  1. I agree about the weasel part, but what exactly is so surreptitious about his actions? His job isn't to make the fans like him, and he much like the president he can't just change things on a whim without people knowing about it. Most of your complaints should be directed to the board of governors, not Bettman.
  2. Bettman doesn't work for the fans and media. That article is just awful.
  3. To be honest, I hope he does stay in Nashville. He's talented as all hell, but he hasn't demonstrated anything to suggest he's team player in his entire career.
  4. Would expect nothing less from one of the greatest leader's in the games history.

    Kuznetsov Chooses Russia

http://twitter.com/#!/AOsadchenko/status/197324330634444800 Not sure on the validity of this, but I wouldn't be surprised. I remember similar things happening to Malkin, Fedorov and I'm sure others.

  7. http://twitter.com/#!/rcamcole/status/197367215643832321 I'd guess it was more that they played with little effort in game 2 than anything else, and the fact that Nashville is down 2-0 the team doesn't have much to lose. Pretty good move by Trotz to galvanize the team and set an example for the younger players on Nashville.

    Where does Bertuzzi fit?

Frans Nielsen, Eric Christensen, Ales Kotalik? To be fair Nielsen is a pretty good player, but the other two weren't anything special. Bertuzzi is a good 3rd liner, and below average second liner. He's still a valuable player, but I do agree he's role should be lowered in terms of TOI with the top 6.

    2011-2012 Norris nominees

My vote goes for Karlsson, his offensive numbers are great, but he played big minutes, great at winning battles in his own end, and really played a pivotal role for his team in every area of the game.

Detroit has inside track on Parise

I doubt it. Granlund is really good, but I'm not sure how much better he will be than Nyquist who is further along. Coyle is impressive, but so is Jurco albeit I like Coyle more for his more physical play, but on just pure potential Jurco might have a higher ceiling. Brodin is a really good young defenseman, but I don't know if I'd take him over Smith. Hackket is looking good after a season in the AHL, but Mzarek had much better numbers at his point in his career. Phillips, Bulmer, Haula, and Zucker aren't significantly better than Sheahan, Jarnkrok, Pulkinnen, and Tatar. I don't know I don't quite see how their prospects are much better, but that's just me I guess.

Detroit has inside track on Parise

High end talent with Grandlund and Hackett I can see but depth wise really? Can you link me those competent authors by the way? I still don't see how Minnesota's prospect pool is so much better.

    Nick, Homer retirement, New Captain

    C - Franzen A - Zetterberg A - Kronwall

    Only hypothetical, Quick/Rinne

I'd take Howard over them. Get Rinne out of Nashville and he could be a Bryzgalov. Put Mike Smith on Phoenix and he's a Conn Smythe candidate all of a sudden Brian Elliot was going team to team before Hitchcock and the Blues. Goalies are so reliant on the team in front of them I find it funny when people actually think there is a definitive number one guy since Hasek.

    Toughness and Snipers

I don't think we lost so badly because of our bottom 6. Just putting that out there. Adding toughness down there with Konopka/Prust etc. is fine and all, but we need to find something close to a Bertuzzi circa 2001, which is incredibly rare. Having a healthy Cleary will help on the top lines, hopefully Sheahan can develop into one. Either way the Red Wings need the top two lines scoring, that is what Holland needs to focus on.

Building a new Wings team (the realists thread)

Plekanec is a brilliant two way center, the offensive numbers might be similar but they are vastly different in every other area. Parentuea won't be paid that much, plus I wonder how much of his production is because of Tavares. He's a good player but I don't think he would be a good match for the Wing's, we need scorers not playmakers.

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

I'd like to see these competent authors. I don't really rely on THN, HFboards, Espn etc. Just going through the prospects with my own research and don't see how the Wild's prospect pool is top 3 material Hackett and Granlund are great but the depth seems to be lacking. I agree about the other factors with Parise though.

Crazy, but serious, off season predictions

Jamie Benn to Detroit. Dallas can't afford him

We Need to Get Tougher to Play Against

Agreed, I'm more or less trying to defend Abdelkader, I've been reading for a while all these people that want him gone, and then someone like Prust gets brought up and everyone explodes in their pants. Abdelkader uses his body just as well as Prust, has improved steadily offensively every year, and plays just as much PK time as Prust along with being on the ice for 13 less PK goals. I would like to see them both out their, replacing Emmerton with Prust would really help the bottom six.

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

Our prospect pool isn't bad hell I believe it's in the top half of the league, I'll definitely take our prospect pool over Minnesota's for sure. Red Wings have the most respected front office in the league and to go along with a great coach. On the ice. The track record speaks for itself. I'm not saying we will get whoever we want, but a free agent isn't going to just cross out the Red Wings.

    The Franzen, Datysuk, Bertuzzi line

Yikes, the last thing Franzen needs is more responsibility in the defensive end. We have plenty of two-way centers, we need him to be a scoring winger.

We Need to Get Tougher to Play Against

Not sure what the whole big deal about Prust is, he's ok I guess but he's pretty much a worse version of Abdelkader in everything that has to do with the game of hockey.

    Parise, Suter AND Semin

Because Wing's fans like to look at one series and base their opinion of the player on that. See: Franzen, goes from best player and best deal when on a scoring streak to worst player possible when held scoreless in 5 games while injured. Hossa was tremendous for us, and will probably be the last 40 goal scorer the wings will see in some time.

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

I don't know, who would want to play with that Datsyuk guy? Terrible player.

    What's Kenny Holland's Offseason Plan?

Man, just imagine if the wings missed the playoffs. I think the Wings need to do a little more than stick with free agents, I'd really like the wings to look into a trade the only players I wouldn't trade on the Wings right now are Z/Pav/Kronwall/Nyquist/Smith .It's probably unlikely but San Jose is going to be looking to change things up, wouldn't mind seeing Murray, or Clowe. Canucks are looking to retool as well. Or if we miss on Parise/Suter we could tank for #1 pick next year and then try and lure Sidney Crosby here To be serious though next years UFA market is looking really good Corey Perry and Getzlaf need to be signed so it's possible one might test the market, Fisher, Hartnell, J. Staal, Lupul, Derek Roy, Horton, Enstrom, Clowe, Edler, Weiss, Chris Neil, Chad Larose, Nystrom ugh why couldn't it be this year

Babs calls out Kenny, sort of!

Our coaching definitely wasn't good. It was quite obvious which team had the rookie coaches. The blame doesn't fall on one person though, Holland should have made better decisions, Babcock needed to motivate the players better, and the players needed to play better.
