I think over the past 3 years, we've watched Lilja go from a bafoon, to a potential top 4 d-man..

Leino looked to have that scoring swagger.. Handled the puck with alot of confidence, i liked what i saw, i was expecting a very tentative and not anything i wanted to see.. But i was pleasently surprised. Abdelkader didn't wow me all that much, He reminded me alot of Cleary out there.. Just a good 3rd line forward who can sub into the top lines if need be.. I think we should let Downey/Abdelkader play against STL. a- they are rough and physical players.. b- blues are a rough physical team.. Last thing we need is exposing Leino to the Blues Goons. I'd like to see Kindl at some point also.. I think he could open some eyes for detroit. Would ass some much needed size to our depleted defense.. Meech/Lebda/Chelios is just sad..

Mac did his job earlier in the season, He didn't provide much 'energy' but he provided some toughness. But after watching Downey i think it was a refresher for managment, So they know if they need a tough guy, they know who it is.. DOWNS

If Todd Marchant - Matt Cullen - Fernando Pisani - Kyle Calder - Steve Sullivan are border line 3m players.. Then Val is for sure a 3m player. I personally think Val has Kyle Quincey syndrome, where he just needs a change of senery to flourish.

Lebda will stick up for himself in a scrum, where as Val will pull the ole zette trick, give a disgruntled face and walk away. Not saying Lebda is a physical player, but if he has to, he will stick up for himself.. Between the games being snooze fests? and there being no physical edge to any of the games.. I think that sums it up.. There have been 2 games this year, where my attention has been held for the whole game.. Last Stars/Sharks games.

Stuart is still going to be on the IR for another 8 games.. I imagine Detroit is just giving Leino a taste of the pro life, Just to keep him in GR.. Just incase he had thoughts of leaving, which i remember reading not to long ago. And against Washington, There really isn't anyone to worry about.. Brashear isn't going to run around. And Erskrine could be a legit fighter, But has proven to be to valuable as a d-man. I think we'll see downey again.. We face Pheonix and Edmonton and St Louis the next 3 games after Washington, If we dont play downey we are dumb.
