It's because he is on a line with Holmstrom, Datsyuk/Franzen are practically playing 4v5. It's getting stupid seeing Holmstrom skate his heart out on a forecheck just to be 10 seconds late.
-
Only two games, hopefully this brings Detroit back down to earth. Goaltending was awful, Holmstrom just ruins everything Franzen/Datsyuk tries, it's pathetic. Powerplay and Penalty Kill bad, just not what I expected to see.
-
Poor conks he is versing a very motivated wings team
-
We'll it was a pretty regrettable mistake that cost him a s*** load of money. At least he is now on the best NHL franchise for the past 20 years.
-
Looks like the Hawks are doing the same thing with starting the backup. Vokoun is still in though so idk.
-
No Gustavsson? What a bad list without the best goalie in the league.
-
Ah if Conks is starting 1-0 game Wing's win. 78 shots by the Wing's though goal by Jackman on his own net, because he one of the worst defensemen I've seen.

San Jose Outshoots Colorado 40-21 Colorado wins 5-2 Toronto Outshoots Montreal 46-27 Montreal wins 4-3 Vancouver Outshoots Calgary 42-23 Calgary wins 5-3 Chicago Outshoots Florida 55-24 Florida wins 4-3 Detroit Outshoots St. Louis 34-23 St. Louis wins 4-3 Hmm...

Yes, Bettman let's just forego any exposure of the game on the biggest sporting event in the history of the world, because of travel. But let's open the season in Europe...? Am I missing something?
-
Exactly. Ericsson has a hell of a shot so he'll get his goals, but mostly he is the defensive guy in his pair. Kronwall is the offensive guy who takes more chances. Right now Kronwall is more valuable, but Ericsson sure has been looking good if only we could find him a better partner...
-
Nothing positive for having a big top 6 forward for 1.5 million? That's one thing the Wing's have been missing in the top 6 is size, once Zetterberg recovers to game shape we'll see how big of an impact Bertuzzi has.
-
Not at all, but their improvements certainly trump Columbus and Nashville. I don't see them making a big cup run, but some people saying they won't make the playoffs aren't understanding how much of an impact Eric Johnson, Eric Brewer, and Paul Kariya might have on a team that has some good pieces already.
-
Overachieved without their best player? Just think how much they'll overachieve with him and their 1st round defenseman all year.
-
That's kinda what I was getting at in this thread. Although I do think there is some sort of 'rivalry' there. When you face a team in back to back Stanley Cup finals, have players on different teams saying they dislike the other team, it's at least a start of something.
-
My point was to show how over exaggerating things really takes away from a great game of hockey. I never got the whole deal of 'hating' teams. I enjoy good hockey, and the Penguin's play good hockey obviously I don't believe Crosby is Gretzky or even as good as Malkin, but there seems to be no respect at all for the good team they have in Pittsburgh. I enjoy the Red Wings' more then the Penguins' and I understand rivalries, but in order to have a good rivalry there has to be a certain respect for your rival. A lot of the posters here seem blindly ignorant to the fact that the Penguins' are actually good, albeit not as good as the Wing's, but certainly not 'cheaters','whiners' etc. Calling a team names for practically no reason other then they beat you just doesn't make sense to me personally. Obviously that's what fans are and I know that so instead of ignoring them I enjoy conversing with them. Not really here to make friends, although I thoroughly enjoy talking hockey with Red Wing's fans. I will admit to trying to convince that the Penguins' are better then some posters here want to admit. I'm sorry for going a little over board in this thread just kinda bored tonight after a disappointing season opener haha.
-
Yep, our better players (Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen) need to pick it up. Only one game though, predicting a good ole beat down tomorrow
-
Eh Zetterberg was also -2. While Bertuzzi should make a better play on that pass, the rebound was the problem not so much the back check. You can only do so much in today's game to deny a wide open net on a split second rebound, at least he was in the right position even though you would think his Selke Caliber center would be the first one back... I only counted him as a positive because he was getting chances and skating hard, he was creating a lot of room that will be used once Zetterberg gets back into game shape.
-
At least he won't be out for long. That's good news I suppose. Let's hope Meech doesn't decide to be his usually turn over self.
-
Your lucky you get to live in the same city with two of the best hockey talents in the history of the game.
-
Yeah I mean what Malkin did was unequivocally evil and disgusting he should of been banned from the league. And screw Bettman for not insuring the Stanley Cup for the Wing's when one of the best player's in the game get suspended on a technicality.
-
Glad someone finally noticed.
-
Can't read too much into one game, but I do remember a couple things and if the trend continues then I complain about it to everyone until it gets resolved. Leino-flip, Bertuzzi, 4th line are the positives. PK and PP, Osgood, Lebda, Pav/Hank(Not really, but I expect more out of them) were the negatives.
-
Not usually, most of the forum can't stand the sting of defeat and admit to losing to a better team.
-
I'll take the captain, he is the one that motivates Malkin to play the way he does.
-
Gaborik looks healthy to me, and Penguins are dominating. Guess I'm right after all.
