  1. Predict the winners of the awards for this following season. Feel free to add nominees and explanations. Bolded my picks. Maurice Rocket Richard Trophy Alexander Ovechkin *Marion Gaborik if he stays healthy might challenge. But that will never happen. Or will it? Don't see anyone really challenging him for goals this year at least. As long as he stays healthy the guy will keep improving his goal scoring tallies. Art Ross Trophy Jarome Iginla Lots and lots of points this year for Iggy. Lester B. Pearson Trophy Henrik Zetterberg Alexander Ovechkin Jarome Iginla It's going to be a gigantic year for Zetterberg after a subpar year last year he is going really break out and have a career year. Vezina Trophy Steve Mason Tim Thomas His young team is only going to get better with their system, adding a veteran like Palhsson might rub off on some of their younger forwards and make for a very stout defensive team. Norris Trophy Nicklas Lidstrom Shea Weber Zdeno Chara Lidstrom will make-up for his slow start last year and be far and away the best defenseman this year. Calder Trophy Victor Hedman John Tavares Ville Leino Hedman has looked absolutely brilliant so far in the preseason. The guy is going to get the most ice-time of all the rookies and the Lightning actually seem to have added a lot of talent this off season to help him. Lady Byng Trophy Pavel Datsyuk Mike Richards Martin St. Louis Frank Selke Trophy Henrik Zetterberg Mike Richards Ryan Kesler Zetterberg is going to lead the wing's defensively as they rebound from a very un-wing like defensive season last year. Jack Adams Trophy Adam Murray John Tortorella Brent Sutter Blues are really going to impress this year. Adam Murray will help them make the playoffs and maybe win a game vs. the Wing's. Masterton Trophy Theo Fluery!!!! I wish.... William J. Jennings Trophy Steve Mason Hart Trophy Jarome Iginla Alex Ovechkin Henrik Zetterberg Not really sure why, I just think he'll have a great year with Jokinen and Bouwmeester and really rack up the points. Who are your picks?

    The Bertuzzi & Moore incident

The incident has been dealt with, and Bertuzzi served his suspension. There was no vast conspiracy to end the career of some fringe NHLer. Moore didn't accept a fair market value deal. Moore does not deserve 10-12 million. He never had the potential to earn anything more then the league minimum. Moore and his lawyer are dragging this case out, he is just another person trying to get a pay day by suing as many people as he can see. I'm really wishing this can go away, I'm starting to lose sympathy for Moore who really is a innocent victim of a very unlucky and unfortunate situation.

    NHL 2010 Awards Prediction thread

Eh they were 9th last year. It's quite a stretch though. I'm just hoping a goalie can actually separate themselves from the rest and I'm putting my chips in with S. Mason

Brad May to Play on Friday (and Friday's Line Up)

I can see May subbing with Eaves for that forth line in case some more muscle is needed. Draper-Helm-May Should provide some good energy. Eaves hasn't impressed me that much yet, I can't say I've watch the preseason games intently though so we'll see what happens.

Brad May to Play on Friday (and Friday's Line Up)

May looked pretty good for coming off the streets. I'm hoping he can get more of a chance then Downey had last year. I really feel he can add some good things to the team. Not too mention maybe he can teach Helm and Kader some veteran energy guy "techniques"

    Theo Fleury Released by Calgary

Blah, that sucks I was rooting for him. Loved seeing him play growing up. Hopefully it's not over yet for him.

    Tonights game Leafs n Wings

Not a bad game. You can tell the Wing's are coasting waiting for the regular season to start. Also that was an amazing move by Holmstrom, he doesn't even need to touch the puck to stick handle. Simply amazing.

    Jimmy Howard

Yep, your right. Had a brain fart on that one

    Cloutier Released

Hopefully he will get a nice contract. It looks like he still has some gas in the tank.

    Sharks sign Manny Malhotra

Sharks will definitely have a nice season. Just depends how far Nabokov can hold up and Heatley can carry Thornton through the playoffs to see how far they can go.

Brad May to Play on Friday (and Friday's Line Up)

I'd much rather have a younger enforcer, but I'll take May thank you very much. Hopefully he can fill the role Holland got him for.

    Tatar to Griffins

I can see the SEL right up with AHL maybe a little more but it certainly isn't 'laughable'...

    Forseberg with new comeback attempt?

Turned out pretty well for them as well. Great minds think alike.
  14. Carman

    Tatar to Griffins

Well, let's hope he gets enough confidence playing and scoring in the second best league in the world
  15. Carman

    Forseberg with new comeback attempt?

I'd rather have a prime Forsberg then a prime Lindros.

    Tatar to Griffins

Awesome can't wait to follow this kid through the leagues.

    Chicago Tribune Article

He is trying really really hard to get his name out there.

Lidstrom selected as hockey's Athlete of the Decade

Awesome, he definitely deserves it. I also don't have an issue with Crosby and Ovechkin being on the all decade team. I mean they've pretty much dominated half the decade in their prime haven't they?
  19. Carman

Do you think we can win

Absolutely, with the experience gained for the young guys it should translate into a better defensive year.

Gretzky steps down as Coyotes coach.

Well yes he had input on the decisions. I'm more or less talking about the uncertainty of the future which could not help the situation at all. I'm sure he had a hand at the lack luster seasons. But it's not like the team went from a Stanley Cup team to a league worst team is it?
  21. Carman

Gretzky steps down as Coyotes coach.

I don't know if I would blame it all on him, obviously he wasn't a great coach there. But between the ownership and talent I don't think he had to tools to really shine there.

    Red Wings at Flyers

JVR is their precious prospect, pretty much our Leino. And they actually had a lot of their NHL players out there and we had our 3rd line as our first line. This is not the game to bash Osgood, you'll have plenty of oppurtunity coming in a few weeks just wait it out.
  24. Carman

    Jimmy Howard

Eh, I just think it's one thing to criticize a goalie prospect and quite another to criticize a coach who has multiple Stanley Cups. Not saying you don't have the right to do it, I just personally think it's silly. And don't worry about the grammar police, I know I don't put in any effort I was more or less trying to get to the fact that Babcock is a pretty damn good coach and hasn't done a whole lot to warrant a nick name that... umm creative?
  25. Carman

    Red Wings at Flyers

I'll be one of the first to jump on Osgood, but come on it's the regular season with a team full of 20 year olds. At least wait until Sweden for the Osgood bashing.
