to Winnipeg.

[quote name='Scrosby87' date='10 September 2010 - 11:52 AM' timestamp='1284137534' post='2032323' check it out... Pens fans are very knowledgeable, and unbiased. Lol. In the 26 hours you have belonged to our dear site, you have shown nothing but how unknowledgeable and biased you are. Lets hope that you are not an accurate depiction of the fan base as a whole.

Umm... Martin is not better than Gonchar. Not at all. The wings made a mistake bringing back Lidstrom? The greatest defensemen of all time? How is he not worth it anymore? He was 4th in Norris voting last year, and only because of a slow start and a depleted team did his point totals (minorly) drop. No one is knocking the pens here. We're knocking your absurdly ignorant attempt at discussion in which you have neglected logic and facts every step of the way. Literally every point you have posted thus far is the opposite of the truth. It seems like you have never watched a hockey game in your life as you have yet to post a single sentence that even resembles intelligent thought. By the way, the Wings team last year that was soooo old and not even close to as good as the pens.... actually HAD MORE POINTS AT THE END OF THE SEASON than your Pens did. Take off the goggles man, you're embarrassing yourself.

Just saw this as well. I guess that's why he's retiring. Hard nosed indeed.

Hmmm. Fedorov-Yzerman-Shanny Kozlov-Datsyuk-Larionov Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Maltby-Draper-McCarty Kocur Lidstrom-Murphy Fetisov-Konstantinov Chelios-Coffey Vernon Osgood
-
Cujo and Legace, yet no Hasek and Vernon??
-
Cool of him to say. I've read similar things from a few other players who spent some of their career in Detroit. Something about winning all those cups tends to stick with you.
-
Agreed. Funny seeing all the clutching and grabbing. Its amazing how good these players are that they can still duck and dodge with the puck even when they're getting hooked and tackled. Thanks for posting, this is intense.

I still wanted him to go to LA, they have a great team over there, with him they would be frightening. The devils just bore me. Oh well. 15 years is crazy.
-
Or also Anaheim who had a core of Getzlaf, Perry, Ryan, Sellane and Niedermeyer. Hawks lost over 80 regular season goals, I gaurentee those wont all be made up by the scrubs that came in.
-
Yeah, that's called stupidity.
-
Agreed. This one shouldn't be allowed either.
-
I've never lived there but have spent some time there. Not sure about Wings friendly bars, but just make sure you support the Longhorns. Its a really great city, you will have fun there.

Don't know Tampa too well, but spent some time in St. Pete nearby, the beaches there are awesome and people are great. Enjoy your stay.
