Fabian Brunnström moves back to Sweden.

He had 104 games played in the NHL, and 3 years in the AHL. It's not like he was an unproven player or anything, it was pretty clear what he was capable of. He's a talented player, but just not NHL quality. If he was he'd be playing in the NHL.

You mean, lose a player from your AHL team that isn't good enough to play in the NHL? Good luck to Fabian, he had the attitude, but just wasn't able to cut it in the NHL these past few seasons.

Who is your favorite player from a team besides the Wings?

Crosby obviously. I'm a huge Seguin fan as well. Both players are just so creative and fun to watch.
  4. I have to disagree there, after rewatching the Predator series, if anything they gave us time with the puck in the offensive zone. They kept us to the outside, and force us to take a bad angle shot, clear the rebound, and take advantage of our defenseman pinching. We gave up 20 more odd man rushes than Nashville in only 5 games. I believe it was more of a system issue, than a personnel issue. Defenseman were way to aggressive and it cost us. Nashville was aggressive in the offensive zone, but surprisingly passive in the defensive zone, they let us take shot after shot(outshot them by 10). And took advantage when we overextended in the offensive zone.

    Bobby Ryan

Still want a defenseman much more than a winger.

Rick Nash traded to the New York Rangers

Glad we didn't end up getting this 7 million dollar 70 point scorer. It will be interesting to see if the people saying he's a great player are right without the excuse that he can't make the people around him better. He has no excuse with Richards now. I still don't think he gets more than 30 goals and 75 points. He just isn't a motivated and determined leader.

    Patrick Kane at it again

Patrick really was never "normal" from what I remember, I played against him a couple times, and practiced with him pretty often when he played around here. He was fine on the ice, but once he got off the ice he never really clicked with anyone, wasn't bullied or anything, but he definitely didn't seem to fit in. Wouldn't surprise me if the lack of social skills translated into some substance abuse. He was a good kid from what I remember, but no one really got to know him too well. He's a great hockey player, hopefully he can get the off ice stuff under control.
  8. So this whole notion that Holland didn't try isn't exactly true. He knew Poile wasn't going to deal Weber to a Western team.
  9. Weber is worth the contract, to me the only risk is the way he plays the game(injuries) and concussions. 14 years is a long time for a physical defenseman, I'd probably do it, but I wouldn't run around saying I got a great deal.

    Could trade rumors spark Franzen?

I'm not saying these players are better than Nash. I'm saying Nash is an underachiever so far in his career. He is paid to be the franchise player, and make people around him better. If he was paid 5 million, it would be different, but he's not.

    Could trade rumors spark Franzen?

But Ovechkin actually proved he can hit more than 80 points on a crap team. Florida was a better overall team, but they were not good offensively. Columbus was a worse overall team, but similar offensively. How do you explain this? Kristian Huselius (LW) - 63 points in 74 games (43 assists) Antoine Vermette © - 65 points in 82 games (38 assists, 54.2% FO%) Nash (RW) had 67 points in 76 games. Huselius had one more power play point than the great Nash, and Vermette had 10 mroe even strength points than him.

Then why did they score less than Columbus did?

Top 5 players will usually produce great numbers even on bad teams. If you are paid to be a top 5 player, you better have a peak higher than 79 points. If Olli Jokinen can score 88 and 91 points back to back on an Offensively less talented Panther team a few years ago, then if Rick Nash really is what he is billed, you are damn sure he should be putting up better numbers than he is. I'm not saying Fleischmann is better, but just using him as an example considering Florida had worse offensive talent than Columbus did last season.

Red Wings make "helluva" offer for Nash, no response

Sorry, I like Nash, but he is not worth his contract. We need to use our assets for defense, I just fail to see how the Wings improve. We lose scoring depth, we lose assets, and we get a player that's never proved to score more than 80 points.

Red Wings make "helluva" offer for Nash, no response

Except we replace 2 60 point players and a first round pick for one 60 point player. And we still have a need for defense. Rick Nash has never lived up to his 7.8 million contract. Don't give me Columbus. Nash should make others better, and he has yet to do that. We need a defenseman much more than we need an overrated 30 goal scorer that would cost us more than we would end up with.

    Could trade rumors spark Franzen?

Yeah, Nash wasn't even in the top 50 for his position last season. Fleischmann had a better season than Nash playing on a team that scores less than Columbus.

Good idea, don't think they are available though.

    Could trade rumors spark Franzen?

Of course, but Franzen isn't getting paid to be a top 5 player at his position.

    Could trade rumors spark Franzen?

Of course, an elite player can't make people around him better. If I'm paying someone top 5 money in his position I would want him to be in the top 50 production of his position no matter if he's playing on the worst team or not. He's was 58th among forwards playing all 82 games. Sorry top 5 players produce, Rick Nash is overpaid and has not proved that he can even score 80 points yet in his career.

Red Wings make "helluva" offer for Nash, no response

Filpulla went from 16:43 per game in 10-11 to 18:15 in 11-12 Powerplay went up 20 seconds as well. It's pretty clear they had given him more offensive responsbilities last year than years past when he played shorthanded more than on the powerplay.

Red Wings make "helluva" offer for Nash, no response

Agreed. I don't see how Nash would improve the Red Wings if you have to give up Franzen and Filpulla. I just rather them focus on getting a defenseman, I'd rather use the players we'd trade for Ryan, on a defenseman. Not sure who, but there has to be a someone available at some point before the playoffs this year.

Can say the same for that 7.5 million dollar 28 year old that's only had 1 season over 70 points.
  23. Carman

    Could trade rumors spark Franzen?

Guess we'll just have to suffer with a 4 million dollar 30 goal scorer. At least we aren't Columbus and have to pay 7.5 million for a 30 goal scorer.
  24. Lashoff? I only watched a little of him, but wasn't terrible, pretty reliable defensively.
