Honestly I'm not. We should pack it in this year and tank. Trade Datsyuk for a franchise defenseman, use the picks to develop another top end forward. Think of how much we could get for Datsyuk at the deadline, with his contract? It will never happen, but until he starts playing like the Pavel of the beginning of last year I'm not going to lie and say I wouldn't do it.
-
Datsyuk needs to be traded now. He still has a lot of value, and is not what this team needs. He is obviously on the decline, and if he can't help them win games now, he isn't going to help them win games when he is older.
-
I wouldn't mind trading Pavel. He is obviously on the decline, and teams will still break the bank for him. Sell his playoff choking and lack of leadership while he is still somewhat valuable.

Red Wings VP Jimmy Devellano on Fan 590: Wings fans should lower expec

Now if only he could influence a trade to get rid of this Datsyuk choker. Sell him while he stills has value. -
And getting paid 3 million less All I'm saying is Lidstrom needs to play better. There is no reason 57 defensemen are producing more then him. I can accept decline, but not this much of it.
-
No, I think he is the only one actually fore-checking and back-checking. And am countering all his hate posts by saying he is our best player. When in reality he's just playing average.
-
Hell no. Bertuzzi is playing fine. It's that soft overpayed Euro Datsyuk that never plays well when things are going bad. What a mistake of a contract that Holland signed. Gah wish we had a real player like Mike Richards.
-
Quite a decline if you ask me. Beauchemin is producing more on Toronto of all teams.
-
I'm confident. We'll win this game. Bertuzzi is looking great out there, by far our best player. Datsyuk is at least holding on to the puck better tonight, but needs to work on his shot. Lidstrom is not looking like himself at all. Howard playing great. Can someone please cheap shot Jackman? I hate that guy. He's not even good like Pronger is.
-
He's still a 7 million dollar defenseman that is 57th in scoring.
-
At least I'm reliable.

Sid the Kid vs. Alexander The Great - Olympics 2010 Special
Carman replied to Wings_Fan_In_Exile's topic in General
Crosby has already won the 2010 Olympics. This video proves it beyond any reasonable doubt. -
I'm not denying the Pen's aren't a superior team. But when the decision comes between who is better based on offensive out put, I believe Ovechkin has the necessary and equal talent around him to score goals. Washington's PP has been better than Pittsburgh's. So if you are going to say Ovechkin is better than Crosby because of on-pace statistics, and then say Crosby is getting more help on getting points I'm just simply going to disagree. Washington is one of the best, if not the best on the offensive side of the puck which certainly benefits Ovechkin. Crosby while his cast is certainly better defensively I don't think Fedotenko, Guerin, Gonchar are the same caliber of Backstrom, Semin, Green.
-
I'd want Cam Fowler and I wouldn't even think twice. Local kid and a damn good all-around skating defenseman.
-
I was speaking offensively, and while Malkin is better than anyone on the Capitials, I still think Backstrom-Semin-Green are better high-end offensive talent then Malkin-Guerin-Gonchar and company. Especially when we are using the whole scoring arguement to determine who is a "better player"... I'll say it again. I don't think anyone is wrong for thinking Ovechkin is better, I just don't see how I am wrong for picking Crosby. It's just a preference about two different style players when it comes down to it(Ableit Crosby is shooting a lot more this year so we'll see what happens).
-
Sounds good. Should be a winnable game vs. those pesky Blues.
-
I wasn't. I called him a soft Euro like I do every European player we get that's not named Markov.
-
Moore deserved it. He is/was a crappy hockey player anyways.
-
I don't buy the whole teammate discussion. Offensively speaking I think Ovechkin has as good of, if not better talent around him.
-
Yeah, Talbot is the reason the Penguins won. Of course it had nothing to do with injuries or anything like that.
-
So Crosby playing 30~ or so more games in the playoffs and having comparable stats means Ovechkin is a better performer? Sorry I'm not a fan of "on pace" numbers. That said I think it's ridiculous to compare the two anyways. I don't think your wrong for thinking Ovechkin is better, I just don't see how I am wrong for picking Crosby.
-
Yep, that same "leader" happened to have 63 points in 49 career playoff games. And I'm sure he sat on the bench out of personal choice . And yes Max Talbot "the guy playing 12 minutes a night" won them the cup. He was the complete difference between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings.
-
I'm just using it as an example to try and understand why Stanley Cup wins are meaningless. And why being a PPG performer for over 40 playoff games means you haven't helped your team win a Cup. That's all.
-
Considering Stanley Cups is the only thing Osgood has ever won it's meaningless right? Not like Osgood has a bunch of individual accolades on his mantle.
-
So you are saying Osgood sucks?
