Wont change the fact that the East is disgustingly easy at this point. The three teams who had the best chance at knocking out the Penguins have been knocked out, and all that remains are the three teams who had the worst chance at beating the pens. As I see it, the Staal injury changes nothing. The pens will make it easily to the finals, but with or without Staal, will lose to whichever team they play from the West. I hope its Wings!

I agree. The east is pathetically weak. I think all 4 of the Western teams are better than all of the teams left in the east. The Pens have a pretty smooth road to the finals now, I just don't see them losing to Montreal or Boston of Philly, even without Staal. Its not a conspiracy or the league pulling strings, its just the fact that the East is so terrible.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I've been pretty happy with Mule so far. Considering the injury he came back from, I've seen him working hard and digging deep, being effective. He is currently 3rd on the team in playoff points, behind Datsyuk and Zetterberg.... pretty much exactly where he should be. He has had a ton of chances, but just hasn't buried it like in years past. That will come soon. He takes a ton of shots from good spots, soon it will go in.

For Those Who Rely on Versus For Wings Games
hooon replied to Hockeytown Red Wings's topic in General

I think sometime in the last half of the 3rd when Abby had the puck. Right by the Sharks bench.

I'm not suggesting this, just curious: There was some talk when Hudler left that Kenny would trade him if he ever returned. Anyone think that is still a possibility?

The juniors brawl is awesome. And lol at his Lost theories.

I saw this too. It was when Franzen or Helm or someone was rushing up the boards into their zone with the puck. I couldn't really see what happened, but it was like an avalanche of bodies falling off the bench lol. I believe it was in the 3rd period. Towards the end perhaps?

Are you forgetting when Daniel was injured this year and missed something like 17 games? Meanwhile Henrik was still able to lead the league in scoring during that time, never slowing down once. I think this alone proved that Henrik is not simply "1/2 of a duo". I hope Sedin wins it.

Was thinking the same thing. I remember as a kid I happened to be watching that game live on TV at the time. So classic.

Thursday? Do they put ANY thought whatsoever into scheduling?

I agree! Or for changing the Messier Leadership Award to the Yzerman Leadership Award.

Agree with all sentiments, yet I don't think the NHL will do anything about it. There are a ton of things about officiating that don't make sense to me. Another one that gets me is how they base a penalty decision on the severity of the reaction or injury of the player getting hit, instead of on the viciousness of the hit itself. Key example recently are the Hossa vs Ovechkin hits. What if a player has a history of injuries and gets hurt on a play? The person who hits him has to be responsible for the potential fragility of the player? Or a dirty dangerous hit can be laid on a player who happened to thankfully not get hurt on the play, yet the perpetrator is barely penalized based on reaction. I guess this means you can't hit guys like Havlat or Gaborik for fear of being suspended based on the fact that they are naturally fragile and prone to injury and re-injury. While I realize that a lot of the officiating rules are difficult in nature, it just gets to me that sooo many of the NHL's problems could be solved by exercising the simplest form of common sense.

Wow, that is huge. Everyone assumed that the Devils were going to do some house cleaning, and lose one of their major components, I guess this is it. Be interesting to see who else they can get. I think NJ is going to have some trouble next year, and I can't help but wondering if they won't be able to truly rebuild until Marty retires.
