I love our second line.
-
Cannot go wrong with the mullet, I concur.

I'm failing to see how interference is up for debate? The puck wasn't in his feet, and Hjalmarsson's stick touched the puck before Pomminville's did. Pomminville never touched or was in possession of the puck?
-
I don't know man. Look at where the contact was made, and notice where the puck is. Then add in the follow-through to the head, that's just plain dirty.
-
That should definitely be a suspension. Pomminville didn't turn an inch, and he got hit right between his numbers. Just completely uncalled for.
-
Wow that's a suspension if I every saw one. I hope Pomminville is ok and it's not too serious. He's a great player and person.

Wisniewski makes obscene gesture towards Avery
Carman replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
And Avery shows yet again why he's the best at what he does. Stupid move by Wisniewski. -
I wouldn't. Not that Scotty doesn't understand the coaching aspect of the game, as I agree he's the best coach. But at his age and declining health with I wouldn't want to see him go through the struggles and stress which is bound to happen with the way he coaches and what's demanded here in hockey town. Not too mention the difference in styles, etc. Having a system in place for an extended period of time is very valuable, especially when this system is a proven success. I would not take anyone over Babcock, he has the perfect demeanor, plan, and leadership that we need on this team. I'm extremely happy with this news, it's great to see this in the beginning of the season. Knowing that the ship is going to keep sailing in the same direction for 4 years should help everyone buy in to the plan and feel secure that we are going to continuing being a great team during Babcock's tenure at the very least.

If only Detroit fans cared like Pittsburgh fans do...
-
I don't know about that. They are two different type players, but both great. It's too early to say who's going to be better.
-
About Hudler, I don't think he was that bad. He certainly wasn't great, but he was skating. It will take a little time for him to adjust to the much better game over here in the NHL.
-
Wooo, not pretty but our 2nd line was. Good game, nice game by Ozzie.
-
Great play by Bertuzzi.
-
Flippula is playing better than I've seen him play. He's shooting the puck, and skating great.
-
Can we not have Osgood play anymore? Terribly timed goals.
-
You know what that was probably a bad example for me to use. But either way, I don't think Laraque or any other player that performed a cheapshot would not do the same thing had the other team dressed an enforcer. Ignore that sentence, and respond.
-
Well May is who I was referring too with some staged fights with Barch etc. Downey I could careless, he was not a solid hockey player. I want a player that gets into fights because he pisses off the other team with his physicality not because he has a reputation as a "heavyweight". I want a player that can contribute on the 4th line and not be a liability. A player worth his salt isn't going to be intimidated by an enforcer in today's "instigator rule" times. Matt Cooke would prefer the other team dress a pure fighter so he can ignore him all night trying to draw the penalty while running the defenseman on the forecheck. I just do not believe a pro athlete will be discouraged to play physically because the other team dressed a player that punches people well. If a person's job is to hit people, he's going to hit people. I just don't believe dressing an enforcer prevents any aggressiveness from the opposing team.
-
I thought it was May.

When did I say this? Nice straw-man. I love fighting in hockey, I don't like one-dimensional enforcers. I think fighting is important part of the game when the emotion and flow of the game calls for it. I don't see how a player playing 4 minutes a night can make that much of an impact. I'd rather have a grinder out there like Drake/Abdelkader that could fight, but prefer to hit and draw penalties and fight when the team needs a lift.
-
And I don't like that. I think a star player should answer the bell if he's going to play the game on the edge like Ovechkin. Which is why I hate the instigator rule.
-
I really don't see having one player diminish the Duck's frustration. It wasn't even Parros going after people. The only fight that was a mis-match was Stuart on Brookbank, but then again Stuart might not be a "fighter" but he's a big boy and able to defend himself. Maybe I'm just old school, but I think fighting is an integral part of the game that everyone should be able to answer the bell if the situation is called. Obviously some a lot more often then others, but I never got why one guy should be the only person fighting and that's just his sole duty.
-
I don't really consider Perry a "tough guy". Has he even won a fight? I just recall a couple fights where he got demolished by Carcillo, Nystrom etc. Would that enforcer even have an impact whether Datsyuk decided to drop his gloves on Perry? Perry wouldn't be interested in fighting an enforcer at that point in the game, he would have tried to draw the instigator even if by chance that enforcer was ever on the ice when he was.
-
Not as important as winning the game. What did having an enforcer do for the Ducks tonight exactly? I don't want Datsyuk getting in 10 fights a year, but one here or there isn't the end of the world. Especially when it's not against a veteran fighter. I'm pretty sure I have played hockey at a fairly high level. I understand fighting, but right now in the NHL it's not a benefit to have an enforcer that can't enforce due to have the instigator rule. There's not a NHL player worth his salt that is intimated of another player's fist. Do you think Matt Cooke is going to think twice if he has a clean shot on Lidstrom? Really? Having an enforcer in the line-up just has a pure reactionary effect on the game in my opinion, something that is not the valuable right now in today's game.
-
Because staged fights are important. I'd rather have fights that mean something, thanks. Pavel

Guys we have our 4th line on the PP, don't expect a whole lot We won. Their enforcers were useless.
