That's the beauty of it, with Franzen's play style he can play until about 60 years old!

.32 goals per game playing 16:37 a night for 4 million .38 goals per game playing 18:14 a night for 7 million Franzen is a better goal scorer for the value and ice time than Perry, and that's what we need on this team.

Big save by Howard. I don't know why he's so good on shootouts/penalty shots, but can't stop a breakaway in game. Just a small sample size I suppose.

What a play by Franzen! Franzen is so awesome, he is so much better for us than Perry would be.

Kronwall beat for the goal. He needs to be better.

I don't see what the debate is, why does it matter what we think and say about Backes if it's something that is based off of an opinion, it's not like a being a dirty player is like winning a Hart trophy, it's mostly based of personal views. I go to many other team's boards and I wouldn't care if I saw another fanbase complaining about Kronwall, Stuart, Tootoo, or Bertuzzi etc. being dirty, even if they didn't perform a dirty play it would be so far down the list of concerns and issues for me to talk about. St. Louis is looking really good this year, the mix of physical play, goaltending/defense, and young talented offensive players should be a really exciting time over in St. Louis, I'd figure it would be more interesting to see how we all think the future looks for both of our teams, what it looks like from another perspective etc. Rather than arguing over a meaningless opinion on a very physical hard to play against player being called dirty. Backes might or might not be dirty, it's not like there is one line of reasoning for determining if a player is dirty, each person can come to their own conclusions based on what they see. Just my two cents, I personally don't think Backes is dirty, but he is damn tough to play against, plays on the line, sometimes crosses it, so I'm not surprised that fans of a rival team think he's dirty, it's not a huge stretch.

Stats Thus Far for Suter and Weber

Suter has been much worse, he is just been atrocious defensively. Weber just isn't producing points, but it's not all him, Nashville has 1.5 Goals a game, worst in the league by almost half a goal.

Smith out 3-4 weeks (per twitter)

Too old, damnit Kenny. Bad news, Smith finally gets a chance to be up fulltime and work on his game, and gets hurt. On the brightside at least Smith-Quincey is not going to be a pairing for a bit, it's too bad this is what it took for them to be broken up though..

    2/3 around the NHL

Suter is doing worse in Minnesota imo. Weber hasn't produced offensively, but he hasn't been bad defensively. Suter is terrible on the defensive side so far, and is only really getting points because Parise is God.

    Bottom Six

Eventually they will. But, It's not a dire enough situation to call them up and lose assets for nothing. You can only have 23 players on the roster, and these guys have proven to be productive enough bottom six players(outside of Emmerton) that they will be given the opportunity to prove themselves over a longer stretch than 8 games.

Nope, sure doesn't. And we Tootoo is awesome, because he's a wing. It's called being a fan.

Trevor Gilles is looking for an NHL team I bet.

I wouldn't say that, Smith, Nyquist, Tatar, Sheahan, Ferraro, Jarnkrok, Lashoff all have some value and would provide a very good player in return. It's just the deal would have to involve a young player the Wings get in return, because we have to take a look for the long term, and mortaging the future to get a player that keeps us a playoff team for a year or two, and then leaves us would be a worst situation then hoarding, developing talent and trying for free agents. Sorry for the typo I meant great*

Psh Jason Williams is still out there. There's a good right handed shot.

yeah no way, we might get a 7th round pick tops for that package. Brent Burns would have cost the Wings Filppula, Smith, and a first. That's the going rate for a top 2 defenseman. Probably more considering Filppula isn't on a long term deal like Setoguchi was.

Takes two to tango. And if it's going to be a major trade for us we will probably have to overpay. We aren't falling out of the race or anything, no need to do something that won't benefit us for the long term. I'm not against a move, but it would be rare to make a move this early into a shortened season, teams don't know what they have in their players yet.

1 goal isn't going to win many games. Also a couple of those goals were offensive turnovers that led to odd man rushes. Not saying our d is good, but the entire team played awful tonight, Jimmy included. Samuelsson and White should help out a ton on the secondary scoring though, so that's something to look forward to.

Forgot that Rafalski and Kronwall are defensive dynamos...

So Detroit has been a good defensive team the past few years? Really? P.K Subban, Kaberle, Emelin, Markov, Wisniewski, Hamrlik, Spacek, Gill aren't exactly awful players to be playing behind. Fair enough, didn't mean to exaggerate the "much" part.

Are you basing it off 8 games? If so I guess Crawford>Lundqvist You're irrational hate for Jimmy is incomprehensible, it's like people are allergic to having a good goalie in Detroit.

Meh bad game on a back to back. Not the end of the world, still securely holding on to a playoff spot.
