Ft. Meyers? really? Makes total sense that the ratings are up. Because last year's final was a repeat of the year before, I'm guessing there was a lot of casual fans who just said "meh, I saw this last year". While I obviously would have wanted the Wings in the finals this year, as far as ratings go, it makes sense that having 2 new teams in there will bring a lot of new viewers.

Leino was giving ample opportunity to do something for this team this season, yet no matter who he played with it just didn't work out. Easy to say now that hes in the SCF and getting some points, but Kenny ran out of options with him, we needed to shed cap, and it made the most sense. Sure I would have liked a little more in return, but given his value at the time of the trade, its not at all surprising what we got for him.

I still don't see why everyone is convinced that both Eaves and Miller will be signed. As it is, we have enough forwards and both of these guys essentially bring the exact same thing for the same price. Personally, I'd keep Eaves and let Miller go. Bert will sign. I'm not sure who this 'great player' is that we could sign for Bert's money.

Articles/Reports on players coming in and going out..

I might change a few lines around but otherwise I love the line up! I'd be psyched to get Armstrong, and though I wouldn't admit it a year ago, Hudler being back will have a huge impact on this team. -

Seems more and more likely that he would sign in Tampa now. I love Malts but really do not see his role on our team in the future, and could see him being very valuable another year or two on a team like Tampa now that Stevie is running things. I just see his roster spot being filled with someone younger and better, and for the same price. -
I looked and didn't really find one. Not to be insulting to the Lightening, but... you kinda need to have a fanbase before you can have internet forums.

All depends on price. I'm good with it as long as he doesn't want more money than he's getting now. I wouldn't mind a 1-1.2 a year for 2 seasons. Definitely keep Homer, and I'd love to keep Lilja.

I've been curious for a while to see what you guys think about our off-season acquisitions last year. Last year I recall names such as Grier, Moen, and Prospal on the list of potential Wings. We picked up Williams, Eaves, and Bertuzzi, May... and Miller once the season started. When the off-season began last year, we knew that we had a lot of goals to make up for, and there were a few names available that every one at LGW was excited about. I guess all I want to know is... How happy are you with last years acquisitions, and would you have rather had us go for a different free agent?

Flip may be better all around, but he is nowhere close to Hudler offensively. Also, personally I wouldn't make a thread that consists entirely of "there I said it" and then call people out for irrelevant responses. I see Hudler winding up right around 65-70 depending on health.

Love that one. As far as other Wings movies go... I'm working on one now! Can't reveal too much at the moment because a lot depends on acquiring the legal rights before anything actually happens. Still in the very early stages of story, but there's been some minor interest so far. Think I can get Ilitch to finance it?

Yeah losing Bouch could be a problem, Boston could jump on that early. Then again, losing a goaltender is nothing new for the Flyers. They did alright for the rest of the game without him. GO HABS GO! I'd normally say there is NO chance they win but... they already did it once this off-season. If they can somehow get an early lead, they have a great chance of defeating Pittsburgh. They have been good at holding onto leads all playoffs.

Go Canucks! They really blew it when they lost game 2, and it cost them the following 2 games because of a complete lack of discipline. When they play well, they are one of the best teams out there, but they can be so inconsistent. I think they can force a game 7.

Yeah Flip has been at that point for a while. The more I see of him the less impressed I am. He is not without his strengths, but he is just so awful offensively. Everyone here seems convinced that both Eaves and Miller are going to stay, but I'm less certain. I think both of these guys bring almost the exact same thing to our lineup, and that we probably wont keep both. I could be wrong, but I think we lose Miller.

I think Kovalchuk is the better player. His shot is one of the best. I'd like to see what he can do after a couple seasons in a defensive minded system.
-
Not that surprising but sad nonetheless. I really liked what he brought to us this year and it was refreshing when he was in the lineup. Teams seemed to play us just a little bit differently when they knew May was out there. He seemed to be a good leader to the younger 4th liners . His disallowed goal was one of the worst I've ever seen in hockey, and I really wish he had gotten on the scoreboard more (he did have a few good chances though). Good luck May.

Other than maybe some leadership things, I don't think the current series hole is really Luongo's fault. The Cannucks looked GREAT in game 1 and they looked great for the first 50 minutes of game 2. Chicago was the team that looked clueless and awful. Chicago tightened up but, I really have no idea what happened to Vancouver. They seem to have no idea what to do defensively, and are getting beaten to every puck. I wish they would just go back to that Game 1 attitude. I agree in general though, over the years Luongo always seems worn out by playoff time. They're stuck with him though.

Eaves back?! I would like that. Thanks for the great GDT as always, Hockeytown, we all appreciate it! GO WINGS!!!
-
Oh please, this is completely irrelevant. His contract came at a time under Chicago's absurdly mismanaged former management, where they signed half of the free agents in the entire hockey world to overpriced multi-million dollar contracts.

That stat about his post Olympic season is BS. What was he before the Olympics? I think he had like 4 points total, and that was after playing on the PP and with the likes of Hossa. Taking stats away (look at his current linemates now, btw) take a look at his actual goals. Wide open nets, goalie down and out... and to be honest, he STILL almost misses them. He is still taken soo easily off of the puck and spends more time on his ass than he does skating. He seems to be trying a hell of a lot harder in Chicago, so I guess its a better fit. I still see him as a pylon who has had inflated stats by playing with far superior players and on the PP.
