So does anyone else hope Lidstrom comes back next season?
Carman replied to Reilly's topic in General
I really don't want him to struggle just because of his age. But then again, he's never struggled, so he can play for as long as he wants. -
And people wonder why I'm concerned about the direction the league is going concerning hitting...
-
I'm actually a pretty cool and funny guy believe it or not.
-
Modano hasn't been great, but he's still playing valuable minutes. He looked better tonight. Ritola doesn't have a future on the Wings anyways, he couldn't win a spot over Miller.
-
Funny I took your comment about the Modano the same way. He might, but I'm not willing to say one way or another.
-
Ritola is a useless NHLer. He didn't earn a spot on the Red Wings, and I'm glad he's no longer a stain in our organization.
-
Oh I completely agree, I just wish people would give Howard the same benefit of doubt.
-
And the Osgood goal went in because he went down 4 or 5 times before the shot went off. You can play the goaltending position without being in the butterfly 100% of the time, ask Tim Thomas.
-
In the situation coming down the wing from your own zone? I definitely believe that Selanne knew what he was going to do. You don't score 600 goals because you just shot the puck whenever and wherever you want. Weak shots exist, but that Selanne shot certainly wasn't one.
-
Selanne picked a spot, just as Yandle did. Continue to think a 600 goal scorer doesn't shoot the puck five hole when he did on purpose.
-
So you are saying that Selanne doesn't have as good of a shot as Yandle? That makes sense.
-
Hell no, Hudler is. Did you see how great we played today without him?
-
Shea Weber is a beast. I'd love the Wings to get him somehow.
-
It's ok man, hopefully we don't have to play him more than 15 games this year. He's just awful, but the Wings should be good enough to make the playoffs and a real goalie like Howard can carry us the rest of the way to the cup.
-
Good thing Tootoo is out, or he'd have to dodge Janik's wild fists.
-
I am happy with how this game is going. And we get to see the patrick eaves goal face. All around good night.
-
I agree here, but I remember fighting people about the Selanne goal on Howard on how it was a good shot, but people don't give Howard the benefit on that one...
-
Great period. Ozzy is looking solid, the 3rd line is actually moving, and the dmen are getting the puck out quickly. I'm glad Hudler isn't playing he ruined the teams chemistry with his laziness.
-
Are you kidding me? What more does Jimmy have to do? I mean I guess I understand if you are worried about a sophmore slump, but saying he sucks is just, quite frankly stupid. Jimmy Howard is easily the best goalie for the Wings situation, and I'm more than comfortable we have him.

the Chicago game earlier this year...?

A 60-20 spilt is not an excessive amount of games that Osgood didn't play. The following goaltenders played the same amount, less than or a few more than Osgood and performed better. Manny Legace Semyon Varlamov Ty Conklin Josh Harding Scott Clemmensen Brent Johnson Andrew Raycroft :!::!: Curtis McElhinney Michal Neuvirth Jason LaBarbera Thomas Greiss Patrick Lalime Peter Budaj He needs to be better, backup goalies do not get consecutive starts, that's not how his position works.
-
I'd prefer them in the East. I'd love to have an easy trip to the playoffs every year. Not to mention an easier division... But really, I would prefer them in the East, would be easier travel, and I'd love to get a good rivalry with Toronto again.
-
How Hossa gets the playoff flop title and Datsyuk doesn't... I have no clue. Hossa has been a very good playoff performer.
-
If that's the case we are going to have to release him. Because he is a backup goalie now and if he cannot step in and play when needed he has no use on this team.
-
Really? We already have two AHL players on defense... Come on now, Stuart wasn't the reason we lost. We had plenty of chances, and got off to a slow start. Just forget about this one and move on. Osgood played great the last two periods, the 3rd line looked better. There are some positives.
