Yep, pretty much what I was going to say. There are plenty of serviceable goalies that can be gotten cheap.

Oh I know, how dare people have an opinion on a goalie who has been in the organization for 4 years. It shouldn't even be suggested that he won't improve his consistency and rebound control. Sarcasm aside, goalies take a lot longer to develop, and it very well could happen that Howard can reach his potential consistently. He deserves a shot, that said I just have a gut feeling that he won't be here by the end of the season. I hope he can prove me wrong.

I'm really hoping the best for Jimmy, but I just have a gut feeling that we'll have another goalie by the end of the year.

I didn't see the fight and I dislike Lappy, but if all he did was shed an elbow pad that's not much of a deal.

The only thing that would help out Roy is if this goalie did something earlier to call for having his ass beat. Considering I don't really know the whole story, i'll just say it looked like Roy wanted to go with someone and he went off on a undeserving person. I'm all for fighting when there is something on the line and means something IE. paybacks, past memories. But, fighting just for fighting doesn't really do it for me. Roy deserves whatever he gets.

Points help, as well as the Hart, and Pearson trophies. = / Basically it comes down to how much you value defense in a player.

Is Hudler is a very good offensive player? Yes. I still lost respect him for leaving not only the NHL, but one of the greatest franchise in sports. Just my opinion=(

Goalies are weird and take the longest to develop on average. However this season looks like it is Howard's last chance at least with the Wings. Hopefully he can conquer his inconsistent play and be able to maintain solid goaltending for a little longer then a period at a time.

Not a big deal. Just buying time til we hit the goalie jackpot with Pearce, McCollum or Larsson.

Haha exactly what I was going to post. Mike Richards is going to have more shorthanded goals then even strength goals next season.

I'm going Crosby just over Datsyuk. Lidstrom is still top 10 just not top 3 imo.

I'll go Ovechkin slightly over Datsyuk. Goal scoring is the hardest thing to do in the game, and he is the best at it along with the physical presence he brings.

Good move, really fills a needed void on the roster. Just hoping his body can hold up.

Hudler was a very good offensive player, on a team full of older, more proven offensive players. He was not a VERY good defensive player, therefore he got the short end of the stick for ice time in key situations. There is a damn good reason he got the ice time that he did. Whether it was attitude, work ethic, talent, or strength. Hockey is a team sport and winning the Stanley Cup should be the ultimate goal, not scoring 50 goals for your individual gains. I wish Hudler the best of luck and hopefully he can mature to realize there is more to hockey then his ego.

Really like the move. Eaves has some potential, and playing with some of the players in Detroit will certainly help him. We could end up grooming him into what he was supposed to be. Even if he doesn't turn his career around, you aren't going to get a much better player for league min anyways. I'm happy.
