I wasn't aware of Lidstrom doing a similar tactic earlier this season. Anyone have a link of it? If I could find anything against Lidstrom at all, it would be his demeanor once things aren't going well. I could recall Yzerman getting pretty PO'd and was pretty apparent in interviews. Yet Lidstrom seems even keel all throughout everything. Which is fantastic when things are going well to keeps things in check, but sometimes I wish I could hear Lidstrom getting on some of the players. Then again his positives far far outweigh this one little gripe of mine.

He has to be in the top 6, he cannot play on the PK or be very good defensively to play on the bottom 6. That's why he is being sat. No use making excuses, just have to hope he can play much much better then he has shown so far this year.

Ah ok, no problem. But really Lidstrom is out there with Zetterberg and Datsyuk the last couple nights anyways. And I expect that line to produce, albeit it's not all his fault, but he is the lowest at least stat wise on the first line.

We are talking about scoring. And the PP is an important part of that. Lidstrom is currently 80th defenseman in the league in scoring. And 15th in PP TOI. He is playing bad.

Yeah. Those injuries are really hindering their PP time. Stop making excuses.

I'm much more worried about our defense then our offense. With Franzen and Flippula back we have a pretty solid top 6, and our bottom six has been very surprising this year. Where as with Lidstrom's and Rafalski's decline we'll need to rely more heavily on other defensemen than we have in the past.

No you are right. Datsyuk or Malkin couldn't go over to the KHL and make massive money... The KHL would gladly pay more than the NHL can for any of the top tier talent. I want to see the best players stay in the NHL, having talent leave the league over money issues is not a good thing in my opinion. I guess reading over my posts it looks like I hate Hudler, it's not so much that as much as I dislike the situation. I still believe this could of been avoided by him, but I'm not going to treat him like Claude Lemieux if/when he comes back. I guess I'm just disappointed with it all and how it cost us a year of a promising prospect's prime that I've been following for years.

Huh? Certainly being one of the best at an attribute of your position should be taken into account. It's not a determining factor, It's just another reason I'd take Crosby over Ovechkin or any other winger for that matter. Same way I'd take Zetterberg over Ovechkin obviously age non-factor. I don't value Winger's that high. When has a team ever been lead through the playoffs by a winger? It's always been a goaltender, center, or defenseman that are the ones with the most impact on the team. If you need the best goal scorer and a physical presence take Ovechkin, but I'll take a center who is one of the best in the corners and along the wall, top 5 play maker, one of the best face-off man, captain of his team, plays the type of game that will certainly grant him future success, and happens to play through mountains of expectations yet still come out a winner. I don't see why I'm crazy for my opinion on this.

This is a interesting game. We should be able to shut down a one playerish team like NYR. Let's see how Dats/Zetter/Lidstrom do vs. Gaborik.

Probably trying to cover his face because of the hit in the face. And my 2 cents on the Leino situation is if he isn't scoring his isn't that helpful for the Wing's. He isn't very physical, doesn't play on the PK, doesn't block shots, isn't the best skater. Kinda reminds me of Holmstrom without the net presence...
