I understand, but these superstar goalies you are thinking of struggle when their team struggles too. Hence why Lundqvist, Kiprusoff etc are not having great years either. Howard is our best option until we develop an elite goalie. The few goalies that can remain elite behind an awful defensive club are rare, and most likely not going to be let go by the said team.

The goalie is only as good as the team and system in front of him. Why else do you think Hitchcock has a Vezina candidate every year? Coindence? What goalie do you want? Lundqvist, Rinne, Kiprusoff, Hiller and Miller are both "elite goalies" that have worse stats then Howard even though he's been mediocre. Honestly a goalie isn't going to be elite without a great team/system in front of him. Unless you are talking about Hasek, or seemingly one year wonders like Mason, Smith etc.

Howard is the only thing keeping us in this game. Howard is doing better than the 7 million dollar lundqvist too.

Good win, can't wait until we get White, Helm and Sammy all back, that's a lot of depth missing for us right now in both scoring and defensively. People might not like Sammy, but he's going to be giving us 20-30 points this year. White is one of our most consistent and best puck movers, and Helm is just Helm. 5th in the conference as we stand, and we have been playing better. Cleary is just terrible, I don't know if he just isn't in shape, or is injured, but it doesn't matter, he's making way too many mistakes, and not making enough plays to warrant the ice time he is currently getting. I'm really not sure why Eaves/Abby/Miller aren't getting more than him, I can usually get behind Babcock's decisions, but I'm not seeing the logic with playing Cleary.

Wasn't there this thing a while ago where people would make a thread about a player, and the said player starts playing better? If so maybe this thread has a deeper meaning Either way Zetterberg is an amazing player, boosted into the top 6 in scoring, while being one of the best defensive players in the game. Z is so underrated.

What? Nyquist only plays 12 minutes a game, he's got 7 points in his first 19 games. Datsyuk only had 5 in his first 19. And Zetterberg only 8 in his first 19. I guess they would have been trade bait for a 50 point guy too. I'm not against the trade, but don't undervalue Nyquist, he's done nothing to hurt his value.
