I don't have a problem with these. Ott is just a ***** so I could care less with what ever happens to him, and Scuderi certainly isn't a dirty player, but that hit was extremely low and I love hip checks.
-
Excellent on the PP yes, I'm just not sold on him being able to produce ES 5v5 on the first line. Although tonight was a step in the right direction, even though his goal was brought to him on a huge dinner plate, hell Kopecky might have been able to headbutt that one in.
-
I'm still here, Z and D created that play, but he finished so I can't bash him much and he's stayed out of the box.
-
Holmstrom for Rocket Richard. About time he does something on 5v5 other then taking penalties.
-
Ok now Lebda is just being funny.
-
Good Bertuzzi is looking like our best player.
-
Not if Ian White has anything to do with it.
-
I miss Hasek.
-
See what good goalies can do?
-
Sweet, Osbad is back. At least we have Howard as a capable back up.
-
I have no clue if he is plyaing . I sure hope he does though, that would be a good fight.
-
Fixed=p. Also Rypien is going to get a beatdown by May tonight.
-
All I know is Peverley is going to outscore anyone on the Red Wing's, barring injuries.
-
I know goal posts don't count, but I really think Bertuzzi has been one of our strongest player 5v5 in getting the puck to the net. He's created a lot of scoring chances by himself. That said I don't think Babcock should force him to work, but I'm certainly not against trying it. Also Holmstrom has been just awful 5v5. There is no consistent pressure in the O-zone for our first line, his speed is killing the chemistry that was once there. He is fine off a face-off win or when Datsyuk dangles around 2 people to create space(The only way he has 2 goals ES), but if we have to dump it in we have been having trouble retrieving the puck with him out there. I certainly don't think Holmstrom is helping Datsyuk and Zetterberg's numbers 5v5.

Have you witnessed Peverley yet? The guy is simply dominant.
-
Wing's are going to blast 5 quick goals past Luongo to hurt his chances for the Olympic team. Bertuzzi getting 2, Dats and Z both getting 2 and Kronwall chipping in. 7-2 win.
-
I know Babcock usually sits Holmstrom towards the end of games, but unless Holmstrom's sucking is making me see more of him then there really is, I could of sworn he has been playing with Zetterberg 5v5 for the last few games.
-
Funny seeing a Wing's fan say this. ATL has a pretty damn good young team, Kovalchuk is a big loss and is a better player then anyone on the Wing's, but they still have Peverley who is going to win a Hart one day. And they actually have goaltending that could steal some games unlike the Red Wing's.

So the OP sounds like a stubborn Bertuzzi hater... Sweet haven't seen those before, the guy can create the most scoring chances on the team and still get bashed. I'm wondering why Holmstrom is still on the first line for 5v5 he just keeps committing penalties and not helping Z/Dats get on the scoreboard get Cleary/Bert up there with Z and D, keep Holmstrom fresh for PP so he can be used to 100% effectiveness.

I can see not liking the hit because of the head contact. But I do not see how this is a late hit...

Yzerman and Fedorov followed very closely by Shanahan and McCarty. I really am not one to single out a player a choose him as my favorite

If you give out a suspension on this hit that if his shoulder was just an inch lower would of been a textbook and nearly perfect hockey check, I believe it will hurt the confidence and tenacity of players like Richards. They will second guess themselves, and not take chances. To me I'd rather see an odd incident like this, then hurt the physicality of an already suffering NHL. It is just so hard to avoid making contact with someones head, the NFL has been trying to fix it for years and it's not getting any better. Just leave shoulder checks alone, and enforce the hell out of checks from behind, slew foots, elbows, jumping into hits. There are many more issues around hockey checks that could help safety then a 1/1000 shoulder check that was just a little bit high.
-
In my opinion it's a lot easier to control your follow through with your leg then it is to avoid the head of another player. In a perfect world we would like to see no headshots, but when you are lining someone up it's nearly impossible to make direct contact to the body with your shoulder, you just do your best to have your body hit the other guy. It's a fast game people, the players aren't perfect and can't control the actions on the ice like a video game, if you are going to start giving suspensions on clean hits like this that are not late, and not with the elbow then you will affect the quality of hits for the future. It's an unfortunate incident, but I really doubt the ability to stop hits like this in the future without severely sacrificing a integrally important and fun part of the game.
-
Hopefully they don't change anything then. I enjoy clean hits like this, it's a part of hockey that makes it exciting to watch. It's a horrible injury, but that's the game. If Booth didn't get a concussion I believe there would be a lot less people saying this was a dirty play. People are reacting over the outcome not the actually action(for the most part). It was a violent, yet legal hit. This hit isn't much more controversial then most of Kronwall's hits and both should have a part in the game of hockey.

We have no one in the top 50 for points. We have one forward with more the 2 goals. We have 3.33 GAA which is 26th. We have 2.78 GF which is 18th. Our PP is 11th(), PK is 20th. Our +/- leader is tied for 90th and is a 4th liner. We have no forward in the top 40 for hits. Osgood is currently tied for 17th in wins, 39th in GAA, 40th in SV%, and no shut outs. Pretty much the team has sucked statistically in almost every possible way... I do find it hard to believe it will keep going this way though.
